Community Beginner ,

[Moderator: This thread was originally titled "Premiere Pro 24.4 Program Monitor Scrolls". It's been updated to make this thread easier to find. We appreciate - and are listening to! - your feedback on scrolling / panning in the Program Monitor]

I just noted after the 24.4 update, My source & Program monitor up & down rollers/scrolls on the sides just vanished or missing. Not sure if this still part of the zoom in, zoom out or use of hand tool new updates which has cause this to be removed or a bug - but, kindly let me know if anyone has experienced this issue. The screengrab below.

Hello Community,

Please also upvote this bug: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-ideas/ability-for-disable-program-monitor-zoom-settings/idc-p/15089641.

It's for the ability to turn the feature off to prevent unwanted incidental screen zooming. This thread seems to ask for multiple things, so it may be confusing which Idea to upvote. I say, upvote them both.

@Mojo Edit, since you creeated this post, what is the feature request you'd like to see here?

How do you manipulate the scroll bars w/out using a mouse?

Which scroll bars are you referencing?

I guess they mean when panning on a shot if you're zoomed in. I was confused at first to see the scrollbars were gone and had to search on this forum and found you now have to pan clicking the middle mouse button.

Thanks for providing this information, @Mike McCarthy It's exactly what I needed to know.

Can you please tell me where this is published? These functional changes are sort of stuff Adobe should be commuicating to users, and apparently is now, given you've accessed it. But nobody can tell me where all these big-little changes are being listed! I've begged Adobe to be clearer on this, and maybe they've listened, but I still can't find this info myself.

Bring back scroll bars! At least provide a context menu option to enable it again. I remote work and using the middle mouse button over remote software is flaky as hell.

This is completely ridiculous. This is very frustrating that something so simple now doesn't work. I am trying to use the hand tool but nothing happens. It does not work for me and I am unable to navigate within my frame to make adjustments and complete my work. It is annoying to be at the mercy of these developers. Why not focus on developing more important features vs removing basic functions. Blows my mind!

Can you please add an option to disable this? I have been using Adobe Premiere Pro for over 10 years and not once have I ever wished I could zoom in and out with the scroll wheel on the video preview frame on the Program Monitor. It is really frustrating that this was just all of a sudden changed out of the blue without warning. I understand that some people might find this helpful, but it really should have been communicated better because the release notes don't say anything about this.

I am honestly considering going back to the previous version until such an option is added. Thanks!

  • You can now smoothly zoom into the Monitor using your mouse's scroll wheel and quickly pan around the Monitor by holding the middle mouse button and dragging.

Using the middle mouse is a pita, often find myself hitting the space bar, but that obvious does now work.

Changing this feature was not a good move. Why change it in the first place? AT LEAST make it selectable. If you must have scrolling for scale, put scrolling the timeline back as an option.

I rolled back, and the pretty label colors rolled back. I hadn't used any of the audio editing features.

Well THAT just stinks! Adobe needs to stop fixing things that aren't broken.

Dear Adobe,

To be honest: your softeware isnt a GAME, but something people are WORKING with. This damn change came with an update, without any information, massively changing my work flow.

I dont want that during a project, which I am currently working on, under time pressure, etc.

I have set back to previous version and wait for you to enable the scroll bars in the next update.

Otherwise, maybe it's time to check other programs. Its not the first time to experience such nonsense change. Also the colours in your new version are ugly and hard to distinguish.

Updates should make things better, not worse.

Think about it.

Wait! The Hand tool moves the clip which does exactly what the Move tool does. It doesn't allow you to navigate a zoomed-in clip.

If Adobe is going top keep this feature, it should work like it does in Photoshop.

new version is changing scale of the program monitor if i accidentally touching the scroll button

working with apple mouse became very annoying

seems like premier is too sensitive to touch of the "scroll" area I was constantly dealing with rapid movements through timeline, now it adds the rapid changes in the preview of program monitor window and source window

24.4 also messed up FX badges and dupe detection along with other behaviors that worked perfectly fine over the past however many years.

Dupe detection is already fixed in the public beta, so at least that's available.

hello, you get a thumbs down. 👎 👎 👎  Until you fix or add the ability to scroll playback on the monitor screen instead of zooming. If it doesn't happen for a long time. I will stop using Adobe Premiere pro and switch to DaVinci. 🤬
