Can substance painter baked the Roughness & Metallic maps of a high poly mesh onto the new UV’s of a lower re-topologized object? And if so, how? I can only see functionality to bake the Normal maps. I’m looking to see if Substance Painter can do the kind of texture baking of remeshed objects shown in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJwnxSrsN7k&t=1s

When will Sampler be able to import custom meshes? Are the Devs even considering this essential feature? I am trying to create PBR textures from Photogrammetry scans in which the software only produces a diffuse image. I’d love to be able to use Sampler’s 3D scan feature but the meshes it generates are inferior to other Software and currently have too many issues for me. While Sampler can generate the PBR textures (Roughness, Normal, Metallic) it is very difficult to gauge how things look without being able to view them on the actual scanned object. Can anyone recommend a workflow for this? Does Painter or Designer have the same ability to generate PBR textures from a single image?

For what its worth, I noticed this too. But haven't looked too closely into it as I wasn't' using Bridge much in my current work flow till recently. I just figured it must be a preference setting and would adjust it "later."

For now just uninstall any Adobe beta apps. Then Photoshop and Illustrator should start opening again. It worked for me and many others on this thread.

Why are Beta releases crippling start-up of Stable versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign? Even more concerning: Beta versions installed on one’s system are affecting start-up of completely separate applications. I had Beta After Effects & Media Encoder installed. Apparently, these were preventing Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign from opening. All versions of After Effects, Media Encoder, and Premier Pro themselves, however, were able to open without issue on my system. The current Adobe screw up only seemed to affect Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, which freeze at the splash screen and also cause RAM usage to climb through the roof resulting in screen redraw issues and an unstable computer. This post is testament to the number of Creative Cloud subscribers suffering from this problem. It also reveals that the temporary fix is to remove ALL Beta applications one might be using. Sure enough, as soon as I uninstalled the Beta versions of After Effects and Media Encoder, my Stable versions of Photoshop and Illustrator opened normally (I have not tried InDesign yet because I have not re-installed that program yet). I am wondering about a few things here, which hopefully those more informed and technical than myself can give feedback on. Perhaps the discussion can contribute to Adobe implementing some positive changes to prevent such troublesome updates from occurring, or at the very least keep users better informed when such issues happen. First, there is what I feel is Adobe’s unsatisfactory response in not properly addressing this problem. Instead of posting or sending out some kind of notification to users about the issue, they let their subscribers find out the hard way that some applications will fail to open under a specific condition. This causes users to waste inordinate amounts of time trying to figure out what is wrong and, after performing the usual trouble shooting, wasting even more time with tech support! Yesterday, after an hour on chat with lackluster support, I was told the issue was on their side and to wait 4 hours. It has been almost 24 hours without any kind of response or follow-up on status of this critical issue. Certainly, they must know by now that the immediate workaround is to remove all Beta Apps. And yet, no such official communication has been issued that can help those whose work has now come to a standstill. The second, more important issue I see from this fiasco, is the wisdom of having an ecosystem so tightly integrated that program errors to one aspect of it affect such a broad range of applications. Exactly what is adobe doing in their code that ties these programs together so that program errors critically affect them all at once? Is it some kernel that controls the start-up of all applications? Is there some kind of overreaching data sweeping going on during start-up that they recently implemented? Why would a Beta version of After Effects prevent start-up of a stable version of Photoshop?

I too am being driven crazy by the constant emails (also very surprised people posting to that thread don't seem to actually READ it since the fix of uninstalling beta apps is very easy). How does one unfollow the entire thread? I do not see an unfollow button. Everything says "Follow." I found my initial post to that thread but the one I replied to is not showing an unfollow option. So how can I remove myself from it?

Same issue since late last night. Did all the usual and suggested troubleshooting but nothing worked. Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign freezing at splash screen. On chat tech support for an hour the person finally told me it was an issue on their side. This is what I was told: "This is an on going issue in the application from our side, Please stay assured that the dedicated team is working towards resolving the issue as soon as possible. we request you to please wait for 4 hours but our team is trying to get it resolved as soon as possible." In my particular case this has happened to me several times before with Photoshop when trying to open a file from Bridge. But I was always able to open Photoshop by clicking directly on executable or from Start menu. The only beta app I have installed is for After Effects. I will uninstall that now and report back if this helped. YES! Uninstalling my beta of After Effects and Media Encoder worked.

