Quick question; Why does the ‘Out of Gamut’ Warning appear only on RGB? My understanding was this was out of the gamut to what can be produced with ink or within CMYK anyway – So, for me, this has nothing to do with RGB so why does it appear here? RGB: CMYK: Thanks!

It's funny you mentioned that - This was one problem I'd noticed from a previous version that was printed and i was also unsure how to rectify it see below; As you can also see, the blue border is thinner then the green, the circles give this away - Anyway to counter that at all? So, your suggestion to counter this is to reduce the circle, and by putting into white area do you mean like this; Dislike the circle personally, so lost it. I should have mentioned, they’re offering an overprint service on the cover. The actual 32-page document is set up as facing pages, the covers I’ve just laid out as non-facing pages… I should really change those I guess! It's going to be Saddle-stitched Here’s what I get with 3mm as mention above on the 32 page. Do you think this will suffice? I am in contact with the printers Does that look correct? Hi guys, I'm hoping your infinite knowledge will give me some peace of mind - I'm used to printing 1 or 2-page flyers but I've been given a job of creating and getting printed a 32-page catalogue. I'm quite nervous as they're wanting to print some 14,000 and I just want to make sure that I've set the PDF up correctly. Particularly below's red underline at 2.117mm, I changed this to 3mm and my crop marks no longer overlap the final PDF (Which I think they should?) Image 3 is as default 2.117mm What concerned me the most, is this white space around the outside, I thought my bleed would take this to the edge? particularly the purple colour i thought would be right to the edge. I'm fairly sure I've set this up right but figured I could show you guys for peace of mind. Thanks.

Yes, you can. It's called Image Trace - It's not perfect but will give you a pretty good building block to start. Open your Raster image > Using Selection Tool (v) Select the image > Object > Image Trace > Make and expand As i'd mentioned it's not perfect; And arguably if you want nice clean, straight lines you'd be better off just creating it yourself as this image is noisy as heck but, it works surprisingly well for most images.

Also like Michael i had to use translator so I'm sorry if we've missed the point here but from what i understood; You've been using Illustrator for 15 years and now you want to move onto photoshop? As you'd mentioned the interface is quite similar but these are two completely different software for different jobs. Illustrator is vector based and is good for logos, mockups and illustrations (among 100 other things) Photoshop is pixel based and is good for image manipulations, editing and web mockups (Again, among 100 other things) From what I understood you'd like a guide or training for photoshop? www.lynda.com/ is great and offers 30 days free!

RAW files are compressed files, but are “lossless” – that is, they lose no information in compression. Generally speaking, a RAW file will be three to four times larger than the same image shot in JPEG, not in dimensions, but in megabytes. So this is why you’re experiencing the file size decreases. JPEG image is a compressed image, and that in the process of compression, a very small amount of information is lost.

The more I'm reading about this the more I'm feeling it's a bug and needs to be reported to Adobe, anyone else's suggestions will just be temp fixes. To hopefully get a permanent fix you should post here; Feature Request/Bug Report Form I'd also use some of Dave's info when writing your report and maybe Dave can help you get to exact reason as to why this is happening. if he can it will help the Adobe team in fixing it! I've been given a document to work on from another designer and for whatever reason, they have added a basic feather to every image. I don't need this feather and frankly, it's annoying lining an image up with it activated so I've been turning them off as and when. i was hoping someone had a script which could do this for me? or perhaps there is a shortcut command I'm not familiar with? Appreciate any support.

Would you mind posting a picture of your entire photoshop window? Seems silly but it slips me up occasionally; check you're on the correct layer and the layer has some value to clone from, often i'll make a new layer that i want the clone to be placed but you have to have the layer you're copying from your active layer.

Nothing wrong with panning angles in my opinion, of course, it depends if the shot warrants it or not but I wouldn’t outright refuse to pan. It’s mainly based on your equipment, it’s all well and good having a $5000 camera but it’s still going to poor if for example you don’t have a gimble stabilizer and the shot is moving with the subject. The best way to learn is watching videos and if I like a shot I will watch it back and try to mimic the camera persons work, what could they have used for this shot, why did I like it. 1 last bit of basic advice is understanding the rule of thirds

Hi Ru, Could you screenshot an image of you illustrator page? It sounds like you’re looking at a rasterized image, which is made up of many or few pixels depending. If you don’t want pixels on your image, you will need to create a vector and if outputting as png / jpeg which again will rasterize your image you will need to design the vector to the desired resolution.
