It's really both issues. I've written to @phaedo1732 but not heard anything back, which is fine given that it's a work of charity. the MIF file generated doesn't have the latex code as far as I can make out, but the latex strings are a good first start for things. Given that I have to get this book done I'll be saving the chapters as RTF files, opening them in word and then equation-by-equation entering the latex code in Word. Kind of a pain, but at least it's a solution given that I'm under a timeline. thanks!

@Matt-Tech Comm Tools - I'm pretty sure Arnis has retired and isn't following the forums anymore. I'm going to lock this one up now.

I faced the same issue, Save the document as FM 8.0 binary. It will resolve automatically.

Create a new workspace and give it a unique name. Then restart FM and check to see that it's still there and undamaged. If it's not there, then I suspect you've got a rights issue with your hidden AppData folder where the .cfg files are stored.

I'd also suggest picking up a copy of Matt R. Sullivan's FM book.

You steered me in the right direction. I made a variable of my RX/TX so that an end-of-line doesn't break at the slash. Placing a \ in front of the slash prevents it from breaking. Using Variable def = RX\/TX thanks!

Using FM17 and had this happen for the first time today. Disabling Track Edits allowed me to update the book without issue. I have over 150 different FM files and this is the only one it's happened with (so far). Thanks for posting a suggested resolution!

THANK YOU! It's amazing that if you enter "pagination" in any of the "help" sections, it's "not found." Getting page 1 to be on the right hand side for the book when exporting from .pages to .pdf should be logical/easier (maybe with a graphic of some sort). You rescued me!

I don't think the answer has changed. If you want information from separate files to flow continuously like that, you'll have to use text insets. Otherwise, each file will start on a new page.

Starting with FrameMaker 2019, Save as PDF uses the same engine as the Publish panel. It's a newer, faster, (better, in my opinion) engine than printing to the Adobe PDF driver and using Acrobat Distiller to process into PDF.
However, plenty of folks here like to (or need to) use the old functionality for specific workflows.
Here's a video I created with an overview of the new engine

Hi,
Generally please create a new thread for new questions.
The default Save as PDF uses PDF own engine. It ignores text frames with the PostScript option activated. Possibly also JavaScript.
You can change this in the Publish pod. Select PDF as output, click the icon next to the settings file and select Edit. FrameMaker opens the Publish settings. Activate the option Use Acrobat Distiller for PDF generation.
When you now save as PDF, FrameMaker uses the Distiller. This might work better with your demands.
Best regards
Winfried

Since that's an old version, I think it's highly unlikely that it would have been patched with a fix, but try updating first to see if your point version changes. If there's no updates available, then I suggest getting a trial copy of FM2020, update it & try a copy of your content out in it.

Hi there. I have the same problem using FM2020. With VPN it's just too slow to work with. And having the tool installed on another machine not requiring VPN access and using remote access (Amazon Workspace for instance) it is a whole different scenario, much better. This is something that should be looked into, mainly due to the current restrictions we live in. Regards

Yep! for my money, that "No Undo" is a bit of a nothingburger, about as helpful to me as the "Clearing History" warnings.
Neither seem to impact my decision making, and only serve to raise my heartbeat for a moment.
You can always submit a feature request to modify the UI at adobe.com/go/wish. With any luck, they'd just push it out with a patch release.

Since this thread turns up in generic web search engine results, it might be worth adding that the Framemaker \u notation expects precisely 4 hexadecimal digits from the codepoint space U+0000 … U+FFFF.
This includes only the Unicode BMP (Basic Multilingual Plane).
FM 8-2019 (and FM2020 as of posting date) does not yet support any SMP (codepoints F0000 … 10FFFF). There is at least one feature request open on it (and very likely in-work).
Meanwhile, typing or pasting in SMP characters is preserved, but currently rendered as "?". \u12345 doesn't work, being treated as \u1234 and "5".
This is mainly an issue for emoji, as nearly all new ones are being added to SMP, but a lot of useful icons and dingbats are up there too (such as 3 of the 4 Creative Commons symbols).
