Using the crop tool can alter the effects of Liquify Filter that have been applied to a smart layer. This occurs without warning and can drastically alter work that has been saved to a layered file. The only ways to restore the Liquify result is either to revert the file to a version saved BEFORE using Crop Tool, or to reset the crop tool to the exact original boundaries of the file.
This can also occur if a smart layer with Liquify FX is drag copied to another file.
Liquify should have an option to link applied FX to the affected Smart Layer so the exact FX are preserved if the file is cropped, or if the Liquify layer is copied to another file of different dimensions.

I’m seeing an issue where all open files that have just been batch processed with the PS Image Processor are being closed by the app. I did not close the files. I have had this issue before. Checking here to see if this is a known issue, or perhaps just a unique symptom of corrupted PS prefs. The files were opened, and saved to HD. I then ran the Image Processor to create low res JPG copies of the files. After the operation completed, the original files had all been closed.

For anyone with a similar issue, I have a simple, workable solution: In this case, there was an OS privacy permissions issue. I was instructed by Wacom to delete all wacom items in the Systems prefs > Security & privacy > Accessibility list. THen I went to apps & uninstalled Wacom Tablet Utlity App. Then restart. Then I went to Wacom.com & downloaded the appropriate driver for my tablet. I installed that & restarted. Then I returned to System Prefs Accessibility & checked (enabled) the Wacom driver. THis resolved my issue with pressure sensitivity in PShop.

I am suddenly unable to control brush pressure sensitivity with Wacom pen. I see many reports of similar issues online, but they are with older versions of PS & Wacom. There is a " ! " warning in the brush palette for stamp & brush tools next to Control Pressure. This is a new issue, not timed with any recent updates. My PS is up to date (22.0.0) as is my Wacom. Wondering if perhaps I upset something in settings. It's always possible that my prefs have bcome corrupted, as this happens more frequently now. But resetting prefs requires so many aditional app resests, that I try to avoid it unless necessary. Are there any current known issues? Thanks for feedback. Mac Pro Late 2013 OS 10.14.6

I just tried to edit my Post above, but the edit option is not available (or I'm not seeing it). After resetting Pshop Prefs yesterday, any text entries are now appearing in ALL CAPS -in any font, and only in Pshop. The Caps Lock is OFF. And the issue only occurs with the Text tool. I can use lower case to rename layers. I also just installed the 21.2.4 update. Lastly in the Finder level Prefs folder I see 2 related Prefs files, and wonder what is the second file: com.adobe.Photoshop.plist com.adobe.Photoshop.plist.f3bQtFG

I am experienceing repeated Pshop Prefs corrutptions, also occastional Save File errors. I just now installed the current update 21.2.4. Is it possible there were program errors/bugs that this update attempts to mitigate? Is anyone else having similar issues? I wouldn't typically inquire about this, but my system has been completely stable (esp Pshop) for many years, with only very rare issues. Recent issues were remedied by restting prefs, but I may be having repeated corruptions which hasn't occured in MANY years. I am using a 2013 MacPro (OS 10.14.6), so perhaps my computer is getting a hint of dementia. I have one critical app that won't currently run on Catalina, so am waiting for that fix before installing Catalina. Thanks.

Photoshop is typically my most stabile app. I recently had corrupted prefs, which I reset then experienced a new corruption a few dasy later. This is uncharacteristic on my system. Is it possible that Photoshop is no longer stable with Mojave? I have an important legacy app that will not currently run on Catalina, so I have putoff that upgrade for the time being. But Photoshop is my primary app, and needs to run smoothly. I have made no recent alterations to my system or added any apps. The only hardware change is a newer SSD for Photoshop scratch, but the first corrpution occured prior to that aquisistion. Thanks for any insight. MacPro (2013) OS 10.14.6. PShop CC 21.2.3

The goal is to export a text block with one copy Stroked/Outlined with no interior fill. The second copy should be filled, with no stroke. (these will export to a 3D modeling app) When I create a text block having a 2Pt stroke and no fill, it remains filled -not transparent. What is required for this appearance? I also tried creating path objects from the text, with the stroke outlined. But then there are compound path errors as I’m prompted that the objects are grouped and can’t become compound. The AI interface has become so complex, that all I encounter are seemingly arbitrary dead ends. (I’m primarily a Photoshop artist -where there are always intuitive solutions to any goal) Is it not possible to spec a simple text block with a solid stroke and no fill? I would then outline the stroked characters and export. The simple filled text copy would then be outlined/exported separately. I have attached a very garish example of the ultimate construction. I also see that active Spellcheck doesn’t seem to work here. Is there a way to enable that? Thanks.

