Premiere Pro 2020: When I add text it does not create a "graphics" clip for me to edit

Hey everyone, just looking for a quick bit of help.  I am almost done creating a video and want to add some into text to it.  I am able to add the text by using the "type tool" in the toolbar, but unlike the tutorials I have looked up, a "graphics" clip does not get created above my current video clips for me to edit (fading in and out, ect).  Does anyone know how I can get the graphics clip to appear?  Thanks!

Make sure the playhead is over the clip you want the text to appear.
