There were several issues with variable fonts in InDesign 19 and it seems that most of them have been fixed. And nobody seems to care! - Adobe is not responding as you can see. - Monotype also gave me a deplorable reply like "Unfortunately, we are not aware if the issue still persists or not." and "we won't be able to assist you with this". The problem with variable fonts had been reported here and is supposedly fixed in versions 19.1.x. But this is not what I see. I have tested both 19.1.043 (now current ID 19 release) and the pre-release 19.2.0.43 and I still see the same problem with Futura Now Variable font: The sliders in InDesign still DO NOT work properly and the font is unusable! So I am still using v. 18 because I have used this font in several designs. Needless to say it would be very useful to have some clarifications from Adobe. What is going on here? Well, that is an intermediate solution if you have to use the latest version but if you have older files with fine tuned variable fonts it is safer to use 2023. For my part I have not used nor do I crave any of the new features so I don't see any difference. ... View more

I have tried lots of things but still have some freezes. It hasn't happened to me in Photoshop yet but in Bridge I can quite predictably cause a freeze by opening a large folder with a few hundredths of camera raw files. CPU usage gets high and stays high and I go on scrolling and clicking at different images. The whole pc will freeze without any error messages or dump. I can also predictably reproduce the freeze by running prime95 for a few minutes. So my issue is definitely connected with high cpu usage. One thing that I think has helped was to deactivate the ESET antivirus Host Intrusion Prevention System (I think I have less crashes without this running). This system tries to intercept all processes running in the computer to scan for malicious ones. Realtime filesystem protection doesn't seem to affect the issue. Other things I have tried (to no avail): - different PCIe cable and connector at the PSU - undervolting, underpowering, overpowering, underclocking the GPU - fiddling with the CPU clock and voltage  - and the last three versions of studio drivers (no difference between them)  - I have run some memory checks too I don't know wat to think. Maybe a PSU issue? A driver issue? The only thing I have not yet tried is to retest my old Quadro K2200. But this pc has been working for more than three years with the same hardware configuration (with the K2200) and no such issues. Only after placing the RTX4070 I started seeing these freezes. ... I do have a Corsair TX850M power supply which I believe should be more than enough. And I connected a PCCI-e 6+2 cable which only serves the graphics card. That said I still have the impression it is a power issue - meaning that sometimes for some reasons the system is starved for power. ... View more

I got myself an RTX4070 last week and I am seeing such issues. I have not done any serious p[hotoshop use yet but I have occasional total freezes when the graphics card gets stressed. Just a few mins ago it was while just scrolling in Bridge. It has happened in PS and in other applicatios which use 3D engines. My system is on Windows 10, with an Intel i7 9700K, 32GB Ram on an ASROCK Z390 extree4 motherboard. Nvidia Studio Driver. 535.98 Before this crad I have been working for years with a Quadro K2200 and never saw such a problem! I read somewhere about the issue being corrected with a change on the motherbnoard settings on how the voltages are handled (setting thw loadline calibration to a more generous setting). It maybe that the graphics processor cannot get all the power it wants and that produces such a total freeze of the system. I encountered the same issue with numeric pad key number 3. InDesign 18.1 and the problem is file specific. it happens only in one file. I tried to save as idml and reopen but the issue remained. Pasting objects in a new file doesn't bring the problem to the new file. Moving (copying) one page to the new file does bring the issue along to the new file. I have had the same problem with Illustrator 26 / windows 10 tying to run a script to batch convert some files to CMYK and do some clean up operations. My script is running FINE via ESTK but is NOT executing the menu command when run from inside Illustrator via the menu File > Scripts > Other script. I'm sorry to hear that but since for some time it worked, it most probably means there is something going on with the grapcics card and its driver. Maybe try fiddling with these settings a bit more... Mine still works flawlessly. I realize now that everything was being delayed, even save operations, dialogs opening... Well I think my Phoytoshop 21.2.3 is now working as it should! What i did: I fiddled with the 3D Settings in NVidia Control Panel. I selected Photoshop 2020 and I changed some settings that were in the default OFF mode to ON (antilalising FXAA, antialiasing transparency, overlay and low latency to Ultra). Then all of a sudden Photoshop started working without the bloody lags!   What is weird though is that I reverted those settings back to what they were and Photoshop still works fine. I restarted the system and Photoshop still runs smoothly. Only think I can think of is that something was badly configured and got reset. Still wondering... As I said earlier my PC is running Windows 10 Pro 2004 and the basic specs are Interl i7-9700K CPU with 32GB Kingston RAM and a Quadro K2200 graphics card with NVidia driver 452.06. I have a high end Windows 10 PC (i7-9700K CPU with 32GB Kingston RAM and a Quadro K2200 graphics card) and I have similar issues that make Photoshop 21 rather unusable. I don't have crashes but the application freezes for a few seconds every now and then. Updating to the latest version hasn't helped much (maybe there was some small improvement at some point in August). Photoshop 20 works just fine (as everything else on this PC). ... View more
