Yes, you can set the mail message you are composing or the text document to Plain Text and then it pastes as text. The default for these apps is rich text.

Hi Sanjay, that's what I did, highlighted or not it does not matter, if the TextEdit or Mail document is not plain text, it will paste as PDF. Ton

Sanjay, it seems for some applications (Apple Mail and TextEdit) that it does not matter if you use the Selection tool or the Text tool, they paste as PDF anyway. But when your document is Plain Text in Text Edit or Mail, it will paste editable text.

The method from abelcher1987 is more complicated than the Recolor Artwork method Monika suggested. Select an object with the CMYK color and selecting Edit > Edit Colors > Recolor Artwork > Preset > 1 color job… > Library > Pantone whatever you like… This will give you the exact same Pantone color as Photoshop would give you if your color settings are the same in both applications.

But InDesign can. So if you have both, you can create a graphic in Illustrator and paste it into text in InDesign. If you want you can copy that text object from InDesign and paste it into Illustrator.

I have seen threads about this where people edit Host files andgot it working, but I cannot find them anymore. Maybe it's time to ask the Illustrator team directly: ShareWithAi@adobe.com

Mark, I don't know if you got it working, but this worked for me to get the Color Themes working again. It seems like a cache was corrupted. I moved the folder: com.adobe.illustrator from Username/Library/Caches When I launched Illustrator the Color Themes were automatically loaded (and the com.adobe.illustrator was regenerated).

Bilboleo, I think that InDesign is the proper application for your photolog. You can set up master pages with picture frames with your desired fitting and border options. The images can be linked so they don't add a lot to the file size. Reducing the resolution of the end result can be done during printing or saving as pdf.

To crop an image in Illustrator: Select an image and click the Mask button in the Control Panel. This will create a Clipping Mask that you can edit. You can change it later with the Edit Clipping Path and Edit Contents buttons.

The Adobe Reader can do this too (show overprint). Just turn it on in the Preferences > Page Display > Use Overprint Preview and set it to Always or Automatically. So just Save from Illustrator as PDF is all that is needed.

That only works if the Illustrator file was saved with PDF content, otherwise you get this message: This is an Adobe® Illustrator® File that was saved without PDF Content. To Place or open this le in other applications, it should be re-saved from Adobe Illustrator with the "Create PDF Compatible File" option turned on. This option is in the Illustrator Native Format Options dialog box, which appears when saving an Adobe Illustrator le using the Save As command.

In CC 2014 you do not need to drag the swatch out to the Artboard. You can can just double click the pattern swatch to edit it using Jacob's step 2 and save it or save it as a copy.

The default settings for the Eyedropper will pick up the pattern transformations. I can also imagine workflows with restrictions to what can and cannot be done.

Install the English Hebrew version of CC. I would recommend to install a previous version (CC 17.0) in addition to the current CC(2014) 18.0 version, because switching between the English version and the English Hebrew version is impossible (maybe someone someday will come up with a smart script).
