Are these existing files that suddenly show the links as embedded after upgrading? Or are these new files, in that case check if the Link checkbox is checked when placing the files. When this is off, it is off the next time you place a file. When it's on, it's on the next time you place a file. It's sticky.

Easy, don't use Cyan, Magenta, Yellow or Black as names for spot colors, because they are already in use as the default printing inks.

You can do something like that with the fields in the Control Panel. Highlight a field, hold down the Cmd key (or Ctrl on Windows) use the Up or Down Arrow keys and you go with 1/10th increments

I see. A warning with options to solve a difference between identical named colors would be very useful. Another improvement would be that spot colors with a Lab definition and saved to a CC library, keep those Lab values (instead of being converted to CMYK spots).

Sounds difficult to solve. How do you know which color representation is the correct one if the color is not in a book?

Luckily as long as the name is the same the separations will be correct. I can imagine that it will be difficult to know which color is the right one when it is a non standard spot color. I agree that a warning would be nice when a different color with the same name exists, with options to rename, use the current definition or use the incoming definition.

Why is the color in your document a Spot color? It loses the connection to the Pantone Book version. Why would someone change the Book color to Spot and totally change the appearance of the color? A Book color can be seen as "locked", you cannot change it's name and color definition. InDesign has a different approach, it just looks at the name and will display the color correctly in Overprint Preview mode (as long as the name has not been changed).

It is much easier to create the rounded corners in Illustrator, but I see what happens when you copy the shape from InDesign. It creates a Clipping group as you can see in the Layers panel. You can go: Object > Clipping Mask > Release, delete the resulting empty shape and fill the other with a gradient. Or you can select the <Clipping Path> in the Layers panel, delete it and fill the other object with a gradient.

Which version of Illustrator are you using. Did you use the Round Corners widgets? How do you apply the gradient? I cannot reproduce the problem. Maybe show another screendump with the objects selected.

That is correct. If you want Illustrator to show the image as 2800 X 1867 than use a ppi resolution of 72 pixels per inch. Now it is 300 ppi so the amount of pixels are compressed into a smaller area.

You (and others) can use the assets in the CC aps when saved and shared in the CC folder. They just are not available in the CC libraries.