Looks like I can't edit my original post, so here's an update: Prefs reset resolved the issue (as expected) But it would be appreciated Prefs Reset would not alter the interface, color, and misc other prefs settings. If pallettes, burshes etc can be reatined after prefs reset, why can't the other prefs settings be retained? There could easily be a workaround for this.

I had a rare Pshop crash yesterday. Now when I make a lasso selection the lasso cursor icon displays the Minus option inside or outside the selection (when no modifier keys are on). The rectangular marqee tool behaves normally with the same selection. My guess is Prefs corruption, but I wanted to check here for bugs before resetting Pshop prefs. Also, has prefs reset been improved? It typcially requires altering random settings that revert to default after prefs reset. This is annoying, and cumbersome. It would be great to preserve ALL custom settings so the Prefs Reset can be a clean & more frequent cleansing operation. Informed feedback appreciated. OS 10.14.6. Pshop 21.2.3 MacPro 2013

When saving processed Raw files, Photoshop is ignoring the folder where the Raw file resides, and directs me to whatever folder was in use at the last session. I process multiple image files from various folders, so this results in annoying workflow inefficiency. I resolved a similar issue a couple years back, and can't remember the simple remedy suggested by another poster. To be clear: I open & process a raw file. When I initiate a "Save As", instead of defaulting to the folder where the raw file resides, I am presented with random options from previous sessions. I vaguely remember the remedy being to reset the Finder Prefs, but my shaky memory may well be off here. Suggestions appreciated.

PS 21.2.1 - Holding Option (Alt) typically should toggle Lasso Tool to Polyginal Mode (straight lines from click to click. Traditional operation has permitted the tool to operate this way from the first click (when option/alt) held down. the tool no longer functions this way. This was reported in a post for 21.1 version: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop/changes-or-bug-in-21-1-lasso-tool/m-p/10947325?page=1#M309743 Traditionally the tool could be used in free form mode, then toggle to polyginal mode by holding option (alt) -WITH the ability to RETURN to free form mode by releasing option (alt) key. As others have noted similar behavior with this tool, it would suggest that this is not a corrupted prefs or unique issue on my system. If this is a bug, please correct ASAP. If this is NOT a bug, please revert tool to its traditional operating modes, as this has been SOP for MANY years! Thank you

I open a raw file from an existing folder, edit in Bridge, then open in Pshop. When I Save or Save as, the link to the original folder does not appear at the top of the destinations list. Am foreced to search for the destination -whcih should be the DEFAULT destination. This occured awhile back, and I believe was remedied in a Pshop update (can't recall exactly). With the most recent update, this phenomenon has reappeared, and I have to search for the destination. As I process many files from different locations, it can be very time consuming. Resetting prefs is still very time consuming, so I prefer not doing that as a knee jerk cure all, unless necessary. Any suggestions? Thanks (Current Pshop/Bridge Mac OS 10.14.6, MacPro 2013)

I use the Image Processor to batch export JPGs/TIFs etc. Recently the procedure has been slosing all open files after processing. I didn't not specify this as an action etc. After the files have been processed, there are no files remaining open. Anyone else having this issue? It's always possible that I have corrupt prefs as the culprit, but I'm not having any othere issues. I tried to report this as a Bug via Photoshop Family, but had some weird login issues even though I am registered there. No more time for that at present. Please forgive noob questions (Am an experienced PShop operator, but little exp with PP): 1. It seems like some of my Effects controls are missing from the Effects Bin. I restored Saved Layout, but my Effects still seem limited. This is all I see. 2. While attempting to correct camera movement, I entered "Distort" under Effects at screen right. A folder labeled "Distort" appears below, but it won't toggle to the controls, or folder is empty. (I do have the clip selected in the timeline) Is the function missing, or am I simply not applying it correctly? 3. I select "Help" from the pulldown at top of screen, then enter "Distort", but nothing appears. I often notice theat Help pulldown does not seem to function properly in certain Adobe apps. Does the Help module need to be downloaded/installed? Thanks for your expert input.

What's an easy/efficient way to make a video from a slideshow? (Preferably with dissolves/pans etc -like "Ken Burns" effect) Another project is to take complex layered composites in Photoshop (I'm a pro retoucher) and create a video with step by step transitions, starting with the orginal image & adding layer by layer with dissolve transitions. I've done this entirely in Photoshp before, yet the transtions weren't as smooth as I'd like. But that was a few years ago. Perhaps better in current version? I'm a full CC subscriber, and am most proficient in Photoshop/Bridge. Less so with Premiere Pro. Thanks for your suggestions.

