Hi, I'm afraid that doesn't help us much. I would suggest you search for rendering tutorials for After Effects CS6, there are a few online. For a start I would not use the boxes in the secret tab unless you are absolutely sure you know what they do..

Hi Joseph. You have the right idea about using precompositions above your background layer. If you want to keep all the elements, some settings etc in your animation you can duplicate it in the PROJECT Panel (upper left on your screen) - this will create a new instance which you can change without affecting the original.

Hi. It really depends on what look you want to end up with. If you want it ultra realistic then Mylennium is right, if however you want it less so then the CC Cylinder effect might do what you need. You can create the images moving in a flat pre-composition then in your main comp add the effect and play with the Rotation and XYZ position settings to simulate the camera.

You can use Dynamic Link to send sections from PR to AE so that you can work on them and they will update. Look up 'Adobe Dynamic Link' to see what I mean. You could theoretically use AE for everything but it is much much much slower than a dedicated editing program like PR - it has limited playback time and is terrible with sound, apart from having every element on a seperate layer which can quickly become tedious. There are also a lot of the same effects and graphic capabilities within PR.

Hi. What you've read is correct. AE is for adding effects, compositing, adding motion graphics etc. using shorter sections. Only use AE for things that you can't do in PR. AE is not a video editing program, is much slower and is a more complex program to learn. Much of what you can do in AE you can also do In PR.

Hi. That's what it is supposed to do. Toggle open the layer and you can see all the layer's parameters at the same time. There comes a point when you zoom that you are so close to the pixels that they will show up - your image is made up of individual pixels, that's how it works. In the videos you mention I imagine that they are not zooming in as close as you are. Your Composition size should be the same as the size that you are outputting - if you are going to be, for example, projecting it onto a huge wall than you would use the maximum number of pixels that your projector allows. I think you are distressing yourself for no reason, a pixel is like a brick in a wall - one colour, one shape - the closer you get the more obvious the bricks are.

Hi, you are so zoomed in you are seeing individual pixels, your shape should be sharp at normal magnification. If you scale your shape up at normal magnification the rasterization kicks in and it should stay sharp.

Hi. If you are saving RGB+alpha then it should be correct. How are you viewing the file (some viewers show the alpha as black or white)? Load your file into After Effects to double check that the alpha is there.

Hi. There's no reason that this should be happening. Select the layer that shouldn't have the effect and look at its Effect Controls panel (upper left side of your screen, usually paired with your Project panel). There should not be an effect listed in there, if there is delete it.

By the sound of what you are saying the original black characters are not 100% black. You could try adding a Contrast effect to the top layer and increasing the contrast - or go back to the original and double check that it's not dark grey. A Track Matte on Luma/Luma Inverted reads the amount of lightness/darkness in the image, if they aren't 100% then it reads the percentage and uses that percentage as the opacity.

Hi. yes it's easily done. Add another copy of your animation. Add a black solid and place it underneath the top layer of your animation. Set the black solids Track Matte to Luma Inverted (If you can't see the TrkMat box on your layer press the Toggle Switches/Modes button on the bottom of your screen). Now place whatever you want below the black solid layer and the characters will stay on top.

Hi. If I read you correctly you will only need one set of nodes. Set up your first version by drawing your shape, add a keyframe on your Mask 1/Mask Path. Move along to where you want the transition to start for your next shape, add another keyframe. Move to where the second shape is established and move the nodes to the new position. (Now the first graph will hold, then transition to the second). Keep repeating that process. Add the Stroke effect to give you the line.

Hi. There are several ways to go about what you want to do. In your first example you can precompose the layers then do the transition in the main comp. You could also parent the layers to a Null for your rotation example without precomposing.

Hi. Select the composition in the PROJECT PANEL - usually the upper left panel on your screen. Then Ctrl+D to duplicate it - this will give you a new version and it's a good idea to rename it appropriately.
