I have a task to create a simple animaned diagram with 99% of a circle of one color and 1% of the rest.
In the previous Premiere Pro versions there was a Radial wipe effect. So I created an Essential graphics layer with two shapes of different colors in it, then placed the radial effect above both the shapes and animated the effects. Thus I could get a simple clean animation of a circle wiping in, with this small bit of another color appearing later. Moreover the radial wipe effect had a straight 100% scale so I could get whatever per cent I needed in no time. This whole process took me 1-2 minutes.
Now I realize that the radial wipe effects is gone. So how do I create radial diagrams now? It's nonsense to go to Ae everytime for such simple things. And the radial wipe transition effects a layer at a time, so I'll have to nest the essential graphics layers created separately. This is not convenient at all.
Don't you think this was a silly decision to remove a tool that not only worked but also immensely sped up the video editing workflow?
Here’s how to recreate a radial wipe effect using the Essential Graphics panel:
Film Impact has an excellent suite of GPU-accelerated transitions and effects, including a Clock Wipe.

@AndrewTheGreat - from that page specifically:
"Projects that were made in previous version of Premiere Pro that contain obsolete effects can still be opened. The effects or transitions will still appear in your sequences and in the Effects Control panel on the clips they been applied. However, the Obsolete Effects folder, Obsolete Transitions folder and four Presets folders – Bevel Edges, Solarize, Convolution Kernel and Blurs (Windows Only) will not be accessible in the Project Panel. You can copy and paste your applied obsolete effects and transitions between clips and sequences in your project and continue working with them on new clips and in new sequences you create. Any custom presets you have created and saved in a previous version that contain any obsolete effects will remain."
Not saying that this is a "good" solution - but based on this it looks like you should be able to copy over an older project that has the effect you've referenced, and then apply that effect to your new clip. Might even be possible to save a custom transition based on that so you just have easy access to it.
I am on a managed machine & haven't upgraded yet, so I can't test out on my end... though now that I think of it, let me know if you need that effect, I can send you a project file with a Radial Wipe applied to an adjustment layer.
I'm getting off-topic, but I think a good compromise from Adobe could be to bury a "show obsolete effects & transitions" button somewhere in a Settings menu. That way it discourages new/current users from using problematic effects, but they can still be enabled if they are part of legacy workflows, or even with performance issues it really is the best solution. I don't think recommending users purchase third-party plugins (for features that are effectively being removed) is an acceptable solution.

I had to do Adobe's job for them... Tell me, anyone, WHY did they have to remove it entirely?
I just copied this effect from the previous version to c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro 2024\PlugIns\Common\ and ... MIRACLE! It works. It just works. Adobe, what is going on? Did this Radial Wipe effect cause some of your employee's headache or something? It does not even have to be GPU-accelerated - it just works and never loads your system.
I see no logic in removing an effect WHICH HAS NO ALTERNATIVES IN PREMIERE PRO
And as for the third-party alternatives. Name them, please. I know none. Those "radial wipes" Boris FX have - they don't have a clockwise\counterclockwise wipe.

Good find! Something to keep in mind should I need the effect on my end. Also, same here - I browsed around through Adobe's recommended third-party alternatives and couldn't seem to find a simple Radial Wipe equivalent. At minimum, their support document really should have hyperlinks that directly corrolate to a recommended replacement - or maybe some professionally-made, downloadable mogrt replacements.
On Mac, filepath to find the plugin is:
Macintosh HD/Applications/Adobe Premiere Pro 2024 -> Right-click the "Adobe Premiere Pro 2024" app and select "Show Package Contents" ... then browse to Plugins/Common/AEFilterRadial_Wipe.bundle

I think ProDad Vitascene has a circle wipe.
I'll check when I'm at my editing computer.

What is going on? Why is an Adobe employee suggesting a third party plugin? I could equally go to Davinchi instead of Premiere Pro with such a logic - there's a native radial wipe there ... Isn't it better just to bring back Premiere Pro's own radial wipe or at least give YOUR clients a native alternative? Guys, you amaze me...
And @eric escobar Film Impact's clock wipe IS A TRANSITION. If you suggest something, at least study your own suggestion. Btw, didn't you know Premiere Pro has it's own radial wipe transition, still?

So now we are forced to pay a monthly subscription and then have to create and design our own transitions and graphics. The whole reason I started using Adobe premire pro/elements years ago because everything was already pre-made. I am not a graphic designer, nor do I want to be one. This is no longer enjoyable and I would not recommend this now for the average person. To get so call better modern transitions you have to make yet another purchase and those tranistions are repeated and a joke. Since I am sitting on older premire pro visions (that I paid for). I should be allowed to extract those older better transitions and copy them to premire pro 24.

Peru Bob, Thank you for your post. I'm sooooooooooooo frustrative, no help from Adobe/creative help. I managed to upload the older version of Premire Pro 15 that contain the better made transitions and was also able to import the slide show I made way back when. I plays fine in Premire Pro 24, however I cannot figure out how to copy those transition to premire Pro 24. The transitions names dont even show up on the timeline, but they play fine.
