Hi Uwe, I installed the attached script, restarted Indesign just in case - but when I run it nothing happens. I do get a warning (see screenshot) but either option does nothing. Is that the "toggle" you were refurring to? (thanks for bearing with me ;/) Vanessa

Hi, Is it possible to create every new Indesign file with the same set of layers?
(Like you can add "default" swatches to every new indesign by making these with no open files)
Basically I would like every new file to have 3 layers by default: Diecut / images / design (f.ex.) Tx

Hi Steve, this might indeed be what I need to do, since this file is used and worked on / elaborated year after year. If I do so: can I copy and paste text / picture frames into a new document, or do I need to draw new frames and fill with text / images all over again? The latter would be a lot more work ofcourse...

I kept having enourmous problems with this file, in 2024. I made another idml and went back to 2023, which is a LOT more stable IMO. But even then, major problem remained: - text elements from master pages are dissapearing on some pages - text elements from master pages are moving on some pages - crashes when making PDF - images (all on 1 layer) dissapearing when creating a PDF (on some pages) very dissapointed in Indesign lately... 😞

Indd 19.0.1 (2024) MacBook Pro Ventura 13.4.1 (Easy Catalog used in early stage only) file is 350 MB - 25 layers, 92 pages. I have a VERY extensive file with multiple textlayers: I only now notice that some layers (on SOME pages only) no longer have the correct textframes. > The texframes are reduced to min size, all at the center / edge of the page. I can see they are still there (with content) in the layer panel, but their sizes are corrupted and I cannot enlarge them or fix this. This is a disaster 😞 Is there a way to fix this? Hi Try67, If you look at the titel of the product it now says "Replacement!Dish!Brushes" > that is the problem. The rest is slug info for printing and such - not relevant for this issue 😉

Am I going MAD?? I just created 2 PDF's from my file, one HR, one LR, back to back. On the HR PDF there are exclamation marks in between my text WHICH ARE NOT IN THE FILE!! See the LR. Did it again - everything fine. How is this possible?? Very disturbing as those files go into print!! Bug?? Only thing I can think of is that I click the (new) feature "create seperate PDF's from pages" off/on.

Hi, I noticed a lot of similar issues on this topic, but no clear solution... I have one project with 4 compositions, and in between rendering them, I got this problem. If I export, nothing happens - if I add to queue, AME starts connecting to project but never succeeds. AE 22.0.0 AME 22.0 Mac Big Sur 11.5.2 allready cleared my caches. Thanks for helping! V

Someone sent me an indd file, and the page edges do not show in my preview; When I start my own file, they always do... yjis is really bugging me... how can I turn on the view? Is there no solution for this problem?? seems strange that pagination would not work!! Hi, I have made 2 indesign books, using the same indd files. Only the order / pagination needs to be different, so I want to keep the indesign files identical and only link to them, using an indesign book. But how do I get the pagination right? I can "update" 1 book and then it's correct, but when I do, the pagination of the other book gets screwed up. They are now somehow linked to each other? I inherated these indd files so I did not start from scratch... the books are made by me. The indd files are set to automatic pagination (but with "start section"??) (see screenshot) I have my book pagination set to "continue from previous" with the "automatically update" off (see screenshot) How do I get these pagination within one book not linked to the other book? Hi, Is there a way to create a fixed line under a paragraph style? I've tried with paragraph rules > rule below, but the length is always depended on the textframe or last word. I would like is to always be the same length. Is there a more automized way then drawing it? Extra: I would like the stroke to have rounded edges. thanks for helping Vanessa

Thanks for all your input, a lot of suggestions were offered here! As I want to keep my lay-out as clean as possible, I'm not too fond of a different font, and key mapping goes a bit too far for me now... I guess I'll do a simple find and replace a couple of times... and add a feature request

it's indeed a dash I meant, not the hyphenation of words... A different font would work, but I would prefer being able to use the styleguide / initial font...

It's just a design issue - my art director thinks it's nicer this way - but there are a LOT of those hyphens in the description text... it needs to stay in the font too, do... Would be a great feature - and fairly simply to add, I would think

Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to replace a hyphen by another character, using a GREP style? What I want to do is basically replace " - " by " ~ " in all instances, in a certain paragraph style. Er zitten inderdaad erg veel bugs in de nieuwe indd! Heb je nog een vorige versie? Anders kan je proberen een idml te maken van je file, en die openen in de 2017. Hi, I'm trying to find a GREP for Indesign that will put the last character of a name in superscript. I can't figure out how to look for the name but then only apply the superscript to the last character. The name is always "Vanessa+" (for ex.) and the plus needs to be in superscript. I've tried finding "plus/space" but there are also calculations in the text so that is not specific enough. Anyone any ideas that can help? Thanks Vanessa
