Hendy,
1) I believe this answer from Bobby may give a glimpse of what is needed to ensure clear text (and other artwork) and how print based advice can go against it,
https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/pixelated-linked-files-after-exporting-for-screens/m-p/14503451#M401887
2) PNG24 gives you a full set of colours, just like JPEG, where as PNG8 gives you a limited set of 256 colours, the same as GIF, just as Monika said. So no reason to consider it (for decades).
It is quite simple to multiply 8 times, or 16, times, or whichever number, with the Save for Web just by multiplying (*8 or *16 or whichever number) in the Image Size window.
3) You can see more about it here, under Import, export, and save,
https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/user-guide.html/illustrator/using/default-keyboard-shortcuts.html
and you can also look at some of the other subjects.

If you want to have text with this triangle shape, first create dots, Expand Appearance and Image Trace them:
Ungroup the dots, create a triangle and then use a replacement script, like Monika suggested or this one:
Replace items script: https://github.com/alexander-ladygin/illustrator-scripts/blob/master/replaceItems.jsx

It's 2025 and the bug still here. I'm using Illustrator v29.3.1 (64 bit). Why is so hard to fix such a simple bug? The "Export for screens" is ignoring the "Smooth Edges" setting in the JPG. This used to work a few versions ago. This is not a DPI or file size/resolution! Illustrator is not applying the correct algorithym to smooth the edges of the images!

Hi friends, I tried another way. And worked! (my artboard is 5,2 meters x 3 meters ) 1- in ilustrator export the file to JPG CMYK (I tried TIFF but didn't work) 2 - open the JPG in photoshop 3- export to PDF photoshop X1-A (without PSD editing capabilities). Hope to helped someone.

Katherine, I see the problem in your example file, but cannot replicate it with new artwork.
Currently using 29.3.1 on a Mac.

But the CMYK version created by the Create Swatch Info has already thrown away all the advantages of printing to a printer that ha more than 4 colors.

The teacher should have given you correct instructions.

They same thing is happening to me, even though I didnt give any permission to Adobe to record my screen. This is an illigal invasion of privacy. If this issue dosent stop I think the best for all users will be to take legal action.
Apple is lying to you. The message just means that Illustrator has the permission , not that it is actively recording the screen. Just turn off the permission in the system settings.

Another approach with a 2 color gradient across a single stroke:
Color changes are best done with Recolor Artwork, which will automatically create a new 2 color gradient.

Can you give some more details about what is happening? Some screendumps and info on Color Settings can help.

The fact that they keep stating they are "unable to replicate the issue" is almost as frustrating as this issue itself. Of course they are unable to replicate because it is something that happens randomly! Sometimes I go days without it happening even one time and other days it happens between every single new file I make (for context I am creating around x10-x25 new files per day, all with different sizes and bleed settings as well). This has been happening for over a year now, and is extremely dangerous for me specifically because I am working with print production files for large format event signage which need to be extrememly accurate in order to fit dims provided by our CAD department for custom structures. I have to triple check every time I make a new file that my sizes match what I intend to avoid expensive reprints. I have gotten into the habit now of verifying my entered sizes, but this should not be happening with software that we pay so much for. Its actually unacceptable.

If you need Illustrator for that specific purpose, you can install an older version like the 2024 version.
If you want to let the developers know your problem, mention it here:

It has been renamed settings in the Illustrator menu and when you open that menu item, like: Settings... > General... it is called Preferences.

"There may be large format printers to do CMYKOG"
There are many.
In fact, my own printer (an HPz3100) has even more: it has 12 inks in total, which include M (Magenta) Y (Yellow) PK (Photo Black) G (Grey) LG (Light Grey) LC (Light Cyan) LM (Magenta) R (Red - which is really more of deep orange) G (Green) and B (Blue - richer and more vibrant than Cyan), along with a MK (Matte Black) and a GE (Gloss Enhancer).
(The extra Blacks and Greys are mostly for superior full-range B&W photo printing, but are also used for full colour work)
It's imperative that this be a color-managed workflow and requires RGB data to take advantage of the wider gamut.
(You will notice there's actually no Cyan – Between the Blue ink and the Light Cyan ink, it covers everything a Cyan would do, so it is unnecessary.). I typically send AdobeRGB data and it's gorgeous.
Also, for my design work, the extra inks allow me to print more than 90% of the Pantone library accurately, whereas a typical CMYK printer can barely handle 20%.
In these printers, the "Light" inks are there to alleviate the problem with sthe catter-dot process an ink-jet uses, as the inkjet "dots" are a fixed size, so at the light end of a color gradient (say between 0-5%) theses dots are very obvious and far apart, so the light inks "fill things in" for a much smoother result.

I don't have that problem anymore, but in the past I had to turn off "Enable Missing Glyph Protection" in Preferences > Type to get the scrolling to work.
