Thanks for the suggestion. However that doesn't work either. You can add comments and annotate, but what we are looking for is a structured form that we can fill out and store multiple copies of into the Document Cloud. The documentation I've read insinuates that this can be done, but I haven't found a straight forward approach to doing this.

Goal To create a simple video release form that we can present to participants via iPad, which can be filled out and the resulting form will be stored online in our Document Cloud. Each time someone completes the form we would want to quickly and easily bring up a fresh new form, and repeat the process. Steps so far... I've converted our .doc form to a .PDF and used my desktop Acrobat to "Prepare Form". Something I've done many times. It can now be filled and signed and I've specified date fields. This file has been uploaded into Document Cloud. Current issues First observation, I can select "Fill & Sign" and it brings up the form. It looks like it doesn't easily recognize any of these pre-set fields. You can kind of click in the right spots and it will show the full field that was originally setup, but often i just get a standard width text field, which someone could place anywhere. This defeats the purpose of setting up the form in advance. Is this a bug? Next, I downloaded the app on my phone (was easier at the time) and try to fill it out using the "Fill & Sign" app. I can open it up, but again the fields are not there. In addition, all I can do is just open up that form and fill it out. There isn't any easy method of presenting a blank form, and then hitting save with some versioning. I don't know how to set this up and this is kind of critical to the whole exercise. Would be awesome if when you open it, it says "Fill out or create copy". Regardless, I want to find out if I am heading down the right path. I have to imagine something like this can be supported with Acrobat DC and PDF forms. But I welcome ANY other suggestions as to how to accomplish. Since we are already paying for CC, I was hoping we could do this without having to procure some third-party service to handle this. I've gotten used to the "brand" pushing the "customers" out of their comfort zones. After all, I've been an Apple customer for 30 years. However, this is one particular instance we wasted time trying to find a work around, until we discovered what the actual cause was, had to backtrack and nearly missed making a hard deadline because we were forced into specific codecs. We've learned our lesson many times before to not update software mid-project, this was an instance where we had other issues and were hoping that the update would resolve those problems. However, it created many more. Preaching to the choir, but I'll hope for some sort of "use legacy Codec" checkbox in an incremental release.

Combing through the forums to see if there has been any resolution / recommendations on how to solve this. Right now we've chosen not to upgrade – but it looks like were going to end up having to keep an older version of Media Encoder so we can use HAP and DXV3 codecs, for many of our exports. It's an incredibly frustrating extra step, because we'll need to kick the files out at ProRes first and then re-process. Even more frustrating is that this was just arbitrarily done, with no streamlined work around. We spend the better part of a day troubleshooting this, only to find out the codecs were not supported and downgraded. @Adobe thoughts?

Having the same issue. We are actually working out of DropBox, but this only began with our High Sierra / CC 2018 update in January. Since then I get these regular, annoying alerts. Will try the disabling the iCloud handoff, and report back.

Thanks DJ - the only thing I haven't tried was the import process on my laptop. I use the MacPro extensively for other graphics work, GPU accelerated work, After Effects / Premiere, etc, etc... and everything is working just fine. If it's hardware on the machine, it's something that only Lightroom is tapping into and very obscure. If it's Camera related, it's also a hidden bug that only manifests during the Lightroom COPY phase. As noted, my workaround allowed me to successfully work with the images. Not sure if there is a bit-to-bit check of the image during copy into Lightroom that is somehow causing the issue. But yes, it's worth a check to see if it's the hardware. I also haven't uninstalled or reinstalled the application. I've never encountered this ever before after working with 100k+ images... but there is a first time for everything.

Nearly was dead in the water yesterday after going through my standard procedure of importing photos off my CF card into Lightroom – all raw files ended up corrupted. I'm going to submit this as bug, but I wanted to start a discussion around this incase there have been any solutions that I may not be aware of. I ran into my first occurrence of this problem ever, yesterday, while importing images off a CF card from my Canon 60D. I'm using the latest version of Lightroom on a Mac Pro running Sierra. Attempt 1: Launched Lightroom and selected Import + Copy to the new catalog. During this process and copied and imported everything into the new directory. The JPG previews appear just fine, but as you click on each of the images and the (RAW) .CR2 files load into the cache, the corrupted content replaces the image and you get an unsalvageable photo. I exited and trashed this catalog. Attempt 2: Copied all the images from the CF card to my Desktop. I loaded up one of the .CR2 files into Photoshop and it displays OK. No data issues here at all. Launched Lightroom and created a new catalog. Followed the similar steps as above using the Import + Copy, into the new catalog directory. Same issues manifest. Manually reviewing these images from the new directory by bringing a .CR2 into Photoshop results in a corrupted file. Attempt 3 (Solution/Workaround): Start over with a fresh copy of images from the CF card, moving them into a new catalog directory. Launch Lightroom and only Add the images to the catalog. This results in usable RAW images that are not corrupted. Hypothesis: Lightroom is corrupting the images on copy, during the re-write to the new catalog directory. It's unclear if there are issues with the original data itself that are causing the images to corrupt. However, they copy off the CF card to the computer fine, which narrows down Lightroom as the culprit. I've looked through the Lightroom prefs to ensure it is not able to write changes to the Raw files. A few related posts mentioned something about making sure this was disabled, however in all of those incidences the users indicated their original images were already corrupted off the card. I'm curious to see if anyone else has experienced this. -Stephen P.S. If you are one of the unlucky souls who in fact have corrupted raw images and just want to at least salvage a lower quality version of them... these awesome guys at http://www.fsoft.it/ERawP/ created a free program that extracts preview JPGs from the CR2 files. This actually gives you a nice sized JPG, that you can at least work with vs nothing at all!!

