Working with long video clips in Premiere Pro?

New Here ,
Jan 11, 2018 Jan 11, 2018

I was handed a bunch of long MTS camera recordings (3+ hours each) and Premiere Pro isn't happy with me importing them.  Media Browser recognizes the filesfine but when it imports the long clips into the project and then into the timeline the audio is out of sync by quite a bit, even when using proxies.  I did a test export and the sync issue carries over the the exported file.

My machine isn't the newest kid on the block but it's got 26 gb of useful RAM but I'm guessing it might not be enough to tackle these(?).  I've included a MediaInfo screencap of two of the MTS files in question.  Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

Try this.

With Premiere Pro closed, rename the top level folder holding the media.  Start a new project, import one clip only.  Let it finish conforming, save the project, close Premiere Pro, then reopen that project and import the next clip.  Repeat until all media imported.

No, import one clip a a time.  If that clips exists as several files, so be it.

What's the sustained data transfer rate of your storage media can maintain?  I'm not sure that this is even it, but it's something to check.  Your screenshots indicate that you need 22Mb/sec. (I'm rounding up).  When you benchmark your storage, I'd look for 30Mb/sec or better.  A standard USB3 drive with at least 20% of the storage available should be able to maintain that.

Did it still take forever and a day!?  had a kid shoot a dance recital for me yesterday.  Although I’m glad he didn’t snooze and miss the beginning of

amythin, annoyed he didn’t stop recordinf during the 20minutes between the preshow nor the 20

minutes at intermission.  So I know have an unnecessarily long 3 hour clip.  It has literally taking me the entire day, and I’m still not finished to get this clip into work with. Considering proxy editing but annoyed that I never had to worry to much about avchd footage with premier in the past years but now it chokes on it.  Backwards upgrade.  Anyhow that was show one of two.  Even if this works considering For show 2 to

import the spanned clip as individua mts to see if it’s less combersome for premiere to chew on.
