The new PS is crashing on me too. And it won't open again unless I restart my computer. I had to pull up my trusty old Elements 15 to work on a few things. The PS crash doesn't affect my PC though.

Yes, it was an education discount. But I'm still in college. I guess I'll find out in a week when I'm charged.

I'm coming off my one year plan, and it now goes to month to month. But the amount shown for my next payment due on the website says one price, but an email I just got says it's $10 more a month. Which one am I to believe?

Well here we are, 3 years since the OP posted this. And still no Lumetri in PS. Since I move around between PP and AE a lot, I get so used to the Lumetri being there. Then I'll spend some time in PS and start to look for it and then realize, dang, wrong app. I'm no expert, but you'd think something originally made for video files would be quite easy to adapt for still images.

I use the Object Selection Tool, and in most cases, it does a good job of selecting what I want it to. But sometimes the color that shows up (is it pink? I'm colorblind) will cover exactly what I'm wanting, but then the cut line isn't matching that color mask. Is there a way I can have it just select what the color is suggesting? In the photo, it's a white tuxedo I'm wanting to select, and the color mask has nailed it perfectly, but not the line that is going to be the actual cut. Thanks for your input.

Thanks for your reply, Nick. I appreciate the insight. I realize that animation is an acquired skill and it doesn't come quickly. I just thought I'd get an idea from others as to which program to start with. The only other similar thing I've done is an early version the show's opening that I did about a year ago (video link added), but that was shorter and simpler. For the 3 signs that come out of the boxes, I just used 3-4 png files of different proportions for the 'animation'. It's crude but worked for the most part. Of course the animation referenced in this thread is much more involved. As you said, it's not something that can be learned quickly. But in a way, doing these things as a hobby for the things we like (I'm a fan of the show) is a good way to learn the software. https://youtu.be/9JJESiagvxY Thanks again, Dirk

I'd like to replicate this old animation opening from a quiz show back in the 1960's. I want to give it a clean HD upgrade. I don't really have any animation experience. With the particular style shown in the video, which program (Adobe Animate, Illustrator, Photoshop) would best the most efficient way to give it a try? I can do the panels moving and flipping in AE after the animation. Thanks https://youtu.be/QwfLrYYdf3U

I haven't done extensive compositing in AE with 2022.4 and 2022.5, but they both crash on exit. I guess if it's going to crash, that's the best time to do it.

This worked for me. Because I was trying to save work that I had done, I couldn't save because of the font error. So I did the steps without closing Photoshop and it worked. One note: When right-clicking on the Adobe file, you click on Properties, not Preferences. At least in my case.

I was having the same issues. My original files are 4K60p H.265 from a Mavic 2 Air. Playback was choppy and tended to freeze sometimes. Then I bought two M.2 SSD's. One to store source files and one for renders. On the timeline at 1/2 resolution, the native files will play fine with no dropped frames. If I add any effects, that will show some slight lagging. It doesn't mean it's perfect. Proxies or transcoding is probably more preferable. This issue reminds me of when HD AVC files were first being used in solid state cameras a decade ago. Those generally wouldn't play nice on our NLE's at the time. I had to transcode AVC into a Cineform version, which meant huge file sizes. But as NLE's improved and processors got better, it eventually became easy to edit native AVC on the timeline without transcoding. I suspect that's how it will be with H.265.

As seen in the Vegas editor, the practice of moving the end of one video clip on top of another to create a instant transition is refreshingly efficient. I've always been surprised others didn't follow suit.

STILL crashes like the most recent versions. It's a shame. Media Encoder used to be solid and worry free. Now it just disgusts me.

Thanks Arshla, That helped. I then had to re-license Elements as it was showing as a trial. But now it's fine. Thanks again.

I bought Photoshop Elements 15 about a month ago, and I've used it off and on with no problems. I also had a yearly Photoshop CC subscription that expired a few days ago. But now when I click on Elements to open, I get a notice that I need to go to the Subscription Manager to renew the Photoshop CC product. But I wasn't even clicking on Photoshop CC. And I own Elements, so any subscription, active or not, shouldn't even matter. Also, I see that Adobe has been down a lot today. I don't know if that's related.