We're experimenting with using Essential Graphics vs Dynamically Linked Comps, and running into a couple of hiccups. The most frustrating issue so far is relating to updates that we need to make to the templates we've already exported. I suspect that the normal workflow is that you would only export these template files when everything is fully locked down. But since there is rarely anything that is ever 100% locked down, an easy workflow for making changes and replacing the files is still needed. I made an update to one of our .mogrt files that comes out of a comp in AE. We needed to make a text field larger... I exported and replaced the original .mogrt file in our project folder. However, this did not update the title card in the project sequence. It looks like Premiere makes a copy of the file in an intermediate folder called "Motion Graphics Template Media". I removed that file and it unfortunately did not automatically re-create it and results in an unlinked file. So it looks like the copy is only made during that initial import. Long story short – there is simply no "reload footage" or "refresh template" option that I can find anywhere... and this makes for an annoying workflow. If I'm missing something obvious here, please let me know! I wanted to gut check before I started submitting feature requests. ThanksStephen

Something odd was updated when upgrading from 14.1 to 14.2. I have a composition that is 6mins long. After the upgrade instead of properly showing the minutes / seconds + frames, e.g. 1:20:15f, it only shows the seconds and frames repeatedly across the composition, regardless of zoom level. Of course if I get really close I only expect to see frame numbers displayed. It's bonkers, either my brain is noticing something that has always been this way or there is a bug. I've posted an image here, so you can see that it's just repeating the timecode without any reference to which minute we are in. If there is some new toggle switch / setting that has been implemented, I will gladly take advice pointing me in that direction! Thanks...

Running 2017.0.2 and trying to sync my preset settings to my CC account before upgrading to the new versions. I've changed my sync preference to "Always Upload" so I pushes my User Presets to the server. I see that 2 recent presets have the cloud icon next to them, but all he rest do not appear to be synced. When I go to force a "Sync settings now", I keep getting prompted to log in, despite checking off "Stay logged in". It goes through that process, pinwheel comes up, and then nothing syncs. The last sync date is still showing last August. Repeating the process produces the same results. I'm going to submit as a bug, but given they've rolled out a new version of the software, I'm sure it won't get much attention. Does anyone have any immediate suggestions? Thanks Stephen

Thanks you for your thoughts. I've tweaked just about everything I can tweak inside AE at this point, and on many of these animations I'm previewing at Half/Quarter resolutions, disabled FX, etc... just to get something in the cache at a reasonable time. It's very hard to NOT do at least 5-:10 of previews with the kind of work we do. Very nuanced, articulated animations that I need to be able to play back at full speed. Anything less than that would be like composing a piece of music one measure at a time. It sounds like, so far, my drives aren't factoring into it, as much as AE's ability to simply process each frame.

Hello folks – Purpose of the thread is to get some feedback regarding some preferred setups for external drives, and if anyone has discovered some particularly effective combinations of drives / methods. Things are changing rapidly enough and SSD's are finally getting cost effective, that even threads 2-4 yrs old are no longer as relevant. My current setup is: Mac Pro (Late 2013) 3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5 32 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 AMD FirePro D500 3072 MB Adobe CC 2017 I'm working entirely off of an external OWC Thunderbolt 2 RAID(5), with 12TB of storage, using SoftRaid as the virtual controller. I put this in service back in 2014, and this has worked well from a storage and reliability standpoint. Though, it remains to be seen what kind of performance increase I would get migrating my files to another setup. Before I throw a ton of money into an SSD Raid, or drives, I wanted to see what people think is a good way to go. Despite having a pretty darn good pro setup, I'm seeing horribly slow RAM previews. Once cached everything plays totally fine. It's that miserable .5FPS rendering that is taking forever. Sure processor can effect this, but creating motion sequences that are comprised of high-resolution photos that are 5-25MB each, seems to bog down my system. I think that the slow loading of those images into AE off the drive, into cache, is where poor performance starts. To start, I tried using an external SSD drive that was large enough to use as an external cache (but not to hold my project), to see as a Scratch Disk / Disk Cache made any difference. It really did not, at least, not for speeding up the render. Curious if going to a much larger 2TB-4TB SSD setup over TB2 would improve things? And then I'll use a JBOD setup to periodically back up that drive, rather than using a RAID setup on the main video drive. Appreciate any thoughts people might have! Steve

Not a perfect solve - but I'm in the same situation. The first thing I did after I imported the .srt file was to drop it into the timeline. Then right-click and select Scale to Frame Size. This works better than "set to frame size". It also seems to hold up just fine when it's scaled, as it appears to still treat it as live type. Then comes the challenge with adjusting the position. You can't use the Caption settings. This would require that you select each caption in the timeline, one at a time. I used the Effect Controls to move the position of the actual "clip" where I wanted the text to appear.