As mentioned above, when I forst load my DNG files into Bridge (10.0.3) the previews are brighter & resemble what I saw on the monitor at capture. Within moments, the previews appear to refresh and all appear darker. The images becomre far darker if captured in low light. I'm tryong ascertain if this is a prview issue in Bridge, a possible lack of support for the camera model I used (Mavic 2 Pro drone) or perhaps an innacurate preview in my monitor at capture. The part I don't understand is why the images at first look as they did in the monitor THEN suddenly refresh & appear far darker. The screenshots attached show the images immediately after the Bridge previews appear, then after they update with the darker previews. The first 3 or so images have already become darker as there was a slight delay when I captured the screenshot

The previews in Bridge/Camera Raw for one of my cameras looks as they did whan I captured the images, then they go very dark. I'm shooting with a DJI M2P drone, and I adjust exposure based on the image preview in the Smart Controller. The previews in Bridge look many stops darker than they did on the Smart Controller monitor. But for a second while Bridge is generating preview, the images look as they did on the Smart Controller. The images remain dark in Raw Reader. (very under exposed) The captures are saved as DNG. I'm guessing that somehow the embedded sidecar settings are not being properly read by Bridge/Raw Reader. Perhaps raw reader doesn't have the proper setting for that camera like it has for my DSLR. Or perhaps there is something in Bridge/Camera Raw Prefs that needs adjustment? The key here is that before the previews in Bridge are completely generated, the images look far closer the the captures when I took them than they do after the previews are updated. Thank you

I typically press option then click to center a path created with the Rectangle vector tool. This is not functioning corrrectly at this time. (PS 21.1.0 with Mac OS 10.14.6) I just restarted computer, which did not resolve the issue. Yes, I know that resetting prefs MIGHT resolve. But that is time consuming as there are so many settings that STILL need to be reset manually. Just wanted to see if there's a bug or feature change in 21.1.0 Thanks Also, when I attempt to search an issue on this site, I may get answers for similar issues in Illustrator , or other Adobe apps. Is there not a way to restict searches to Photoshop only? (I may well have missed that memo)

Thanks. Yes I validated all fonts & removed problem fonts. I also Restored Standard Fonts. That resolved the issues. Some of the other items in your post sound helpful too -will do.

I just updated to Photoshop 21.1.0 which quits whenever I select the Font Tool or do anytng with text. I suspect I may have some bad fonts. I manage my fonts with FontBook which does not seem to offer a view with Active Fonts only. (I posted a query in the Apple Forum, but wondering if there is perhaps a specific issue with Photoshop) Does anyone here use FontBook? I suspect the best plan is to disable all fonts, except for the required Standard System Fonts. Is there a way to do that in one sequence? I'm worried that if I disable ALL FONTS, there may be issues for the time the Standard Fonts are disabled. Aynone know of any font specific issues with PShop 21.1.0? Also, Im running OS 10.14.6 & I wonder if that may cause issues with current PShop? (If I upgrade to Catalina, I will lose access to an important app that has not yet been updated for Catalina) Thanks.

Correction: I meant to say "Transform Function" -which is a function as opposed to a toolbar tool. So I don't know how that would be reset. I typically make a selection, invoke "transform" (command/T) then scale the item. Sometimes the transformation is constrained, sometimes not and I have to hold shift key. I am typically using smart objects when resizing selections.

Perhaps I have corrupted prefs, but I find the Trabsform function is not always constrained in XY, and I'm sometimes back to using shift key. Other times scaling IS constrained and shift key disables constraint. This tool had the same function for over 20 years. I know there has been discussion on this. But the inconsistant operation is a new time waster. Is it just me? (21.0.2) I also find that phantom control points still occasionally appear using the pen tool. Again, perhaps it's my system. But these features were basically flawless for many years & suddenly erratic. {Thread renamed by moderator}

If a smart object is modified with Liquify, and the image canvas dimensions are enlarged, the Liquify results are altered. Liquify results are similarly altered if a smart layer with Liquify applied is moved to another file. I don't see this addressed in the Phtoshop Help Guide, or anywhere else, although I did not search the entire web. This issue can be avoided by never altering canvas size, or dragging the smart layer to another file. But these are very limiting restrictions. I am now using Photoshop 21.0.1 and the issue is unchanged. See attached images. I believe this is an issue that should be corrected. Perhaps I'm missing an obvious fix? When I check Adobe CC Apps it states that 20.0.7 is the latest version, which is what I have. If there's something more recent it's not showing up under Adobe CC Apps. But I'm not an IT whiz, and may be looking in the wrong place.

I think I discovered the cause of this issue. Perhaps this is a known aspect of liquify, and I'm the last to know. I made a test file, then expanded the canvas. The liquify results didn't revert, but they were ceratinly altered. I guess Liquify results are computed based on all the image pixels, and if the canvas is altered, so are the liquify edits. I guess this would explain why live Liquify smart layers can't be dragged to another file. Again, I suspect that I'm the last to know. THis seems like something should be remedied.
