Premiere Pro 12.0.1 Issues

Last night I decided to upgrade to Premiere Pro 12.0.1 after watching several video tutorials online. I am not a professional editor, but enjoy trying to edit some videos that I have to work on. I learn primarily from finding good videos online when I run into techniques I am not familiar with. I have been working on color correction clips, and thought the upgrade to 12.0.1 from 12.0.0 might aid in that process.

This morning I opened the project I was last working on, and most of the clips are now upside down - surely not a good sign. I have clips from 2 cameras in the project - Go Pro clips and clips from a iPhone. The Go Pro clips don't appear to be affected but all the iPhone clips were. I opened another project with just iPhone clips and that appeared unaffected by the upgrade.

I turned to Google and these forums to try to see if anyone had a similar issue. It being a fairly new release, I was not able to find the exact same issue, but I found many other issues relating to the 12.0.1 release. Rather than spend a ton of time trying to figure this out, I downgraded to the prior release. The project now opens with the video in its proper orientation, but does come with an error message:

Searching on this error tells me that it may be that some of the clips have been corrupted by the upgrade/downgrade. Most of the fixes were found by, ready for this, upgrading to 12.0.1!

I have no idea what is happening right now, but this latest upgrade may cause headaches for some folks, so I suggest being a little cautious before doing so.

Glad that downgrading to the previous version was able to get you back on track. It's always a good idea to stay on the version of Premiere Pro you created the project with. Updating a project to the new version can sometimes give you unexpected results. Something to keep in mind for the future. Sorry this caused you trouble and confusion. Good luck in future projects.
