"Perhaps" it is how you are attempting to use the stacking option. I don't try to stack an entire folder of images. I use it to stack the images of the panorama, or multiple versions of the same image where I can choose which version I want on top of the stack. But your description of stacking "thousands" of files seems to be putting an undue burden on yourself and not using the feature in a way for which it was intended. I'm using Windows 11 and do not experience the phenomenon you are mentioning. However, there is one option in the export menu that can possibly create the "problem", and that is if you should choose the option to export as original. "IF" your Camera Raw is not up to date and fully compatible with the version of Lightroom you are using then Lightroom will be forced to create the PSD file before it opens Photoshop because Photoshop cannot edit raw data. When Camera Raw is fully compatible with Lightroom the data will transfer to Photoshop without the file being created first, and the PSD or TIF file will be created at the end of the Photoshop session. Is it possible that your version of Camera Raw is not fully up to date? In any case, once a raw file has been opened in Photoshop, when the editing session is complete a new file must be created because Photoshop cannot edit or save raw image data. I don't think such a tool would really be that effective because there would always be some part of the image that would need tweaking. That's why we have the ability to add the different filters and brushes. The sensor in the camera doesn't have the ability to adapt like the eye and the brain does and compensate. I have done considerable scanning, but have never involved Adobe products in the scanning process at all. Keywords added in Bridge will not carry over into Lightroom. They have to be added in the catalog. I do my scanning with a third party application called Vue Scan and then import directly into Lightroom. But you cannot just synchronize the images as such. It will be necessary for you to create "standard" collections and then synchronize those collections. This is only conjecture on my part, but I don't believe the camera is designed for high-speed USB-C transfer, at least not in Lightroom. You basically have two choices. Either continue transferring to the computer first and then into Lightroom or invest in a low cost card reader. It's a much more reliable method for transferring images.
