It's very strange circumstances and even Adobe had said they've never received such an odd error before. It's like it all there but not wanting to display! i may give them a try if i can get sign off from my M.D... £42 with no guarantee + a fee after That being said the fee of me having to recreate everything would out weight that so, we shall see! Hi Barb, I followed your steps above but i get "Unable to set bounding box" and won't let me place the text. Furthermore, it doesn't appear to be giving me the table either I may just need to go through and manually add these all back in... Thanks for helping.

Hi Barb, Just about to do this for you, i decided to move the pages to a new document and as I'd done that the invisible image appeared on the new page and the text boxes re-appears but my tables are still missing Also, the weird line in the centre page is on the new document too. Hi Bill, Thanks for getting back to me, they were not anchored to a text frame, though one of the tables had an image placed within it and the image remains on the page. I've since done testing and if I add an image to a table then delete the table the image is removed as well so I don't know what that's about! Images are still showing up in the links panel and are not missing from the folder or need updating, "Go to link" does the below (see image). A weird orange line down the centre between both pages, I hover over the middle bit and mouse changes to a resize arrow but can't do anything to it. It also doesn't appear to be a frame just a line. Double-clicking does nothing either if I try to move it using the arrow keys I get this message " This value would cause one or more objects to leave the pasteboard." The red area is where this weird line appears, Blue is where the image should be

Hello, I'll keep this brief as I've spent an hour on the phone with Adobe Support and nothing could be done, try my luck here as one final effort. I've just completed work on a 176-page catalogue, I saved it as PDF ready for print and sent it on to the printers I'd then noticed a few small errors so made the changes to 6 pages or so, PDF'd these pages separately and pass them onto the printer. After finally being happy with the document I then wanted to get the catalogue ready for web view so started looking through it again and noticed a lot of my tables, content and images are completely missing. As if it's been deleted, my first thought was to check the PDF as I'd sent it to print and it looks fine, tables were where they should be etc. I know your first thought is, "He has deleted the objects" but to do that on 100+ pages without realising i'm doing it, incredibly unlikely and only on specific objects like tables rather whole pages... I'm stumped, I've obviously saved the InDesign without noticing these errors and now i can't seem to revert back. It was literally in the space of 2 hours from the document being 100% perfect to how it looks now, i just need to go back in time to a previous save. Hoping someone has a miracle up their sleeve but understand this is unlikely. Things i've tried so far; Checked if the layer was hidden Checked if I'd saved a previous version Right clicked file > Properties > Previous Version...Nothing. Adobe created an IDML file (Not sure why)

Just wanted to confirm something I'm 90% sure I already know the answer to but... Converting images from RGB to CMYK then converting back from CMYK to RGB doesn't work, does it? Though i know technically you can do it, the question is, should you? The process of converting an image from RGB to CMYK loses the vibrant colour gamut so converting that back to RGB won't restore what is already lost, this is what I understand anyway. Of course, I still have my images backed up as RGB, though I'd made some edits to over 200 images while they were CMYK so if it can be done, I'd prefer to convert it back but i don't want to compromise on the quality so if I need to re-edit then I will. And yes, I understand that I should have just placed RGB images into InDesign and let it do the conversion when exporting as PDF but old habits die hard and it's been drilled into me for 10 years that everything must be imported as CMYK... perhaps a lesson learnt! Any information would be appreciated, thanks

Thank you for all the responses, I'd just tried your suggestion and still came back with the above error, so i'd decided to update the 5 missing links and retried. Surprise, surprise; it worked and updated all modified links. So, that's one for future references; make sure all your links are not missing before trying to update! Many thanks, guys. I was seriously 30 minutes away from double-clicking each of them!!!

Hello, Does anyone have a quicker way of modifying updated link errors? I've looked around the panel, the error panel and bar double-clicking each one individually i can't seem to work it out. I'd even go to Keyboard Shortcuts > Panel Options > Links: Update All and it didn't fix this issue (I assume this is meant for something else?) Any help is appreciated! (*Please ignore the text and missing link errors!)

More RAM is better for photoshop, but being said, it really depends on what you're using it for. Personally, i have a 980 GTX and have 8gb of RAM and for photo editing and drawing with my wacom it runs perfectly, The dell would future proof your PC for longer though!

