It's nearly impossible to work sensibly and efficiently because almost EVERY file is opened as read-only. Why do WE always have to use workarounds to compensate for the shortcomings of the software we pay a lot of money for? After all, WE are the customers, for whom a minimum level of service could be provided. But large companies apparently don't care about customers once they've paid for the product... It's sad...

Only edit keyword.txt file in Text edit. Never use Word, Indesign or even change format of the .txt file to an .rtf file. you are simply axing for trouble. ... just sayin.

I've never stumbled across this before, but I reproduced it here (under Windows using Ctrl+Alt+[anynumber]).
Generally, in Adobe apps, the Opt/Alt key invokes a Copy command, i.e., Opt-Drag to make a copy. I've verified the same unwanted copy occurs with the other Rotate commands that bypass a dialog, with a Ctrl+Alt/Opt combination assigned.
I haven't tested every possibility, but it's possible assigning a Ctrl+Alt/Opt combination to any Transform command will make a copy.

The solution in forum thread you linked to was an OSX update from 2011. That's not helpful.

Laubender I went to gather the files to post for testing and the issue no longer occurred and then I remembered I updated all my Adobe apps this morning as their was a notification to do so...I was up-to-date before todays release. Anyway, the problem did not occur in the problematic files. I'll be working in some files that are CS5 next week and converting them to CC19 and will watch to see if the scaling error occurs again. We are a map company so scale is extremely important. I'll update this post next week.

So far the following method seems to be working. I won't know for sure until we start converting more of our CS5 files. 1. open the CS5 doc in CC19 2. export as idml 3. open is CS5 and relink 4. export from CS5 as idml 5. open in CC19 and save 6. relinks fine after this point when the link is modified I'm going to have to test this with our multipage files but it worked with the single page document for testing purposes.
