Hi Roy, You can copy your catalog file (the file ending with suffix .lrcat) onto your internal hard drive, and open it from there by double clicking it, or from within Lightroom by choosing File > Open Catalog... Keep in mind, your catalog does NOT contain any images. It is an index of your images, including their location, and any edits you've made, ratings and metadata you've applied, etc. The original photos must still be available for Lightroom to reference. If your photo originals are on the external drive, and you disconnect the drive,you'll still be able to see the images in Lightroom, but won't be able to edit them or export copies, until you reattach the hard drive with originals. You can move the originals to your internal drive, too, but this could take a lot of space.
