Premiere Pro and After Effects are great for creating and preparing video and audio assets, but do not support interactive authoring.  Do you know where your movies will be published?   You may find old After Effects tutorials on creating buttons for use in Adobe Encore, but that is all discontinued. The choice of authoring software is usually determined by the interactive format that you are publishing to.  For example, DVD authoring software would be used to author and publish a DVD.  Or Adobe Animate would be used to author and publish a projector (kiosks are one use case for that).   "Wired" QuickTime movies used to support interactivity .  There was a great application called Electrifier Pro to author them.  Adobe Go Live had some support for them as well.  Unfortunately, those have been discontinued for a long time. ... I'm in favor of more motion design friendly features in Premiere Pro that share the functionality of After Effects and I'd also like to see the plugins included with After Effects also work in Premiere Pro (namely Detail-preserving Upscale and Keylight), but I wouldn't want After Effects to be direclty integrated into Premiere Pro.     As far as moving beetween the two quickly goes, I work between After Effects and Premiere Pro and frequently take advantage of being able to copy and paste between Timelines.  It's immediate if both applications are open.   I know plenty of video editors who never do motion design and plenty of motion designers who never do video editing. I mean, back when this processor was recent, they already worked with complex effects without huge problems🤔   If slower renders are a "problem", then yes, an 8th generation i7 is a problem. If you run the  After Effects "AEPulseBenchmark" project, I would guess that your 8th gen i7 does it in about 25 minutes while a 13th gen i7 will do it in about 5.  For accurate results, make sure "Cache Frames while Idle" is disabled and purge the Cache.  You can view results comminty users have posted here.   Also, open one of your projects on your 8th gen i7 and take a screenshot of the Composition Profiler.  Then open the same project on a 13th or 14th gen i7 and compare it. ...   Sounds like something that you are doing in After Effercts needs more resources at the current Resolution than your system provides. To continue working, try lowering the Resolution to Quarter or Custom (6 by 6 or 8 by 8).  You can also set the Layer Quality to Draft for all or most Layers.  For motion, you can skip frames and use Wireframe (not ideal, but requires very little RAM).  Also take a look at source footage that's being scales to 50% or less most of the time and replace that with duplicates tbat are scaled down outside of After Effects. Are you using the Maxon app with your Red Giant plugins?  If so, log out of the Maxon app.  Quit and save any open projects/documents.  Restart.  Launch the Maxon app and log back in.  Then open After Effects and Media Encoder again.  Also, double-check that the version number of After Effects matches the version number of Media Encoder.  So, if using After Effects 24.5 then make sure the Composition is being exported with Media Encoder 24.5. Would you describe this as if you are stuck in a click-and-drag?  So, even though you have released the mouse the playhead tracks left to right as if you were still holding the mouse button down? I had this happen a few weeks ago with a wired mouse.  I had to force quit Premiere Pro.  I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the mouse first, but that didn't help.  I had also just saved before it happened, so fortunately I didn't need to continue from the most recent auto-save project. While Premiere Pro lets us import and drop just any footage into a Timeline (and that's certainly worth trying), there are video settings that are good for editing like a low compression ratio that's all i-frame (or inter-frame) with a constant frame rate instead of those that are good for delivery like a high compression ratio with a GOP (group of pictures) structure and variable bit rate.   A few other things to look at are making sure the Audio Input is set correctly (or to "None") in tbe Preferences and things like Show Duplicate Frame Markers in the Timeline panel is dieaable while editing.     ... The pencil allows us to draw to modify the curve instead of using edit points to do so.  It's common to follow up drawing the curve with clicking the "Smooth" button.   To completely reset the Curves and try again, click the blue "Reset" text at the top level of the effect.    If you like the results but would like to try something different, hide the first  instance of Curves and apply the effect again. ... Try transcoding to a Smart Rendering format.  That is to say, a format that is known to perform well. If using the Premiere Pro Proxy workflow, you should be able to move back and forth between those two computers easily enough with finishing done on the iMac.  If the laptop has USB-C ports, a high capacity USB-C SSD mobile drive should work well to move back and forth.  (Do Ryzen motherboards have Thunderbolt?).  I'd format the drive as APFS and get MacDrive (5-day free trial) for the Windows laptop.   If not using the Premiere Pro Proxy workflow, single stream 1080p ProRes will be okay with effects rendering and exporting to social mefia formats on the slow side.   Regarding "for Premier Pro 22 and 24", using the same Adobe ID cross-platform is fine but the version of Premiere Pro on each system needs to match.  So it has to be 22.x or 24.x.   ...