After loading and applying a sbsar using the Adobe Substance Blender Add-on, objects exported to gLTF or USD lose their material. No textures are exported or embedded into the files. gLTF export works fine in current Blender 4.2, though USD export still seems to lose the material.

I tried opening directly from Photoshop but the issue continues. It doesn’t seem to be Bridge related. it is ACR itself. Only by downgrading to ACR 14.5 am I able to use masking normally without my adjustments disappearing.

I am experiencing this issue as well. Updated ACR a few days ago now this! I am opening Camera Raw through Bridge to edit RAW files as is typical in my work flow. I just downgraded Bridge but seems like the issue is in ACR. Going to try downgrading ACR next but options from the below page are limited. Seems you can only downgrade from ACR 16.3 to 14.5. What happened to version 15? https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-in-installer.html So I just downgraded ACR and now I can save my brush masks adjustments. Seems like the issue in ACR 16.3 may be related to the new AI mask feature. When I opened my file in ACR 14.5 it said all AI masks had to be updated and after clicking OK I had access to my first mask. I don't recall having used AI mask though in the first place.

Material Extract isn't ready to test yet. How do you imagine using something like this in your work? I’m not sure that’s why I was interested to start experimenting with it. The first thing that comes to mind is being able to animate some kind of material switcher, which you often seen in various product configurators. If material can be extracted then why not replaced? But maybe other more creative uses. If we can extract materials then I assume there is some mechanism for targeting and altering them? So beyond simple transforms to animate scale, rotation, and position, maybe this can also lead to one material morphing into another. I also wonder if being able to target and manipulate materials directly would allow more flexibility in being able to add effects directly to them (as opposed to using the Calculations effect method)? Being able to target and alter material of an object might give After Effects 3D some kind of Substance Painter type capabilities where minor (or even extreme) changes don’t necessitate having to work in a separate application and reimporting the asset. Beyond all that I imagine being able to extract textures of an object may be useful to those AE users who don’t have access to or knowledge of other 3D tools but still want to manipulate materials in a simple paint program?

Latest Beta lists two new 3D features in development: iImport of USD files and ability to extract materials. Inport of USD files did not work for me. AE Beta was unable to see the file type when I tried to import those formats. As for Material Extract - that extracted two elements from a glb file but were blank and contained no properties. How is the Material Extract function supposed to be used?

In Adobe 3D Capture Materials I do not see the option to enhance my captures for displacement with the “Convert to AI Powered Materials” button. In addition to Creative Cloud I also subscribe to Substance Tools (Painter, Sampler, Designer). Additionally, I do not have an option to send captured materials to Substance Sampler: there is no “open in” option for those materials in my online Creative Cloud library. When accessing my Capture materials from the iPhone I do see a "Send To” option but it is greyed out.

All my new 3D materials are captured at a paltry and useless 512 x 512 resolution. But I have older materials that were captured at 2048 x 2048. It seems that everything after around July/ August 2021 is at the smaller resolution. How do I capture materials at a larger more useful size like before?

It would be great if we could generate images with transparent backgrounds so that we could more easily composite them in with other elements. So no, not talking about Generative Fill to add content to blank areas of canvas. For a comparison consider the new Vector AI features in Illustrator when one specifies the Icon mode. Maybe Photoshop can have a similar mode to tell the AI model that the image to be generated is going to be used in compositing and so should be knocked out or masked. For example I prompt the engine for images of cars and specify it is a comping element. So what is returned are just masked images of cars, not cars on roads against a backdrop of city streets or landscapes.

I’ve opened an old painter project (I have a slightly optimized model I want to substitute but keep all materials from the original project). I’m am trying to locate the materials I used. One is not currently in my local assets library in Painter but does exist as licensed from my online Adobe library. The other material used was a mixture of what my layer calls “Concrete Simple” and “Plastic Glossy Pure” – neither of which I can find from the assets database. There is also an alpha maske named “fabric_circle_half_overlap” that I can not find either. When I check Resources Updater it shows me those materials live in the “Shelf”. But when I open the Assets window I don’t see Shelf as an option. It only shows me “all Libraries,” “Project,” “Starter assets,” and “Your assets.” How can I carry these assets over to my new model – which has two previously separate meshes combined and all new UV’s?

Looks like the import of 3D assets is broken again - models import with no preview (just a bounding box). I tried with glb files only. Issue occures on 24.1.0.29 and the most recent 24.1.0.30.
