It worked, the book was printed, client was happy. Crude but effective.

Agreed, which is the solution I went for in the end. I've just posted a screenshot of the title with invisible characters showing. I've only used range right text a dozen times in my whole career, but once every few years it does has a reason to exist. —— Philip Jansseune | Creative Director | Walker Jansseune | Brand Communications 17 Avondale Road | Bath | United Kingdom | BA1 3EG M +44 (0)7958 641313 philip@walkerjansseune.co.uk https://linktr.ee/walkerjansseune Finalist | World Media Awards 2018 Is your company celebrating an anniversary in the next year or two? Thanks everyone for your suggestions. This wasn't a long doc so there were no TOC issues to consider and I didn't want to spend the time setting up individiual paras and invisible characters. The solution I used was a hack but was by far the quickest and simplest - just make the text range left and add spaces to the left until they aligned on the right, with a little bit of tweaking to the left hand spaces before the text. Crude but effective.

Thanks James, but far too complicated for lots of titles in a document. I want a simpler solution for adjusting right line endings in a range right heading. I'm flabbergasted that Indesign doens't have a built-in solution for this.

Thank you Peter. The left hand frame trick (where you can simply add a space and negative kern) would be the answer but sadly does not work the same on the right.

Yes, but this makes it even worse. I want to manuallly kern right aligned text but there doesn't seem to be a way to do it. —— Philip Jansseune | Creative Director | Walker Jansseune | Brand Communications

I very rarely use right aligned text (maybe ten times in a career of 40 years) but I have a use for it now in a book. How do I align right aligned headings but still have the ability to adjust them so that they align visually? The heading is over 3 lines - the first ends in a colon, the second ends in N and the third line a T and they all need spacing so that the right line ends looks visually aligned.

Thank you Bob, appreciated. Can you advise on why it got there in the first place and how that might be avoided in future? Your original reply to me came via email and I replied to the REPLY link in the email. This is obviously useful but publishes all our private data that might be in the footer of our emails. Hardly our fault, but it does create work for you having to delete it.

This is an issue for Adobe reply system to address. I will remove of course but in the email notification to my OP there is a Reply link. My email gets sent through to this message board with all my usuals email footer data. Can you action this change so that anyone else replying doesn't find themselves in this sitaution too pleas? It feels like I have contravened some rule but have done nothing wrong but simply reply to the email as instructe, especially as I am paying Adobe £50 per month. Please respond. Thank you.

A client has supplied an Indesign file that displays unusual behaviour with the arrow tools when resizing image boxes. The outline arrow usually allows me to resize an image box independently of the image but at the moment the image auto resizes to fill the box. How do I switch this off please? No combination of keys seem to change this behaviour.

Adobe Express, not Slideshow. A slideshow is what I am trying to create. Apologies.

Hi, first time using Adobe Slidehsow but I can't find a way to transition between still images. Yes I can animate, blur etc each slide but how do you control the transitions and timing BETWEEN slide and add fades / wipes etc. I also want to add text on some slides but I think I've got that covered. I set up a non standard size 1344 x 768 so I cannot use the Video option as this only gives me widescreen and square.

Works in late 2021 too. Thanks. The subscription staff are not trained in how to do this and Adobe doesn't care.

It's very common to limit the pages accompanying a competition entry so the judges won't have to scroll through too much material. Attaching won't embed the interactive PDF will it? Do you know a way to embed an interactive PDF (say in HTML or as a standalone PDF with forward and backward buttons) into another PDF?

Hi. I want to insert an interactive PDF showing a 48 page brochure within an outer PDF. It's for an awards entry and I'm only allowed to send 4 pages and its the best way I can think of showing a large brochure within a smaller space. Any advice on how to do this gratefully received. I'm using Indesign CS6 and Acrobat Pro DC.

Thanks for your reply, apprecaited. I posted this question 5 years ago so I've known for a long time that there is no standalone Adobe licences any longer. I guess the point is that I am still using CS6 and it works absolutely as well as ever but Adobe lost me because of their ludicrous subs plan. I've had the Affinity suite for 3 years now, and for the kind of work that most designers and agencies and Affinity's Photo, along with their drawing and DTP programs, are perfect replacements for Pshop, Illustrator and InDesign. So many professional agencies I know have also made the switch. It's so sad because I've used and loved Adobe products for 30+ years now but every all-conquering empire comes crashing down eventually. Just ask Quark, Dreamweaver, Freehand and Netscape users.

It's been 5 years since I last posted and this popped up on my screen. I'm still using CS6 on OS 10.12 when I need to but have moved my workflow over to the Affinity suite now that they have released the DTP software to compete with InDesign. I have no regrets and it has saved me a fortune in Adobe subscription fees. I'm sorry Adobe, you've been wonderful over the years but you lost me when you introduced the non-ownable software system. Adieu!

Thanks John for the helpful pointers. I am running a combination of Mac OS 10.8 /9/ and 11 on various Macs but the one thing they all do is still run CS6 happily and I see no reason to upgrade. I really don't like the renting software model and am currently trialling the New Affinity Designer and Photo suite as a possible future replacement to CC. It will also save me an absolute packet if I can get it to work for me and my agency setup.

I've been away from the CC subscription / one off costs debate for a while but am interested in the latest developments. There's lots of software choice outside of Adobe and information about moving to other software, but I'd like to know if someone from Adobe can clarify the position on whether CS6 users will still be forced to move into subscription when they want to upgrade.

creather, fab solution, thanks. If you have Indesign then this is the answer. Just a note for others, and for clarity, "After placing image on a page > make a PAGE duplicate > Right click on image > and select manage layers.

It seems to me that Adobe have got the autosave featured sorted out, but what concerns me is what happens when a disk goes down and you lose the original and the autosave (Recovered) file on the same disk? This one thing Quark seems to have over Indesign in that you can specify where you want your backup to be i.e.on another disk entirely. Is this possible in ID?
