Hi all, I have tried looking for similar topics but alas have found none that specifically deal with this issue. I run 4 satellite businesses and have created editable .pdf "forms" for each site, e.g; "Site 1" - food order sheet", "Site 1" - consumables order sheet. "Site 1" - in-house order sheet, etc ... plus as above at other sites with "Site 2", "Site 3" and "Site 4" being simply a name change to the files. Submitting the food order sheet automatically emails the completed PDF to our supplier and c.c's me Submitting the consumables order sheet automatically emails the completed PDF to another supplier and c.c's me Submitting the food in-house sheet automatically emails the completed PDF to me The name of the file has the site name and account number, allowing the supplier to correctly deliver the products to the correct site. This works well and saves me receiving lots of disperate order messages through texts, emails, phone calls and crumpled pieces of paper handed at site visits. An issue arises when a supplier 'pulls' a lot of items from their stock. Currently, I manually update the files and travel to each site, 'Airdropping' (or otherwise getting the files) to the site iPad and manually deleting the older incorrect file from the local file. Also, I sometimes wish to add a 'seasonal' element to the files and occasionally add a page of Halloween, Easter or Christmas products. Is there an easier way to update these remotely? In my mind I would like to see the contents of each iPad (I only need to update Acrobat PDFs) and manage them from one central location. Thanks for any assistance

Hi @Rishabh_Tiwari , Thanks for taking the time to deal with this - it is very much appreciated. And it worked. Saving it as a IDML file allowed me to open it without crashes... I was then able to successfully restore the links and save back as an INDD file. My fault... I had set the links initially and then moved the images from my downloaded folder into a Dropbox folder. Note to self... "Do the housekeeping first, then set the links!" Thanks again Simon

Hi everyone (anyone!), InDesign Verion: #18.3 I have been working on a large InDesign 'ordering' file which is subsequently exported as a PDF and then used, through PDF form creation to be a 'submitted email file'. As this has many products and changes 'reasonably feqauently', I have many updates/additioas/removals from this InDesign file. There are a many small thubnail images to make the form more interesting and intuitive but recently had an issue where 26 links were not found. I still have the images, but on trying to 're-link' anything the program crashes. If I click Window>Links, InDesign immediately closes. If I choose not to try to re-link the images, then I can update and change the file as usual so all is not lost... and any images that are by way of error 'low-res' is fine as I save the PDF as a 'reduced size file' anyway, so having a slightly pixellated image is fine... but it is annoying, and I would like to rectify this before I possibly get an instance of the filel not opening at all (it took a long time to create!). I am even fine to create new links or introduce new images in case there is an issue with the source image file... but the program will not allow it. I do get an error message when I start the program stating thet 'the file may be damaged - do I want to open it anyway?' - and clicking OK, opens the file fine. Thanks - any help would be appreciated.

Thank you @try67... I'm OK at creating forms, replacing pages etc on Acrobat (which I had to do a few times to get the final 'design') and in using InDesign (for creating the PDF page/exports to begin with)... but custom scripts are (at present) beyond me... Do you have any pointers with regards a starting point for this? (I also understand that may be a little like asking how I may start being fluent in German... so I apologise in advance for any degree if ignorance).

Hi all, I have created a fillable form (effectively a 13 page ordering catalogue for staff) with 'reset' and 'submit' buttons, and with drop-down fields where staff can change the default number (zero) to a number depending on quantity required. This form works well, but with sometimes up to 30 items per page, and with staff only maybe selecting one item as 'quanity required' (i.e. 29 items may be still at QTY=0, and one item may be at QTY=1), this may cause issues at the 'supplier-end' when it comes to processing an order. That is to say that they may end up printing 13 pages, or scanning through 13 pages on-screen, and manually processing an order which is laborious and an environmentally poor process (not to mention the possible errors made when trying to process these orders). Is it possible to have an output as a '.xlsx' or '.csv' where line items throughout the form are ANYTHING OTHER THAN zero (default)? In other words, it is possible that only 6 items are ordered throughout the available 13 pages, and rather than having 13 pages submitted by email as a PDF file that may be around 2MB... could one table be the output where only those 6 items are listed using the standard table headers that I have kept as a constant; Column 1 = QTY Column 2 = DESCRIPTION Column 3 = CODE Column 4 = ITEM So that what the staff see's on page 2 of our 14 page form (for example) is as below; We can see that only two items have had their default QTY fields changed from 0 (default) to a number other than 0. The output would be ideally seen when the form is submitted for this page as; Which is far easier to read and print if necessary... I understand I may be asking a lot of this program to do this? Thanks for any help Simon

I have tried to restore a link in an InDesign document, but the asset which I bought in 2017 is no longer available? #8256812. How is it possible to restore or at least increase my available assets by 1 if this is not possible? Many thanks

Two quick questions if I may... please see a screenshot below of my Acrobat form... Question 1 I have created a basic Java Script calculation to sum the value of the quantities under the "food section" (i.e. (Refreshments*2)+(Food_1*6.5)+(Food_2*10)+(Food_3*3)). But would like to add £30 to the total field ("TOTAL") if the half day radio button ("Half_Day") is selected, or £50 of the full day button is selected (Full_Day") Question 2 Presumably the 25% deposit field would be calculated by stating that it equals TOTAL*0.25? Thanks in advance Simon

Semi-solved this (by way of a workaround)... Saved the document (without the submit field) to Dropbox via the iMac I use, opened the file using my Apple laptop (both vesrions on both computers are up-to-date via CC). Added the submit button on the laptop (in exactly the same way that I had done on the desktop), and saved as a different version to Dropbox. Opened the updated document from Dropbox on the desktop... worked fine. I have no idea how or why.

