Video Hardware

Hi there! In order to decide the type (SSD or HDD) and storage capacity of new disk I need to know where Adobe programs do the rendering (if all programs perform the same way e.g. Illustrator and Premiere) Assuming we have two different disks: the rendering uses the disk where the source files are stored or the disk where the program files are installed? Let me pose the question in a different way: if source files are stored in a HDD and the program is installed on an SSD will the rendering be slower compared to an SSD storage? Thank you.

Question for you all.I am a tech at my firm and we have recently hired a video editor who will be working in Premier Pro. This individual is currently using a newer Mac book Pro with an AMD Radeon Pro 560 GPU, 32GB RAM and an i7 intel processor. When looking at the recommended GPU's here<https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/system-requirements.html> the AMD RP 560 is listed. With that being said, this user is having slow rendering times when editing video's. This individual is mostly doing work in 1080p but occasionally in 4k. I did a bit a reading and found that Premier Pro is better suited when using Windows CUDA GPU's.For all you video editors, I am wondering your opinion here. Do you prefer to use Mac or PC? What Hardware configuration do you recommend?

My current old PC (Intel i7 (first generation i-7 950 quadcore) 3,06 GHZ, Asus Sabertooth X58 mainboard, Geforce GTX 570 graphic card, 6 GB RAM) has some problems and I'm thinking about replacing it but I'm on a budget.I'm currently thinking about buying a MacBook Pro 13,3" (2,3 GHz Dual‑Core Intel Core i5, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD (+ external SSD), Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640).I travel from time to time in long distance trains and would love to use this time for editing. At home I would use the MacBook with a big external screen.I'm doing small projects on a non-professional base (3 to 20 minute films) with DSLR/DSLM material (Panasonic G85, DJI Mavic Pro). I do some warp stabilizer and Lumetri. My workflow includes the creation of proxy and I'm fine with sticking to proxies. Hello,I am wondering if I should upgrade my entire current system or just parts. I've used this in the past to edit 1080p with some rendering and ecoding. Not bad, but not great. I recently got a DJI Mavic Pro 2 and 4k camera and am looking to export 4k with color grade, etc. Most will be for family/kid vids, under 10 mins. YouTube and Facebook stuff for family and friends. My workflow is to proxy down to 720p, but im looking for faster render and encode times, especailly when using motion graphics. Would appreciate some advice about what type of modern HDD would be best for video storage in my system.  Are NAS drives a good choice for internal storage? Need to replace 5-year-old Seagate Barracudas (legacy from my old system) probably with a pair of 4TBs.   Should mention my new system has an i7-8700K w/ 32BG Ram and two M.2 slots.  I use a 512GB M.2 SSD for OS/Software and another 1TB M.2 SSD to hold media for active projects.    Are 7200rpm NAS drives the way to go for additional storage?  Given all my other fast components (and better transfer rates for newer HDDs) would I notice much speed difference with large cache 5400rpm drives?    Any particular brands or model lines seem to be more quiet and/or reliable?  Thanks in advance for any info or suggestions.Mark

