What layer is the black background on? Is the rectangle set to overprint or does it have a blend mode or transparency effect applied?

You could say the same about InDesign, right? This discussion is more than a year old. It's best for you to start a new discussion with full system details so I'm going to lock this. But, if you have Magnet installed, uninstall it and try turning GPU Performance off in your InDesign preferences.

You're image is saved at 150ppi. InDesign assumes all images, when pixel are used as the measurement in InDesign to be 72ppi. Resave the image in Photoshop.

Why do you need to convert to CMYK? If you really need it for some archaic reason, you can do that conversion on export to PDF.

InDesign 20.0 is InDesign 2025, not 2024.

You are using a version of InDesign earlier than version 20. You need to install version 20 (InDesign 2025) or allow the conversion to take place. If you've received this file from someone else, I highly recommend opening it in 2025 only.

One more thing. In the future you are far better off starting a new discussion than tacking on to one this old. You will get far more help. Normally, I lock topics this old but because an Adobe employee has popped in, I'll leave it open. But, my answer stands. You're wasting your time with buttons, especially if you can't control how the PDF is opened.

This discussion is seven years old. Interactive PDF keeps getting worse to the point where the only viable interactivity that I can possibly recommend are hyperlinks, bookmarks and in some specialized cases forms. Beyond that you're in crapshoot territory. Stop using buttons.

There's your issue, if I understand it correctly. You can't use the download on demand feature. All files and links must be fully loaded on your local hard drive before you try to open them.