Just so I know I’ve learnt something rather than just passing on what you’d said; The article you’d supplied was very helpful, particularly with his comment about “billboards getting away with 10ppi” as the viewing distance is so far away it doesn’t matter. So, dependant on the viewing distance, let’s say for this van it’s 60-80 inches (of course this will vary as it’s a moving vehicle and you can’t guess who’s going to see it and where from) I’d need between 130-100 ppi but this is only a rough guide as he’d pointed out, so rounding that to 96ppi won’t make too big of a difference. However, I’d just spoken to a printing company and they said that while 96ppi would be okay, 300 ppi would give the best result and the only disadvantage is file size, changing it isn’t that difficult either, so, thoughts on this? Now, you’d mentioned a height of 40cm that the image in question should look fine at, however I’m going to assume that when printed on the side of a Van/Truck we’ll be talking more 100cm in height, (4mx7m was a bit ambitious haha, id googled the dimentions of the Van and base it off that without thinking that’s not the print dimentions but the overall van dimentions – DOH!) so the resolution of 1920x1080 will not suffice for this job, or will but will not be of great viewing quality. Reading online they’d need it to be more like 5400x7200 for best results, luckily the images in question are renders and can be recreated to any resolution. Hello, I have a customer who wishes to print an image of the side of a Transit Van, no measurements have been given but for the sake of this thread let’s say the printing area is 5m x 7m. They’re wanting to put an image on the side that is 1920x1080 at 96dpi, I wish to advise them on potential problems they may encounter but i also don't want to misinform them so I want to be sure my information is correct before passing it onto the customer, as I'm not used to printing large images and usually deal with vectors which is much more easier when scaling. please pick me up if I’m incorrect; “I’ve attached a large collection of images for you to choose from – I’d keep in mind that when printing on to something as large as a vehicle that Pixels and DPI play a key part in the overall quality of the print, For example the images that you’d sent to me have a dpi (Dots per inch) of 96 which literally means 96 ink dots per inch, when printing on a4 paper 72 dpi is fine but when scaling up to a large vehicle, 72 or even 96 would be much more visible – your images should have 300dpi (This is dependent on the actual size you’re wanting to go to print with, I’m assuming large 4m+, keeping the aspect ratio) Also, you’re limited to how many pixels the image has when created, 1920x1080, for example, will still have 1920x1080 pixel no matter how large you scale it, the sum is always 1920x1080 = 2073600 pixels even if you scaled it to 4m x aspect ratio, so it will look good from afar, but far from good up close. It’s worth speaking with the printing company before committing to any designs as they will have a much better understanding.” As always, many thanks to everyone who responds and hope it helps someone else out in future!

It's rather annoying to have to do a workaround when clearly they'd intended for Tables to function like a rectangle object, else they wouldn't have added the 'Edit corner' function to a tables frame in the first instance. In fact, I'm rather confused why it exists if it serves no purpose? Many thanks, Uwe, your solutions seem to be the best option as i'm certainly not going paste text on top of an object when i'm 160+ deep... In fact, i quite like the sharp corners after all this discussion!!

Hello, I'm trying to style my tables and want some curved corners, I select the table, click the yellow 'Edit Corners' button, make the curve...then it throws the table outside the frame and when i click my frame to resize the table doesn't have the curved corner (Although the frame visible does. Anyone know why and how I can easily fix this? (the frame is not separate, it's the frame of the table - it's just acting weird)

Hello, I'm hoping someone familiar with Tables within Indesign will be able to help me, I've created a table with 54 Rows, 11 Collums which is to be printed on a landscape a4 page, I'm limited to only using 1 page. As I understand, the logic InDesign uses for the size each grid is, is determined by the font size which sits inside, As you can see from this image, the highlighted text is size 6pt font, the text below is 3pt (Eza, Phoenix), the blue box indicates the margin difference between each font. (PLEASE CLICK IMAGE AS RIGHT SIDE HAS BEEN CUT) In order for all 54 rows to fit onto the A4 landscape page, I've had to make the font size 3pt to get the perfect size grid, however, size 3pt text as you can imagine is almost illegible because of how small it is. As you can see from the image above, I've copied the size 6pt font (Citadel) into its own text box and moved it down and it fits perfectly with enough margin between. But I don't want to have text boxes over the top of this table, I'd rather it all neatly be one table. I thought adjusting the row height would solve this but actually, it just makes the text disappear, Does anyone have a solution to my problem? (Hopefully, I've explained this well enough - Let me know if more information is needed) Windows PC, Indesign CC 2018

You’ve got no need to change/remove the dpi as this is something for printing companies to use. For changing ppi; When you export the file, you define the resolution to the screen (72 ppi, 300 ppi etc.): Menu > File > Export > choose the format you want > Resolution: screen (72 ppi) For future reference, try to be more descriptive with your thread title and also if English isn’t your native language the Adobe forum has a brilliant translation tool and if supported you can ask a question in your native language

Be sure you’re signed into Creative Cloud as this happens to me and all my fonts will go missing, Another thing to keep in mind is just because it’s got the same Font name, doesn’t mean it’s the same font. For example, I was given a customer’s design package, which contains the font EUROSTILE – which I already had from Adobe’s Typekit. For the life of me, I couldn’t get it to recognise the font I had already installed and all EUROSTILE fonts were “Missing” When I converted it to the Typekit version I already had it threw everything out of the text box because as it turned out the one that was packaged (I figured) was an illegally downloaded fake. This could be similar to your Myriad Pro problem where you may have downloaded it externally and also have the Typekit version, so two separate fonts with the same name – It’s a simple Find Font and replace with.

Hello, once again guys! I'm hoping you'll be able to help me, i'd created an A4 portrait catalogue and have been asked to create an email signature with the cover of the catalogue on it. I've tried the following and every attempt leaves the image pixelated or VERY pixelated Export as.PNG and scale down in photoshop Create a new document in InDesign at 88px x 123 px, scaled everything down (Looks good as all images are vectors and words until I save it as an image and bring into PS where it's pixelated again. 88px x 123 px as this is the desired size for the signature. Does someone have some guide? I was about to try resampling but have read mixed results... Any advice is appreciated - Posted in photoshop as i feel this is the program for this.

You can’t change the default ‘Save as’ it will always save as a PSD, since you’re saying the default is .bmp I think you’re doing something different or I’m missing some information. Could you post a few pictures and maybe a roadmap of your path E.G: File > Save as > default .bmp Thanks

To my knowledge, you can’t change the default “Save as” but what you can do is edit the default for ‘Quick Export As’ Edit > Preferences > Export Type > Jpg Then what you select the layer you can quickly save it in the desired format. Alternatively, you can also do this; Press Ctrl/command + Shift + Alt + S to save for web. It will remember the settings so you can change quality, file type (png, gif, jpg, etc).
