Possibility to Change UI Theme And Color

Contributor ,

Compared to other NLEs, Premiere Pro still has an outdated UI that feels uninspiring. Working with its current style and color palette becomes monotonous. I spend hours working within Premiere, and its operation leaves me feeling fatigued and unenthusiastic.

I believe that offering more options for customizing the interface's colors and perhaps allowing users to create custom themes within the application would breathe new life into it. This way, those who prefer the classic UI can stick with it, while users who enjoy making changes can explore fresh themes and color schemes.

Actually, compared to 'other NLEs' like Resolve, Premiere's got a far more customizable UI. Although both are very limited in what they allow for user color selections for the UI ... totally neutral grey.

PrPro used to have a 'gold' highlight line around the "active" panel, and for text, but went blue a few years back. There are a LOT of people who would like the ability to select and change at least that color. Which I always support, it seems quite reasonable to me ...

There are ways to get the gold highlight line, in fact i changed mine, and i found ways to change some of PremierePro colors. So it is possibile, they just have to implement it with some UI elements and make it easier to do so.

Premier Pro as of current as a very one-size-fits-all approach to the design. You can have different arrangements with the panels but I locked into one UI theme. A stellar choice of grey, grey, grey, or grey.

Just as an explanation ... this is an app designed for pro video production. Which has meant a heavy focus on broadcast working needs. Having a color "ground" around the image is a complete no-to for most broadcast work. While for strictly editing, it's not so bad, for any color work, it's an absolute no no.

Hence the various shades of absolutely neutral grays ... always matched R - G - B values.

I know a lot of the folks doing web work and such (which can also be very professional, just differently so) aren't necessarily worried about the 'ground' color. And would enjoy a "prettier" screen. Totally understandable.

I get why it's like this just the idea of having themes is giving users options for how they want it to be.

I actually asked the ppl on the concept of this being a possibility and it's not as easy as you think even with the new beta UI scheme. Hopefully that option opens up in the future but compared FCP and Resolve's UI that doesn't allow me to do what you are looking for, PrPro has by far the most customizable UI of the pro NLEs I've used. Just because I can't change the UI color to something that the default blue or gray if you are in the beta doesn't mean I can't get work done. Also giving that option to create custom look themes will inevitably come with some caveats as that could potential affect the third party ecosystem that Premiere currently has. If you want the classic UI, you can always stay at 24.3 or below and be fine. You will however miss any fixes or feature upgrades that could improve your editing workflow.

light grey letters on darker gray background is very dificult for me to read.  I have to get right up to the screen to read it .  It gives me a headache.  Would it be to hard to get a gold or white color for the words???????????????????????????????????  Grey on grey is stupid, stupid, stupid.

<<light grey letters on darker gray background is very dificult for me to read.>>

In the beta version, where the UI is getting a bit of a make over, there in Preferences\Appearance "Accesible color contrast" which makes the text stand out a bit more, and the text is white'
