Do the MXFs play in VLC? I'm guessing you somehow didn't record audio. Can you play these back in-camera with audio?

Is another application stealing focus? I've worked exclusively on multi monitors and never had keyboard shortcuts stop working. Don't forget when certain panels are active/in focus, some shortcuts take precedence over others.

Most likely your export format will be 16:9, so you'll need to zoom in your still photos to fit within the 16:9 frame, or you can create/use a template to put an oddly sized image into a frame that makes it look nice in a 16:9 timeline, like this:

Right click your clip in the bin, Modify - Interpret Footage. You can then choose a different aspect ratio.

Taking your headset off? As in physically off your head? That sounds more like a cable is being pulled and one of your cables is losing connection for a brief second. And when you say "change screens" do you mean moving the cursor from one monitor to another or are you clicking in another program to change focus?

If you have a regular wired mouse lying about, you could try unplugging and installating your wireless mouse drivers, rebooting, and seeing if you get the same crashing behavior. This would at least narrow down the possibilities.

Do you have any custom mouse/tablet drivers installed? I remember having an issue years ago related to some old input device drivers causing a crash when moving the mouse.

Instead of the info properties in Premiere, can you use MediaInfo, open your video, and post a screenshot of the HTML view? This will give a much more complete view of your media. https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download/Windows

Can you try moving the files to your local drive and relink and see if performance increases? Rarely do external drives perform well for video files unless you're using a Thunderbolt 3 drive or something made specifically for that sort of workflow.