Hi everyone, and thanks in advance to anyone who can help... I have created a form (a simple single-page table, designed in Indesign and exported as a PDF). I have created a form using this PDF using Acrobat Pro DC... it has the following fields; At the top is a drop-down list in the 'site' box with a list of sites. To the right of this is a date field that brings up a drop-down calendar. Under this are the following columns; Name - a free text box Hours Worked - a numerical entry box to 2 decimal places Annual Leave hrs Worked - another numerical entry box to 2 decimal places Total Hours to be Paid- a numerical entry box to 2 decimal places (which has an automatic value entrty based on a sum of the previous 2 columns) Managers Signature - a free text box At the top right are two 'action buttons'; The 'RESET' button resets all fields to the blank page you see above (with the exception of the site and employee name fields (to save the relevant sites having to re-imput staff names)). The 'SUBMIT' button submit's a form as a full PDF using a mailto: function to an email address. Everything works except the SUBMIT button. When clicking it the following message appears; 'Expected a dict object' I have looked through the forums (and other forums) and have not found a solution that works. I have tried renaming the file, deleting the submit button, renaming the file and re-introducing the button, saving as an optimised file etc... I have a submit button on another form that I have created and the check-boxes and mailto: addresses are identical. No third-party apps were used, only Adobe Indesign and Adobe Actrobat Pro DC. Is anyone aware of a possible solution to this please?

I had this error... Acrobat was 'thinking' that I had poor-to-no connection, but numerous speed tests were showing download speeds of 65Mbps+. In fact I was also using Adobe CC to update other apps, so network connections was fine. For context I am running Acrobat Pro DC from Creative Cloud (as part of the full-suite subscription). This is running on my iMac (MacOS Catalina v10.15.7) I contacted Adobe Acrobat support by chat and they recommended immediately that I remove the Acrobat apps using the following link: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/AcroCleanerMac.dmg And once completed, reinstall Acrobat using: https://trials.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/APRO/Acrobat_HelpX/osx10/Acrobat_DC_Web_WWMUI.dmg This took about 10-15 minutes and worked perfectly. Acrobat support were swift and spot-on... thanks

I am trying to create a form that allows the user (iPad user using Adobe PDF Viewer) to fill in information about a reqpair request... I have successfully completed most of the form (reset field, email field, date field etc) but would like (if possible) to have a field which allows the user to insert an image from their own library (or better still, activates the iPad camera to allow the user to insert an image). Is this possible? Many Thanks

Hi all - I hope you can help... I have created a file using Adobe InDesign (order sheet) and saved it as a PDF. I have then used Acrobat Pro DC to create a form from that file (with dropdown quanitites, reset feature and email button). I have then Airdropped the file to an iPad. The file is 95% correct but does have some text missing (unfortunately crucial text such as delivery address, account number and some text for the client. InDesign version is via Creative Cloud (subscription) so is current Acrobat Pro DC version is via Creative Cloud (subscription) so is current iPad Reader is V 21.04.00 Some screenshots are below; This is the original file Thsi si how the file looks on the iPad I have also tried saving the document to Document Cloud, sharing a link and opening it - same thing I hope you can help

Hi... I have created a sequential field using help sourced from this forum a few years ago... (called 'SEQ1') using the following code; var num = this.getField("SEQ1"); num.value = Number(num.value)+1; num.defaultValue = num.value; I am using 'submit a form' to mail the PDF complete to 3 email addresses (I can get that to work). I have 3 issues however (that are interlinked); 1) I would like for this sequential number to be prefixed by the letter 'L' and 4 zeros (i.e. L00001, L00002 etc) 2) I would like the content of this field to be added to the subject line of the submitted email (i.e. currently the subject of the line is 'Emailing {filename.pdf}' and I would like it to read 'Emailing L00001 {filename.pdf}) 3) This is being used as an ordering sheet for use on an iPad... as such I have used a 'reset form' command (and excluded the 'SEQ1' field so that this isn't inadvertently set back) to clear the contents of the fields throughout the form, but as it is an iPad form, the user completes the following steps; a) opens the form b) reserts the form (to avoid ordering of items previously listed) - this works c) selects quantities for items (by means of drop down quantities) - this works d) submits the form by email by clicking a button-field - this works (but ideally would cater for 1&2 above) e) IMPORTANT - exits the form by clicking the arrow at the top left of the screen on the ipad [as far as I can tell, this 'minimises' the form as opposed to 'saves' it... so the sequential numbering doesn't work]. Sorry there is a lot here, but as you can see they are all intertwined Many thanks if you can help - I'm not a coder 😕 my guess is that the 'submit form' needs to be a JavaScript code but at that point the birds start chirping! Simon
