The solution is listed above in this thread. Be aware that some items may have changed over the last 3 years, but you should be able to work your way through any variations. Good luck! Here are the steps: Use Terminal command to enable CUPS web interface cupsctl WebInterface=yes Go to CUPS URL for local installed printers and select Printers tab http://localhost:631/ Username & Password are those for the computer Choose Ricoh printer RICOH_IM_C4500__PS_ Select Modify Printer - Then Continue Then click on Continue again Select RICOH IM C4500 PS (en,...) Click on Modify Printer Set Default Options Change PostScript to Adobe PostScript Click on Set Default Options

Glad I was able to create a searchable solution for a bug which, although simple, is 100% immobilizing to our PostScript printing. We have three large corporations to point the finger at for leaving us this issue. They should be asshamed at their lack of response.

Solving my own problem. Did a little reworking of the CUPS driver in order to activate Adobe PostScript and set it to the default. The bug is actually in the way Apple installs the CUPS driver ro the Ricoh.

Update - An office MacBook Pro with macOS 11.6 has both old (1.2) and new (3.0) versions of the Ricoh driver. Illustrator can see the PPD with 1.2 and can not see the PPD with 3.0. I think this isolates the issue to the latest Ricoh driver.

An issue selecting a printer PPD in Illustrator is preventing PostScript printing. The printer is a Ricoh IM C4500 with PostScript Level 3 RIP built-in. macOS Monterey with Ricoh drivers install and print correctly except from within Illustrator (26.0.1). PPD is not selectable and Print as Bitmap is selected and deselecting does not change the setting. Choosing Adobe PostScript file activates the PPD Illustrator is not seeing the Ricoh as a PostScript printer and I haven't figured out a workaround. I know this is most likely a Ricoh/Monterey issue but I appreciate any suggestions.

Interesting. I wonder why the different computers in our office are all highlighting the incorrect text? I suppose that once it works for someone, that's a positive. Thanks for the reply. I'll continue to test on different computers before sending t it out to hundreds of people.

I'm using Acrobat DC 2019.008.20071 on macOS X 10.14 (although this is happening in earlier Mac OS versions as well as Windows 10) I have a PDF file filled with names in a graphic shape. Searching for a name is selecting and highlighting the wrong text. This happens in both Mac and Windows desktop versions. Search works correctly with the same file in Apple Preview as well as Acrobat on iOS (iPhone & iPad). The PDF source is from 6 Illustrator files, each of which performs a correct search until they are joined into a single large PDF. Any Ideas? You can download my test file from this link: SFJAZZ Search Test.pdf - Box

Hi John, thanks for the reply. Let me clarify what is happening and why it appears to be isolated to Adobe applications. If you're asking what I mean by all MacOS applications. I tried Microsoft Word, Excel, Apple Pages, Numbers, Text Edit, Photos, Google Chrome, Firefox, TextWrangler. The printer has been set to auto cut the paper by default, and the printer does auto-cut the paper when printing from the applications listed above. When printing from Adobe Illustrator, InDesign or Acrobat the printer does not auto-cut, even though the preference in the Adobe PostScript 3 Hardware Module has been set to auto-cut as the default setting. The printer driver does have a setting for choosing auto-cut, but it is either not being honored by the Adobe applications or Adobe's print system is not initializing the setting. My understanding is that the PostScript driver's PPD file contains each printers settings and characteristics. I have been focusing on the PPD with Epson support, but Adobe has their own print dialog settings which can formulate and send commands directly to the Adobe RIP inside the printer. I wish Adobe had a developer bug reporting website like Apple's so I could have this issue acknowledged.

I'm using Illustrator CC with MacOS 10.13.1 and printing to an Epson SureColor P10000 with an Adobe PostScript 3 Hardware Module, and PS3 PostScript v10.06 driver. All MacOS applications auto cut the roll paper except Adobe's. Printing from Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat will not auto-cut the roll paper by default. The printer is set to auto-cut. The printer driver is set to normal-cut. Epson is saying it's an Adobe issue since it only happens with Adobe Apps. What's the best way get a solution from Adobe?

Same thing happened on my end after the macOS Sierra 10.12.4 (16E195) update. Photoshop now reports "Unable to detect information" under Graphic Processor Settings. This is on a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) with the built-in Radeon Pro 460 (4096 MB) Disabling "Use Graphic Processor" is a temporary fix until Adobe figures out how to have Photoshop 2017.0.1 identify the hardware. Illustrator, AfterEffects and InDesign can identify and use the GPU.
