Video Hardware

Hi,I want to get into Motion Graphics professionally and I'm looking to invest in my first workstation but i would like to be able to play new demanding games as they come out as well. The programs i am running the most and i want to optimize most for, are After Effects CC, Illustrator CC, Photoshop CC and Cinema 4D. I'm not savvy at all when it comes to hardware though so here i am!My setup for the last few years has been the same and it's been used mostly for Gaming.OS: Windows 10 Enterprise CPU: i5-4690K @ 3.50 GHz, 4 coresGPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660Motherboard: Gigabyte Z97-HD3RAM: 12 GBSSD: Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120GBHDD: 1TB WDCPSU: CoolerMaster SilentProM 1000WWhat would you all recommend i should keep (if any) and what should i replace? A friend wants an editing system for Premiere. Can anyone recommend a builder? I haven't been in this forum in years. I believe there was a great builder named Eric that use to post in here. If not any recommendations?

Hello one and all,I know this is a variation of the age old question, but I am not sure if this can be done. (probably not I think but it's worth asking)If i purchase a single Xeon HP Z620 with 128GB RAM is it possible to simply swap the Xeon chip for a faster i7 chip with the same socket? I know i7 dont officially support ECC RAM but I have read that it can work just fine. So I've read so many different and contradictory things on this forum in the past few weeks regarding the use of non-certified graphic cards with the latest version of Premiere. From what I understood, adobe is no longer testing the latest NVIDIA GeForce cards, but with a minimum of 1GB of vram and the correct settings in Premiere, it is said that the GPU acceleration should work. Yet I have seen that it caused many problems to a lot of people, especially with the 2017 update of Premiere.I am looking to buy a PC (to work mainly with Premiere 2017) and by now I have pretty much all of the configuration figured out, except for the GPU. I don't have a large budget but I'm also not a professionnal (yet), so I was thinking of something in the GeForce 900 serie. I can't really afford a Quadro, and I don't see the point of purchasing an older and less powerful GeForce just because it is on the GPU certified list, if, indeed, a non certified card could work...I would therefore like to know the

Hi guys looking for advice on which PC to get for video editing.Currently I'm using a very old pc which has looked after me, but using Premiere Pro is turning into a massive headache with massive render times etc.So, I've been looking for a while now. I can't make my mind up, I've been pretty close to going for a Skylake i7 6700k (4core, 4ghz + possible Overclock to 4.6). Budget is around £1000.So i know i could build a pc with this processor on an asus z170 pro gaming MoBo, 16gb ddr4 ram, 750 psu, 2 tb HDD, 500gb SSD, etc..... for around that budget. GPU is not a massive priority right now, but will be something I can improve in future, and utilize Nvidias CUDA. The only thing that's holding me back is wondering whether 4 strong cores will be plenty for 1080/4k video editing, or should I be looking at 6 core builds. That brings the i7 5820K/6800k on haswell/broadwell x99 mobo setups.Basically, if you guys had a grand for an intel pc, for video editing, what would you go for?And what a

HelloSo its seems like the new M2 from Samsung 960 series is the way to go .... , but a few questions if u dont mind: - is it worth paying exta for Pro over EVO? what is the difference between them?- there is no reasons to split work around several disks now, right?  media, render, project files, scratch disk - previews, export - can all be on same M2 Disk? or its a good thing to keep something on extra Sata SSD?- PCI card to use with M2 SSD? the are some cheaper cards like Asus, and more expansive like Angelbird?regards

Hi all,I started my discussion the other day looking for a laptop to get into video editing family movies with Premiere Pro and After Effects.  I'm trying to tie all these little video clips we seem to take with our phones and DSLR into something easier to watch.  For example creating a vacation movie or Christmas movie etc.I was considering a big heavy Acer Predator laptop but was told if I was only editing the videos and not rendering, I didn't need something so massive.  I have a PC I built last year to act as my Plex Media Server (to transcode movies) as well as my photot storage and backup device.  I think it is more powerful than the laptop I was considering but I think I might need to upgrade some components.  Below is what I have now, I believe I need to upgrade my power supply, add a graphics card and possible increase RAM.  Can you please recommend components or if this machine would be better for rendering than a laptop.Motherboard: ASROCK H97M

Helloi have a problem, i have mSATA port in my Laptop, so i got my self mSATA SSD -  SAMSUNG SSD 850 EVO 120GB, but it is not recognized!! Hey folks!since the H.264 1080p rendering uses only 4-6 CPU cores to full extend I am not completely sure what to buy. The GPU is also a big question mark for me since none of the current-gen GPUs are supported on the official list by Adobe.What CPU and GPU would you recommend for H.264 1080p 60fps rendering? My raw footage is the exact same format (export H.264 1080p60 to H.264 1080p60). I want to record gameplay and export for YouTube upload. The ideal goal would be to render in half the time of actual video length (5 minutes to render 10 minute video). Hi, all.Apologies if this is the wrong forum for this, but how can I improve my system for CC? Things are slowly beginning to take off for me as a freelance illustrator, but I'm finding my computer is not coping very well. Illustrator gets slow (which I hear is nothing new), but other apps, like PS and InDesign don't seem as snappy as it could be, amongst other things. Especially when compared to a friend's Surface Pro (2 or 3 I am not sure) running the same apps (with lots of things in the background).I've built a couple of systems in the past, but never for a specific task like a CC Workstation. I am at the stage where I'd like things to just work smoothly I mainly use Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, but would like to use more (video editing, animation, etc.). I am considering purchasing a Microsoft Surface pro 4 with the i7 chip and therefore the intel 540 integrated GPU chip set I can't find any reference to this specific integrated chip set on the Adobe site. Hi, I'm a professional editor that is long overdue for a computer upgrade. I've been editing with Premier over a year on my MacBook Pro, and I plan to continue using it for the next few years while I continue to work freelance.I have around a few thousand to spend on a new editing bay, and I'm wondering what aspects of a computer would be worth spending that kind of money. For example, how would a 2009 27" iMac with 32GB RAM and a 3TB Fusion Drive compare to a 2015 27" iMac with 5K 16GB RAM and 1TB Fusion Drive? The above question is just an example. I really am hoping to find out what aspects of a computer (specifically for using Premier) will be best for me to spend that kind of money. I don't want to waste money in areas that aren't as needed. Hi Guys! Since 2014 I use to edit with my Macbook Pro 2013 2 GHz Intel Core i7 2.0GHz boost to 3.2GHz with 8gb ram (no external gpu). I'd like to change after almost 3years and I'm thinking about the new Zenbook Pro UX501VW  with 4gb nvidia gtx 960, 16gb ram and Intel Core i7-6700HQ 2.6 GHz boost to 3.6GHz.Now the question is, according to you, I'll have a significant improvement in 4k editing or it will be pretty much the same thing?Thank you in advance!All the best
