I used it for awhile and although it had a few glitches the last version worked pretty good. It was great for culling, rating, keywording and backup in the field and then you could sync these when you got back to the main computer. If you look at the web site, they haven't updated the blog since May 2014 and the program or the app since March 2014. It seems they have quit working on it.

Adobe can sell their products any way they want. Adobe must be making money on the CC version and thats what companies are SUPPOSED to do, make money, but if they are going to sell a standalone version they should market it in a manner that is clear to the customer what they are getting and they are definitely not doing that. They should have a trial for the standalone, I fully agree. I think the CC version is the way to go as even though Lr does 95% of what I need I go into Photoshop once in awhile. I used to get Photoshop Elements to use along with Lr but Photoshop is a lot nicer to use now that I use CC.

But that's exactly what the posted screenshot says.
When a user reads the info in the posted screen shot they are told they will not get feature updates but the trial already has the updates. How is the user supposed to know that Dehaze and a few other things are not in LR6 standalone and were updates to the original program without a lot of investigation that is above normal checking of specs. I agree that they should have a Lr standalone trial to avoid a lot of confusion by the customer. Adobe marketing techniques seem to be as bad as their quality control techniques.

It is the buyers responsibility to check what they are getting but Adobe should have 2 trial versions, one for stand alone and one for CC and if not than make it EXTREMELY clear that they are different which doesn't seem to be the case.

The file size in MB only shows up if you have "EXIF AND IPTC". If you only display "EXIF" the MB does not display, only pixel dimensions.

One BIG problem with DPP is Canon drops support for older versions of their cameras in the newer DPP programs. It is also lacking in a lot of tools available in Lightroom and other RAW converters.

You might as well change your workflow or choose a different Raw Editor as Lightroom is probably not going to change this behavior. I would never use a delete option but have no opinion one way or another.

I don't do too many HDR's as I find Lightrooms PV2012 to be able to edit 99% of my exposures but for those that do this on about every exposure a batch mode like LR/Enfuse does seems like a NECESSARY option.

Good Info, thanks. In that case than it shouldn't be to hard for Adobe to implement a reindex or unindex of a group of selected photos. Getting them to do it is another matter. Seems like a feature many people would like including me. If Adobe won't do it then maybe one of the great plugin authors will implement it.

Victoria I am going to withhold further judgement on the FR tool until I get a little more practice with it and learn the ins and out of how it works as I am liking it better. I will have to get your Lightroom 6 FAQ book when it comes out (when is it expected) as I am sure you will have all kinds of hints to get the most out of it. Hi Victoria, I think he means he wants to go back a week later for example and do the rescan and not at the initial scan phase. I agree there needs to be a rescan option for selected photos to make the tool useable. As it is now it is in the same "sort of usable tool" boat as the slideshow, book, web.

This TEST would be a lot more plausible if you zoomed each photo to the SAME amount, preferably the top clips should be zoomed at 100% and the bottom at actual size showing the same area at the same pixel dimensions..

Which version of Lightroom are you using (2014 as you listed is NOT a version). There were LOTS of bugs in the crop tool in early versions of Lightroom 5 and this one sounds familiar. The latest version is 5.7.1. If you have the latest version than there are other things to try but there is no sense trying to debug an old version.

Lightroom 5.2 was the first dot release of Lightroom 5 as there was no 5.1 so it follows Goeff's premise of first dot release enhancements. The Lr Mobile support added in 5.4 and 5.5 is not useful except to Creative Cloud customers. The Apple Import in 5.7 is a plugin. I didn't know about the web support but it is probably Creative Cloud only too.

Thanks John, I do recall this working at one time on my MAC but it isn't now. I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.2 (I was on Mountain Lion) so maybe it broke it as OS X upgrades seem to be breaking a lot of things lately. I'll "fiddle" with it a bit to see if I can make it work but I can't imagine why I would want to hide some of the filters

John I was wondering why the cursor changes to a HAND on the word filter but on OS X I can't drag it left and right using a click or right click. As soon as I click it just opens and closes. All the rest of the behavior is as you describe. It appears the OP is on Windows so maybe this works on windows and not on MAC. Are you on windows also?

Can you see the Color Labels in the upper filter bar as Shooitstbond007 shows in the screen clip? Not sure if the two are connected though I can get portions of the lower filter bar to hide but they ALL show back up when hitting the FILTER label. You can alway try deleting the Preferences file trick. I am amazed at what this one file will affect in lightroom and how it can get messed up and then mess up lightroom. Not sure which color labels you are talking about so here are two clips. Check if they are turned on with the filmstrip dropdown at the right end. If thats not what you want than click the word "Filter" and the filter bar will expand and contract.

Probably because they want you to buy the rental version. I can't see any other logical conclusion. I don't question Adobe marketing. A quick google search of "buy lightroom 5" brings up all kind of vendors so buyers, even new users, shouldn't have a hard time finding it. Its even available off the shelf at the local Best Buy and Office Depot so it is not that hard to find.

Its just as easy to buy it from Amazon, B&H or a local vendor if you need it right away. I don't understand why people think they have to buy the standalone from Adobe.
