We've had some changes made for session timeouts. Are people still having to constantly log-in throughout the day? Today I've managed to stay logged in without any forum activity for up to 3 hours or slightly longer. Has it improved for others? The login session should now be about 4 hours. It was supposed to be two hours previously, but for some accounts it might have been shorter.John

Why are there no explanations given when posts are deleted?I had a non offensive post that was reported and deleted with no explanation as to why. I have been told by another poster that it may have been a bug within the forum regarding the last posting times, etc. It would be nice to know if this were the case or if someone had their panties in a wad.

Damn the jive a$$ hamster is slower than the old Webx hamster. I've been logged out of the forum while waiting to get in. that is weird.

Just curious:When a post is edited, e.g. to insert an image in it, do those forum users who rely only on email get any notification of any kind to alert them to to the edit?

Mac OS 10.4.11Safari 3.2.3Corporate FirewallAt work, I've had problems with the new Forums since they started; they have been slooooow. If I'd click on a Post to read it, it would take 10 minutes to open (exactly 10 minutes, I timed it).But, if I disable JavaScript in Safari, I have no speed issues anymore. The Forums are now fast. The Posts open pretty much instantly (well in about 3 seconds – that's still 597 seconds faster than before).Here is how to disable it:Safari > Preferences > Advanced (the last Tab) > Click on "Show Develop menu in menu bar (last checkbox) > close windowThis will add a "Develop" menu in the menus at the top of the screen (between Bookmarks & Window)Now go Develop > Disable JavaScript And you're done.BUT, if you want to Start a Discussion, once you're in the "Post New Thread" window, you have to re-enable JavaScript to be able to type the message of your Post.So far, it's working for me.Develop = Developer

Hitherto, I just thought it was another strangeness of these here forums that you have to use the Tab or the mouse to get away from the heading and into writing the message.But testing in another thread in another forum, I realized that you can actually change the heading. So actually, you can write whatever you wish there.I wonder whether the nanny thing works there.And now to posting the first post.

Although I am familiar with backing up my files, but what about my software? I am on a Mac that is over 6 years old now, had several operators and many software upgrades. If it were to crash tomorrow, how would I go about re-installing the latest software. I guess I am a bit confused because we always have to enter previous version serial numbers to upgrade. I am not sure I could track all those serial numbers down back to the beginning. Where would I begin to re-install say CS4? Do I begin with  my current version and serial number? I thought that is what someone told me some time back. I do have all the current CDs necessary to reinstall with the exception of the last upgrade of Quark 8. That was a download, which I burned to a disk after upgrading (I hope that works as a backup as well).Sounds like a silly question, but I have never been in this situation or gave it much thought.Thanks

I have tried for 2 days to download adobe flash.  I've tried every suggestion I can find with no success.  All my games were working until yesterday and now they all request the upgrade.  I use Windows XP and internet explore.  Any help will be appreciated.

Which is better than having to go through 158 clicks ans 158 page changes, but also not very convenient.

Hello,I have tested this page in a few ways on a couple of platforms. FF, Safari, and even IE on windows have no problem with it. Dreamweaver Browser Compatibilty and W3 validation for XHTML and CSS both have no problem with it. However Opera makes hozontal spacing gaps between the navigation buttons that are between the top and the white area. Why? I can post any of the code if people can't see it in view source. So if Adobe really does start to come around and consider the fact that this "Jiveware" is not working out to everyone's satisfaction, has anyone discussed or researched the alternatives yet?Obviously they have had their own internal research but it doesn't mean we can't help and make suggestions based on well functioning examples of high traffic forums that we may have seen on other sites.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Internet_forum_softwareWiki has a section here (if the link works) with "subarticles" that contains ASP, PHP, and "Other" forum software comparisons.It's not like Adobe is the only company that has a long list of high volume forums out there--what do others use?  I'm sure it's not Jiveware.

Hello,no month goes by without some critical adobe updates. That makes every administrator nervous, because there is no easy way to update about 500 computers within one week.So please implement in newer versions something like an ability to setup an internal update server or a remote update install (where an administrator can deploy updates (with version recognization) from remote for a complete subnet).If there is no solution for this in the next 6 month. I will (and maybe others) decide not to use adobe products anymore.RegardsStephan

This is a continuation of observations posted in the Login/timout thread.Using FF, I open a session for each forum to visit so that I can be in one forum while loading another, and I save my sessions upon quitting and open them again when restarting. Every time I has finsihed reading/posting in a thread, I return to the forum which means that when I open FF upon restart I am taken to the forums and start from there.It seems that when I login from one of the forums, I am not taken to the forum but to the last visited thread. Today, I made the login from the Illustrator forum and was taken to the last visited thread there, A golden floor, and not only that: I was taken to the Print Preview version of the thread which I had switched to after posting in order to archive it, before returning to the forum through Bookmarks.So it seems that somehow the browser history determines where I am taken.Which are your findings?
