What operating system (exact build number, please), what version of InDesign, how much RAM? Do you have Magnet installed? If so, deactivate it.

Did you read this entire thread? If not, please do. If you did, I'm not sure how anyone can make this any more clear. Mailto links are an archaic way to handle this and two years later it's even more archaic. This is not an InDesign issue and there is nothing that is going to change that. There are too many email clients, too many PDF readers, and too many web mail platforms. It's obviously not what you want to hear, but it was the answer two years ago and it still is.

Excellent points but I'd still like to make sure there's no inside bleed. If there is, it could easily cause this but I can't help but think it would be obvious on screen.

First, you attached a screenshot of this post, not your Mac specs, and secondly there is absolutely nothing odd about this happening after and update. In fact, that's when most of the issues do pop up. Can you roll back to 19.5 while Adobe tries to address all of this?

Are you using Magnet on a Mac? If so, it's Magnet that needs to put out a patch. If not, we'll need full system specs.

Brad, I wasn't referring to InDesign. The discussion was about Pagemaker and getting a PM file to version 6 or later to open in InDesign. The only way to do that is to open it in a later version of PM which has to be on the same platform. Of course we've now ascertained that the file in question is a PM6 file so that point is moot.

You need to provide your full system details. An i3 processor is not disqualifying. We don't even know if you're on Mac or Windows so please provide RAM amount and full operating system version number.

You can't. Only the 2024 and 2025 versions are available. You can try contacting Adobe but I wouldn't count on getting much help.

The OP is not printing inhouse. They are using an outside printer and suspect this is simply a poor job of page imposition.

I edited your post title, but that's not going to help the issue of opening the application. If I were you I'd start looking at alternatives and explaining why you need to use 2017 because you're not likely to get any assistance from Adobe.

And why are you doing this when you have the original document? Copy/paste from Acrobat has never been all that great and I'm not so sure anything you do here is going to improve thing. PDF is a final format and while editing has come a long way, it's still best to use the original document for any kind of work.

Working in a Dropbox or OneDrive folder carries all the benefits of working locally along with having a full back with version control. That is my recommended workflow and has been for many years.

If it's an identical structure, create a paragraph style for each. Set each style to follow the previous and last one set the next style to the first. Select all of the text, right click the first style and choose apply xxxx and next.

Honestly, if it looks good in Acrobat, there is nothing to fix. You'll have to dumb down the PDF by flattening or creating all the effects in Photoshop and replacing all the graphics. If you elect to flatten all of the transparency, you will wind up with stitching artifacts.

If the files are in a Dropbox folder make sure that any smart sync features are disabled so that the file is fully synced to your local harddrive.

Let's dive a bit deeper and if I'm repeating anything I apologize but there's a lot going on here. Is the swatches panel docked or floating? Can you apply swatches from the Control panel? Can you apply them from the Color panel? Can you apply them to styles?

If it were a bug it would be easily reproduceable. I won't eliminate anything out of hand but I would bet on it being something unique to your computer and configuration.

Wow. I thought they pulled those long ago. Not that they're going to do too many people any good. With activation servers getting cut off and no resets anymore, those old versions are getting very long in the tooth.
