Option to go back to old timeline label colors?

So apparently the new update has changed the label colors in the timeline, and I do not like them at all. It's supposed to be "easier to see" but it has the complete opposite effect for me. The colors are very dark and have a cheaper feel to them. I know that you can set your label colors to "classic" mode in the settings, which is supposed to be the old look, but it's not the same look at all.

I'm currently going to set premiere back to an older version, but I'd love to see a way to go back to the old colors.

Ok so I just found out that you cannot open an existing project in an older version, so I guess rolling back to an older version isn't an option...

I can open projects made in 24.4 in 24.3. So it depends what "older" version you use.

Yes, that does seem to be true, but for some reason 24.3 now also has the new colors.

Have you tried resetting your preferences? My version of premiere never changed colors, I only get newer dark colors in the beta version, and even then the "classic" preset does look like the old colors still.

(Cerulean at it's default does have white text though, which has absolutely awful contrast.)

(if this image appears, beta with "classic colors" on top, current release bottom.)

If you aren't able to get the colors restored by resetting preferences, I can copy/paste the hex codes in my preferences from the classic pallete and see if that works for you to manually change them? 😮

The new label colors are "baked in" into Premiere Pro´s preferencces file, so they carrie over when downgrading from 24.4 to any version of version 24.

To get the old label colors back, reset the preferences by holding down the Shift-key while launching Premiere Pro. In the dialog that pops up, make sure to check "Reset app preferences" and then click Continue. Now the old classic label colors will be back.

I am able to set it to classic colors, but the thing is, it's not the same. It kinda resembles the old colors but there are a bunch of things different like how the color of the audio wave is not dark instead of light, which has a really bad and hard to look at contrast compared to the old colors.

Not sure if it was already answered, but you can go into the SETTINGS > LABELS > Default, Classic, Vibrant, Editorial.

Changing to Vibrant really improved my mood. Personally, did not care for the 24.4.1 Default color.

Just saw the change in my colored labels in Premiere Pro.  HATE them.  I will try to restore in settings but . . .   these dark colors do not help me.  Just putting in my 2 cents.

I'd also like to toss in that the smaller markers are annoying...I use markers a lot, and having to slow down and be more precise probably doesn't change my work speed at all, but it is a constant, minor annoyance.

Oh, and while I'm making a wishlist, I'd really like different clips to be different colors, eg. audio clip 1 has maybe a purple bar next to it. and a purple outline, audio clue with yellow, or something like that. I realize that the usefulness for that tops out at about a dozen clips, but it would still be nice, even if the list colors started over.

So glad I found this forum right away. Opened a very important project after a holiday weekend, panicking about an upcoming deadline, and suddenly find this crap?! I hate it. First of all, when I opened it, my folders and caption track were in RED by default, causing a mini panic that somehow something went wrong because I knew I hadn't moved any files on my hard drive, so no legit reason why the media would've disconnected. Not only are these retro colors MORE difficult for my eyes, but the whole thing feels clunkier? Also transitions are now clear?! (just a white outline at the end of the clip) so in a long timeline, you can't see them unless you zoom way in. What was wrong with yellow transitions so can can actually SEE them? This sucks!

Turn off automatic updates. Don't update in the middle of a project.

I don't like the new updates. The colors are terrible. Hope they read all the comments from fellow editors and take there opinions into account. I hate that I forgot to stop automatic updates.

Seconded! The Smaller markers and the different transitions are a severe downgrade in visibilty and practicality.

To change label colors on Mac Sonoma, open Premiere and click: Premiere Pro > Settings > Labels.

Select a preset under "Label Color Presets".

"Yellow" and "Brown" are basically the same color now. Is that just me? I guess "Classic" is the closest to what it was, but it's definitely different. Why change the "Default" label colors so suddenly? Phase it out at least, or let us "Try new label colors" or something. I feel like this must have been a mistake.

I have spent the whole morning desperately trying to get back the old colours so I can work.  Complete garbage upgrade.

The colors for the labels are close, but the dark audio is painful to look at an dhard to make out- I don't see anyoptions to change its color back to white?

I did find thr reset to "classic" colors.  I like hving the option to change a label

color.  Thats helpful.  However,  i dont understand how Adobe chooses to change the default color out of nowhere and cause all this scramble.  I thought my computer had a virus or something.   Ive been using Premier Pro since version 1.5.  Yep!  That long.  So to change my default workdesk color space on your own without notice is rather inconsiderate.  I love the option to change the colors - nice option.  However, no reason to make a creative change to a default color pattern when your dealing with actual creative people.  We dont like that ... 🙂

AGREE!   How rude to change default colors, etc without a heads up.  Or changing them at all.  Since there is an option for is to change the colors if we want ....  why change the default creative optioms like label comors to a group of people who are highly creative?  Bad move!  Ive been a loyal PrePro since v.1 - 1998.
