Crashing on Premiere Pro 14.0 on macOS Catalina

Using Premiere 14.0 and Mac Os 10.15.5 Catilina. Adobe Premiere since today (July 21, 2020) crashing like crazy. Simply shuts down.  Sluggish on opening, delays and freezes (despite very short simple mid resolution sequence, total sequence only 20 sec long) then the shut down happens, as I go from "Editing" to "Effects" - and as soon as I click on "Video Effects" the whole program shuts down in a flash and is gone. It happened 10 times in a row.
