Agree with SJReigal "allot of time and talent went into this effect". Possible option: 1. Apply "Image Trace" feature in Illustrator that sharp effect 2. Place or Embed Vector Art into Photoshop 3. Duplicate Layer in Photoshop 4. Apply Filter>Filter Gallery>Under Sketch Category> Stamp or Photocopy 5. In Layers Panel Use: Linear Burn Mode *notice my lizard image not as defined as your example

There are several ways to remove a white background. When you cut/paste the jpg the white comes along. Try using the “Magic Eraser” Tool to remove the white back, then copy/paste to your main PSD. This video includes the Blob Brush also, but simple technique using the Eraser Tool. Using the Blob Brush and Eraser tools tip: use the bracket keys [ ] next to P key to increase the brush size of Eraser/Blob Tools As Sosha mentioned, make sure to unlock Layer(s).

Save time, instead of placing GIF into Photoshop file, do the opposite. 1. Open or make the Animated GIF 2. Switch to the Motion Workspace Notice all the frames in the timeline, etc. 3. Open Background image – copy/paste or place to the "Bottom of the Layer Stack" of Animated Gif 4. Select all the frames, and include the new background layer which is turned on for all frames 5. Check a few areas before imaging tracing. 1. Is the image in a Layer that is Locked? if so Unlock Layer. 2. As mentioned in earlier thread, if Image is inside a clipping Mask? Object>Clipping Mask>Release This will help when selecting an image. Keep in mind when Mask has "Released" it becomes an Unpainted Object (No fill or stroke color) Don’t forget to select the image. https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/image-trace.html

File > Place is the way to go. More on that below: In the Place dialog box, select the Word document that you want to place, which enables the Show Import Options checkbox and click Open. This will display the Microsoft Word Import Options dialog box. Formatting section located at the bottom of the dialog box. There are two main choices when importing text from Microsoft Word. Check Option 1. 1. Remove Styles and Formatting from Text and Tables – This will strip out all formatting from the Word document and use the current style in the InDesign. Except if you CHECK: PRESERVE LOCAL Overrides – will preserve your italic and bold formatting from your original document. What Option 2 will do..... 2. Preserve Styles and Formatting from Text and Tables – This will retain any formatting applied in the Word document and also gives you the option to import any Word styles and Map Word styles to InDesign Derek's added, "Preptext.jsx script" is a nice bonus.
