For the past few months, despite subsequent updates, I regularly can't launch Premiere Pro on my machine without getting stuck on this screen (attached) "Loading MHPC_InitHelper.bundle". Only way to bail is force-quit. I've gone through the usualy process of re-install. Even Cleared prefs. I don't have any issues with other CC apps. I can launch Premiere after a restart. After that it won't launch again... Hoping someone can point to a solution as this is really killing my workflow...

SOO, in my sloppiness that actually took care of the problem. SMH. It was triggering an initial error because it was sending a "null" value to the fill color. Thanks all!

Thanks Dan - I snagged an RGB to HEX conversion use provided in another post. I'm SO close... it actually "works" but I'm getting a bad argument error, pretty much once I added that last line "hexToRgb". It changed the color of the text field correctly, but doesn't like something about the way I'm passing that value into the function. I'm sure it's because I'm using HEX / String values interchangeably, but again the lack of Trace Statements in AE makes it hard to see what data is being passed around. It is a bit sloppy for ease of troubleshooting. Is attached to the Fill > Color property of the text field. Many thanks!! function RGBtoHEX(theColor) {

In simple terms, I'm trying to compare a color that is pulled using the sampleImage() function, to a variable with a specific HEX value stored in it. My scene has a composition in it that has several different colored "swatches" in the same position, separated by frames. So I can scrub the timeline and see if the changes to those colors will trigger the changes I need in the expression. I'm using a series of if statements, and the if's always fail. Since AE has no variable "tracing", I'm using some text fields to display the value of these variables. I think I discovered why it's not working but it's completely unclear as to the cause. I have a reference text field, displaying the value of this function: hexToRgb("0x1B10DD"); The first value it displays reads: 0.10588235294117647 Then I have some basic test code on another text field layer: var swatchComp = thisComp.layer("Color Swatches Pre-comp 1"); swatchComp.sampleImage([5,5],[1,1],false); And its value reads: 0.10588236153125763 They should be the exact same value! If this doesn't work, there's no way my if statements are going to work at all. Btw, I tried adjusting sampleImage to read the value before / after effects (e.g. false or true), no effect. Appreciate any thoughts.

Since the most recent update to Premiere, I've been repeatedly getting stuck on launch on the loading screen during the "Loading MHPC_InitHelper.bundle". So far I've done an uninstall of PP, reinstalled, as well as removing the preferences on launch. After a restart this will sometimes make it past this screen so far. Subsequent re-launches have been hanging on this frame. I'm also openning the program directly, vs trying to launch a project. Thoughts?

Quick tip: While we wait fir this to be resolved, I have one workaround that has been getting me by for now. My main reason for wanting to open up the videos in Photoshop has been to pull hi-res thumbs. If this is the only reason you need to do this, consider this alternative method. Open up your video in QuickTime Player Scrub to the frame you want to use as a thumb Hit CMD+C to copy Go into Photoshop and create a new document from clipboard Hit CMD+V to paste Hope that helps!

Since updating to OSX Big Sur, the Creative Cloud Desktop app icon in the menu bar is stuck in this psuedo dark/white bordered style. This does not change if you are in Dark mode or not. I'm typically running in Light Mode during the day, and have attached a screenshot of the current state. I just went through a comprehensive re-move / re-install of the CCD app to sort out some unrelated issues and it didn't have any bearing on if this worked correctly, so there's clearly a bug at the core.

This is a new issue that just started. Not sure if it's exclusive to me and was wondering if anyone else is seeing that a large number of GUID named files are appearing in the same directory as the .proj file. Each says "zero bytes" on them. They don't delete when closing out the project or quitting premerie, and just keep accumulating as I'm working. Fwiw I went through every combination of fixes in this post. All the Privacy / Permissions fixes. Then completely uninstalled and trashed every preference folder / files, that I could locate for Photoshop. Restarted...etc. Nothing, same issue I've been getting since CC2019. I've posted a link to what it looks like on my machine when I try to open any number of video files. In this case it was a 30mb, short mp4. Just updated to PS2020/21 this past week and this was one of the first things I tried. Still have the same issue where no video files will load up. I've granted all the same disk access etc.

So far this has been working really well but ran into a couple of issues. Noticed that it performs MUCH faster when you are only running it on a single continuius clip, vs multples. E.g. if you have already made a few cuts and want to edit down everything a bit more granularly... choosing one clip that may have a few different scenes in it performs well, vs selecting multiples, it goes slower and in a couple instances got hung up at the 100% progress and needed to "Cancel". Also, I noticed that when it fails, it doesn't give you a message "Unable to detect scenes" or something a bit more responsive. I have a :30 clip that has ~10 different images in it, each one does a simple slide or crossfade transition. The clip goes to process, however at the end of about 10 seconds of grinding away, nothing happens - and no alert. So far it's pretty awesome though!

Same problem here since updating to Catalina and PS2020. When attempting to open up a video file in Photoshop the progress bar gets about 75% of the way and gradually slows down to a halt never actually openning up the file. In previous versions this only took several seconds. Adding Photoshop to Accessibility and File / Folders Privacy settings didn't solve the issue. Currently runing 10.15.4

Quick followup on this. Do you know the correct path to copy LUTs over to so that you want to be able to always access/apply them in Media Encoder under the Effects tab? I've followed the procedure above and they do not appear. Thank you.

I was very surprised that the effect Masks in Premiere don't have the same features as AE. Particularly, when I need to have overlapping maps on a single effect. I'm wondering if there is any kind of work-around or hidden setting anyone is aware of? Scenerio, I have a device screen I want to color correct independantly of the overall scene. However, the actor's finger moves over the screen at one point. I created the first mask on my second instance of Lumetri to grade the screen. Basic rectangle. Next, I added another freeform mask with the pen tool around the tip of the finger and tracked for several frames as it moves over the screen. The next and intuitive option would be to tell premiere to subtract the 2nd mask from the first, so my color correction only applies to the screen and doesn't mess up what I've already done to the overall scene (including the finger). That option doesn't exist, and "Inverted" doesn't actually apply to the mask above but the whole frame.