Now I'm a bit worried that my workstation is not optimal for After Effects, considering all my video files, my OS + AE application + Disk Cache are all going to this one drive (since RAID 0 combines both of my M.2 into one drive making it a lot faster, but less stable). Hi allI am looking to upgrade my PC and was looking for some advice as to what spec to look for. My current set up is OK but when using InDesign and my publications start to get full of images it really struggles and sometimes locks up.I am using Adobe cc 2019. Using mostly Indesign, photoshop, illustrator, acrobat and a bit of Premiere Rush. Our company does not allow MACs, sadly, so I am going to be using this on a Dell laptop. I'm being asked by my IT group what requirements are recommended to ensure the speed and efficiency needed to run programs like Premier Pro smoothly. I'll buy new license for it.What I really want to do is keep the programs and data on SSD drive I use for root.So that even remotely possible ? Hello everyoneI am going to try and keep this as simple as possible.I plan to get a new PC soon and I am driving myself a bit crazy trying to find the right combination of specs. Here are my questions. Keep in mind I will be editing HD 24,30,60fps and hopefully one day 4K in the same FPS. It will be mostly business videos with talking heads and some lower thirds, transitions and minor graphics.1. In terms of processor vs video card, which is really more important? For instance, is an i5-9400F 2.9 Turbo boost up to 4.1 ghz / 9MB Cache / with Front Side Bus 8GT/s / H310 motherboard with an Nvidia GTX 1650 4GB DDR5 better than an i7 8700 3.ghz turbo boost 4.6 ghz  / 12mb cache but with an integrated intel UHD Graphics 630 card? I just want to know for my purposes if I will notice such a huge difference between the i5 and i7? I have been using Premiere Pro and 4 other CC applications for the last 3-4 years as a hobby and business. Over those years, I have experienced a TON of crashes. Some saved by my macbooks ability to preserve the file and others by having autosave on.Recently, I upgraded my computer. Went from 4 cores to 6, 16GB ram to 32, M.2, RAID the whole nine. I've gone through several iterations to improve my machine thinking, it just isn't powerful enough.At this point, I 100% believe the premiere just not good enough. The only good thing that happened in the upgrade is export time... yay. Hi,I will be moving from FCPX & Motion to begin using Pr and Ae. I'm currently using a Macbook Pro (13-inch, late 2014), which has been surprisingly/unsurprisingly (?) amazing to work with, very smooth cutting, rendering effects, titles and transitions, playback, exporting, scrubbing etc, a bit of a dream actually.I've looked at the minimum requirements on the Adobe website to run CC 2019, it seems my current machine wont cut it. Excuse the pun. Too old, too low spec. Hey Guys,With the new Mac Pro being released shortly I have a few questions regarding hardware and performance. I'm hoping you all can help me out for a project I am doing at school.Can Premier Pro utilise all potential 28 cores on the New Mac Pro(or any computer for that manner)? Yes/NO  Is it the CPU or the GPU that determines the rendering time and does the term accelerated graphics refer to the gpu supporting the CPU to speed up rendering.Is it CPU or GPU that determines the exporting time? (ignore external drives, SSD etc etc,)For instant video playback during the editing phase, is this all GPU heavy?I know ram plays a big deal, but my main focus is cpu and gpu, trying to understand how the CPU and GPU affect video editing performance.Last but not least, if you where to take a hot on perfromance, would you rather have a lower GPU or a slower CPU and why Thanks so much for your help, much appreciated.

Hi at all,every day I am more aware that Premire pro cc and AME work badly and do not take advantage of the new CPU.Given the long rendering times I have with my computer, I have made a test comparing with a computer 10 years ago, with a CPU of 6 core at 2.9 GHz (xeon X5670) against a cpu contemporane from 16 core to 3.7 GHz (Amd 1950X).I've gotten to render a video in 4K of unso 6 minutes of duration with output in 4 formats of H264 ... I've done that test in the 2 pc:PC 1Amd 1950X, GTX1080, 64GB ramPC 2Xeon X5670, GTX1050ti, 16GB ramWell, the result has no logic, the pc with amd 1950X has taken 43 minutes while the xeon X5670 has taken 1 hour and 2 minutes.Seen the thing, it gives me to think that the programming of the suite of adobe CC are at least 10 years that is not updated to take advantage of the resources of the new CPU ...I think the adobe team should refresh their programs at the current time ...A greeting.

I have a custom built computer ( fractal design case … big size ). Is about 6 years old. Basically it is choking sometimes and I have to use proxies.I have SSD for OS and programsanother drive for source material (raid 0 HDD x 2)another drive for cache ( ssd)another drive for exports ( HDD)basically what I want to do is replace mobo, cpu, and ram so it is faster more powerful and less prone to proxy doing 4k.everything is full HD only... monitors and exports.. but new stuff ( 4k h264 for example) is lagging without proxy.I want to avoid making dnxhr sq proxies, and have stuff work OK.Is this even POSSIBLE ??  Can you replace a mobo and cpu and ram and KEEP your drives and programs and all the other stuff intact ? Hello!I want to get a new MacBook and wonder what the best configuration would be for working with Premiere and After Effects.For me it is important to stay mobile, since I work and travel a lot, therefore I want a MacBook more than a PC. I'm also a Mac user since around 8 years, therefore I don't want to switch to another OS.I do a lot of video editing in Premiere (mostly full HD proxies) and a lot of masking/retouching in After Effects. I'd be reluctant to recommend EaseUS. I'm currently looking for a new solution to do incremental backups of my footage and project drives. EaseUS runs ok for a week or two, then mysteriously fills up, even though I've configured it to only back up one day. I feel I can't depend on it. And customer support is non-existent. The tutorials are only basic. Live chat is never on. I'm looking at Paragon now.
