I just had this problem, I can see a scroll bar if I use my mouse wheel, as soon as I stop scrolling, the scroll bar disappears. If I time it just right, I can click on the scroll bar and use it after I stop using the wheel. It should really not be like this.

I did not expect this problem to happen on a Mac. Thank you for posting! I thought this was only an issue with Windows.

Taking a poll, are you storing your working files on your local computer or are you using any type of cloud service like Dropbox?

Thank you for the idea, this fix seems to be focused on the temp file that Illustrator creates when saving a file. This does not address the subject of the problem as I understand it. I know the temp files you speak of, they appear and sometimes do not auto delete but are for the most part, innocolous. The thousands of folders and matching "#*.tmp$$" files that are being created in a folder on my computer are somewhat more annoying and seem almost malicious in their number and distribution. When I have to delete them, the entire admin team in my dropbox account gets a notification of a mass deletion event. Once again thank you for taking the time but I do not beleve that this is a fix for the problem I was trying to help report.

We just noticed this problem happening. I deleted folders 1.png through 9.png and the corresponding tmp$$ files. This is not an acceptable bahavior for a program. We are using updated Creative Cloud versions of the software on a Windows 10 computer.

I could get it to recognize the card if I reset the preferences. The problem is, as soon as I restart the program, it no longer recognizes it. Photoshop now runs slower, pausing during clone stamps and only noticing that I have released my mouse button a few nano seconds after I have released it. It could be my slower processor (4th gen i7 4Ghz) is the same as I keep updating photoshop but I swear Photoshop ran better with my older 3 year old video card than it does now.

Unfortunately that is not an option as the Detected Graphics Processor is blank (in the Graphics Processor Settings). The card is not being recognized. The Adcanced Settings button is grayed out. If I reset my preferences in Photoshop (pressing ahd holding Alt+Control+Shift) I can see the Video Card listed just like it shows up in Illustrator. The issue I have is that if I enable the use of the Graphics Processor, this is when I get hanging and crashing. After it crashes or the next time I start the program if it has been closed, the space for the name of the graphics processor is blank again and the operation of the program retuns to normal. Slower that it proabably could be with a functioning graphics processor, but stable. I have found that if I just leave it alone and accept that it will not be using my graphics processor, I can get my work done. My problem is, why did I spend all this money on a graphics processor if it is not going to help me in the least in Photoshop. It's hard to justify a business purchase if the purchase does not contribute to my business.

I was thinking that it was a compatibility problem with my video card driver not supporting OpenCL, or at least not supporting it in a way that Photoshop can understand.

I do have two different monitors but they are plugged into the same video card. I have not heard of a driver for a monitor before, I'm pretty sure that it's the driver for the one video card that I have that is the issue, but I can easily unplug the second monitor and give that a go. Not too hopeful about that working but I don't know everything so what the heck, I'll give it a go.

Nope, didn't work. Now upgraded to the lastest version, 20.8.1, released 7/29/2020. I restarted the computer to be sure the update was in use. Same error in Photoshop, "Photoshop detected an error in your display driver. Update or reinstall the driver and check Use Graphics Processor to retry. It is not even displaying the name of my graphics card in the Performance settings, that's pretty basic information that shouldn't be too difficult for the program to find. Just to be sure, I made sure that Creative Cloud had updated Photoshop as well and it did, current version of Photoshop is 21.2.1 at the time of this post. I also checked Illustrator, Illustrator is showing the name of the graphics card in it's preferences as well as having the text "Compatible GPU Available" on the Performance page of the Preferences.

I have installed the latest recommended update 20.4.2 which was released on 5/15/2020. The August update is optional but I'll give it a try and get back to you.

Having the same problem with my Sapphire Radeon PULSE RX 5700 XT. Photoshop is actually slower because it tries to recognize the card, then sometimes does and sometimes does not. Then it hangs or crashes when it does recognize it but can't offer it up as an option to turn on graphic card acceleration. I tried resetting my prefs and making sure that the acceleration was not selected so that Photoshop doesn't try to look. Unfortunatly, Photoshop still looks, finds it sometimes and not others, then hangs or crashes. It's killin' me, I'm thinking about returning the card. I have 9 days left before I can return it. Let's hope we hear something from Adobe or AMD. I have submitted a trouble ticket with them about a week ago.
