Removing dead air in projects

Within premiere pro we all use the tool for video editing. However, we don't have a way to remove dead air between talking bits. I'd like to suggest a add on for that or even a effect that we can use on our timeline.

For example: If I were to record some voice lines and there seems to be gaps in the takes. I'd like to be able to remove them so I can listen to the takes a little easier. Being able to tell the effect to focus on, would help out drastically. Instead of making cuts to shorten the timeline.