Hi Caroline - Appreciate the quick response to this. Had not been using overlays in this project, but had been turning them on and off recently. I did check to see they are "off". Oddly enough, I had cycled through those Render settings, and the problem persisted on Open CL and Metal, and software gave me a checkerboard. I tried it again just now, and it seams to be working on Open CL! Will test on other machines and report back.

We've run into a very strange problem that we've only encountered in CC 2019. Any projects created natively on our machines playback footage just fine. We can scrub the clips in the Source monitor, and they playback great in the Program monitor. Where we are seeing a bizarre issue is anytime we go to open up the project on someone elses machine, we can see the footage play back in the Bin and Source monitor, but can not see the footage in our sequence in the Program monitor. It happens inversely on everyones machines. E.g. original project created on machine A, loaded up on B, won't play back. And likewise on machine B, trying to view on A, doesn't show up.. Attached is a screen shot of what we see. Clearing caches, quitting, restarting, etc with no luck.

My end goal is to determine the length or total distance traveled of a layer's motion path. Before I abandon my current approach, I wanted to find out if I'm missing anything that I may be able to leverage given the new Path properties and functions introduced in CC18. So far it doesn't look like there is a method in place for this because the motion path itself does not appear to be exposed to expressions - unlike an actual shape path, which can be referenced as a property of that Shape layer or Mask. The methods for referencing "Points" along those paths seams pretty well documented. Figured I'd ask, thanks! Stephen

Appreciate your link to the post to help us validate that. @DaveLaRonde – That was the first approach we took, re #2 and 3 in the original post. Thought that was going to solve the problem, but as we've discovered, it didn't have anything to do with the scaling or compression.

We've taken a pretty comprehensive attempt at exporting the videos in various ways both from AE and AME. We've exported as Lossless, Match Size - High-bitrate mp4, Quicktime ProRes LT, etc. We also performed a base test with a native 320x480 comp and text against the same backgrounds, with little or no improvement. So after trying several different variations on how to solve for this, we've concluded that it's likely a player / display issue. This was confirmed by opening up the 320x480 clip in Photoshop and viewing at 100% without the retina compensation. When viewing the video in Quicktime player it will not allow the videos to scale smaller than 576px high - which is completely bizarre. I still have Quicktime 7, and while that shows the video at "normal" size, it's still compensating for the high-resolution screen. During this forced enlargement the videos soften up.

This is an atypical situation that has us pretty baffled. We have a "banner" animation that was originally created at 720x1080. All the content in the animation is solids, live text layers and a couple of photos. The content is beautiful and sharp when we render it out at 100% size. We have to kick out a set of videos at 320x480 which is a proportional size, and each time we scale the comps / animations down the quality goes to hell. The 3 methods we've tried are: 1) First, simply scaling them in AME during render 2) Creating a new render comp for export at the smaller size, dropping the original composition into it and scaling it down to fit the smaller comp size 3) Repeating #2 expect enabling "continuously rasterize" switch We manually set the quality in the composition settings and viewport to "Full", just to be sure. All 3 methods produce renders that have fuzzy type, images and vector graphics. Scaling down does not usually produce this kind of problem. The only thing we haven't tried is to parent the ENTIRE animation to a single null, but that's a rather messy task as we have layers previously parented to others, and for a dozen or so banners is more effort than should be required imho. I know this was a feature available back in CC 2015, and just recently wanted to see if I could enable it again. There doesn't appear to be any documentation (at least in search results), as to whether or not it's available in CC 2018+? I'm looking to have After Effects / Premiere or Adobe Media Encoder provide push notifications to my iOS Creative Cloud app. The CC2015 version even let you see the render progress. This way I can be alerted when a render is completed and / or if it failed. Thank you Stephen

Correct. It doesn't recognize the fields that were added as part of "Prepare Form", when I created the PDF on the desktop app. Basically don't want a consumer having trouble finding the field or clicked randomly and having the app create new fields.

The primary issue is that the PDF form structure I setup in Acrobat isn't being recognized when opening up the PDF's into either of those apps. Also, we need a system by which we can make copies, fill them out and store them back up in our cloud.

Thanks for the quick responses all. It definitely pushed us to try a few more things. It's a convoluted mess right now. But we discovered that we actually are getting the render out of 2018 OK, and it's Quicktime Player that's messing the size. The one thing I hadn't tried was to import the clip back into AE to see if it is in fact at the wrong size, and it is currently showing up at 300 x 600. The million dollar question will be if this works when embedded in a webpage as a banner. If we run into issues with that, I'll update the post.

Our project requires that we can export our animations at several smaller form Banner sizes. The first comp that we've setup is 300 x 600. Historically we are usually able to export content at just about any size, within the limitations of the codec (e.g. a movie not too large for mp4 container, etc...). We have not be successful rendering our comp to actual size. Each time it exports it hits a modified minimum size of 384 x 768. Even though the file metadata indicates the size is 300 x 600, which is the size of our original comp. We have tried multiple codecs and methods. For example, through both AME and AE directly, Lossless Animation, ProRes, H264, and they all result in a video that is forced to scale. This is as you would expect causing pixelation and quality issues. I also tried a brand new project, simple comp set at Full Quality (as were the others), some basic text animations. Rendered out a few seconds, with the same results. At a loss here, because this is completely unexpected. I hope this isn't part of one of those Quicktime "changes". Appreciate any help on this one, thank you.