My two cents, but... this conversation is straying far beyond it's original purpose which was to discuss why AE may be performing slower on the new MacPro's and if there are solutions that we can share to improve the performance. OR consolidate feedback from Adobe that may include product improvements. This issue still persists in CC 2015. Just hooked up my 3rd display on a MacPro 2013 - two monitors are connected via thunderbolt and the 3rd is an LED TV connected using the HDMI port. For some reasons, similar to the rest of you, it thinks my LED TV should be the second display. This is also contrary to the configuration I have in my OS. Which is from L to R [Dell 24"][Dell24"][LEDTV], with the left most being primary and other dell being secondary, and so on. Really annoying...

Just stumbled across this lame "reset adjustments" bug in a project. Half way though grading and all of the sudden I can't copy adjustments to other clips, and then if I disable the Primary grade and re-enable, everything is reset.... ugh.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who's been frustrated by this – and despite already contributing my opinion to the thread, I've now spend several weeks working through the latest AE and Premiere project, and I'm sorry... just can't get use to the blue. To echo T Milner's point above, I constantly have to double take to see if the keyframes are selected, and have on numerous occasions waste time getting the correct group selected. The blue also doesn't pop against the gray in terms of things selected. Either because of habit or the fact that the gold just stands out better, I feel like I'm searching around a bit more for selectable text, toggles, etc... than before. I hope that moving forward a global setting to change the blue to something else will at least be provided, now that the first step to make the interface's more uniform has been done.

Also throwing my 2 cents in, as the gold for parameters values. Gold and gray balance very nicely, and the blue kind of vibrates against the grey on my screens. I appreciate that Adobe is trying to make each program more uniform. I'm sure many hours were spent noodling with the "perfect color" – for something like this, that could work better or worse across all different kinds of screen setups, etc, it would probably be prudent to add a global adjustment to change the color in the prefs.

It's comforting, while also a bit disturbing, to know that I'm not the only one experiencing these issues. But there's that sinking feeling you get after throwing $4k down on a machine and seeing hardly an improvement on the software you use day-to-day. @Todd_Kopriva, until recently I've always considered AE to be a rockstar, and I know that's because you have a great team over there. So If there are any opportunities to hand off some updates you are working on to the "power users" so we can put it through some real world testing, I'd be pleased to jump on some pre-release software and do some side-by-side comparisons. Hopefully something constructive can come from all this feedback... Steve

Was just about to author a very similar post in the interest of find out what settings will allow me to make the most of my new 2013 Mac Pro? Rendering and refresh shouldn't only be marginally better than a 2011 Quad-Core with a 16GB RAM, single 1.3Gig Nvidia GTX570. Currently running 2014.0.2 (13.0.2.3), on a 3.5ghz 6-Core, with 32GB of RAM and the dual D500s. All the media is being pulled in off a 12TB Thunderbolt 2 RAID 5. Let's push this machine as far as it can go! I want flames coming out the top, right now I probably couldn't keep my coffee warm Very interested to see the next update, cheers!

I realize this is an old post, but maybe it will still help. Was looking for the same functionality in Photoshop as in InDesign, where upon selecting "Replace all Missing Fonts", there would be a dialog box allowing me to choose the fonts to replace to. Instead, it just arbitrarily selects "Myriad Pro", regardless. My solve, as clunky as it is, worked OK if your whole document uses the same font for everything. E.g. a font across multiple slides of a presentation. Using the newer filtering options in the Layer menu, select the "Filter for Type layers". Select all the type layers with the yellow triangle warning. Go to your Type menu and select the font you want to replace to. You will be prompted for each layer to confirm the change, get ready to hit "OK" a lot of times. Click on the "Filter for Type Layers" option again to restore your full menu list. Should take care of the issue. With that said, this is a feature request that is well overdue! Steve

That was totally the solution to our problem! We wasted hours on chat and phone support with Adobe, and didn't get anywhere with the solution, despite being pretty explicit about the issue. It nearly grounded my After Effects course, as half the kids who upgraded to Mavericks over winter break were unable to update CS6 to the latest version so that the software could launch, all related back to this erroneous "Admin rights" message. This ZOOM "bug" is driving me crazy. But with some noodling, I think I'm able to offset it. Not perfect, but considering I'm compositing smoke and explosions I don't think anyone will notice. Quick tip. If you want to extract some data points from your C4D file, I've been creating extra point lights and labeling to differentiate. E.g. "marker 1", etc... when you extract the scene data, it will bring in those lights which you can copy and past the position from to a null in AE. There's probably some way of doing this with Tags in C4d, but the few I tried (like External compositing) added to a plane, didn't work. Cheers all!
