When you said sometimes you drop and image and it goes into the shape, I wonder if that’s because the shape was drawn with the Frame tool (maybe unintentionally), .. By @Conrad_C I can most assuredly say the Frame tool was not used at all, because I can only use the shape tool, since it's critical to assign a fill color to the shape (because many times these are simply used as placeholders for photos which are added in another department). But I cannot explain why every once in a while I can drag/drop a photo right into a shape box. It's really been bugging me, only because I hate not knowing things!

There are multiple ways to do this.. Thanks for the detailed explanation. It would be nice if I could assign a background (fill) color to a frame box. I don't suppose there's a way to do that, is there?

(Pshop 26.4.1, Mac OS Ventura 13.4.1) My question is about placing an image directly into a shape. I have my main Pshop document open, and a stock photo file opened next to my main document. Now, I typically drag the stock photo into my main document, place the photo directly over the shape, then go to the Layers palette, then OPT-Click on the line between the shape and the stock photo above, which then places the photo into the shape. However, sometimes, when I drag the photo to the shape in my main doc, the photo goes directly into the shape. But more often than not, the pick will NOT go into the shape via "drag-and-drop", and I must use the technique mentioned in my second paragraph (Opt-Click line between the layers). How can I get Photoshop to allow me to directly drag-and-drop a photo into my shape every time? Thank you-

That's a valid question. In reality,, the purpose is different from the "sending to printer" scenario. I currently have days where I must log in to my work computer remotely to access our centrall server. I then must occasionally download a PSD file off the server, then work on it on my home computer. This of course sometimes involves installing fonts onto my home computer so I can make the required text changes. I was hoping to gather those fonts used into a single folder, for transfer to my home computer. I used the "for printer" scenario because I felt other artists would be most familiar with that scenario, rather than my scenario.

This was an excellent suggestion. Thank you so much! "Use the Creative Cloud Library. Click on the fly out menu top right, and choose Create new library from document. It will save all fonts used, as well as colour swatches, styles, smart objects etc."

Is there a plugin available for Photoshop which will export a Photoshop file and its associated fonts into a tidy folder, to then be sent off to a print shop or whatever? Or, alternately, is there a way to generate a list of fonts utilized in a Photoshop file?

(Pshop 23.0.1, Mac OS 11.6) When I use my cursor to drag-select a bunch of elements in my document, it won't grab text blocks (even though the Layers palette shown them to be selected). How do I know this? Well, once I drag-select my elements, I'll use the Transform command to scale it all, but only the non-text items will scale. What's going on here? Maybe I bumped a setting, somewhere?

(Mac OS 11.6, Pshop 23.2.2) I just updated Photoshop to v23.2.2. It messes up the Levels adjustment layers in my existing files. Not all, but some. The layer might appear as a solid black square, or like it has a "solarize" filter. Anyhoo, keep up the good work, Adobe! Such a great feeling knowing I'm paying $52/month for the privilege of participating in an endless betaware experiment.

(Pshop 22.5.1, Mac OS) Every time I draw a rectangle with the shape tool in a new document, Photoshop assumes I want 10px radiused corners, and a 1pt gray stroke. How can I tell Pshp that I always want to start with square corners (0px radius) and no stroke? Thanks-

First, what the heck is a "Photoshop Ecosystem"? Why do you keep changing things for no good reason? I kept thinking I was in the wrong forum (and for all I know, I still might be). Second, I have the very latest Photoshop on my Mac. Now when I open a PDF, it just opens the PDF. Previously, when I open a PDF, I got a window which lets me select either "pages" or "images". This was great for extracting photos or other elements from a PDF. How can I get this feature back?

While working with spreads, in all previous versions, I'd select the Page Tool, click the page I want to move, move it (with a few clicks of the Right arrow key, or sometimes SHIFT+ Right arrow), and it would move both the page AND the artwork sitting on the page. Now, with Version 17, this action only moves the page, and NOT the artwork. Why, Adobe? I'm on an iMac.

(Mac OS Big Sur, Pshop 22.4.2) I get this weird issue whenever we work in Photoshop directly off our server (Windows server) where when I save the file in the course of my work, Photoshop generates an empty folder in the server directory (I can also see these folders on the actual server when viewed directly on the Windows computer.) . As you can see in the attached photo, I have saved this document three times. How can I get Pshop to stop doing this? It happens in any version of Pshop I use, so it's not a problem exclusive to the latest version. It was also doing it before I upgraded to OS Big Sur. I should also mention that Illustrator and InDesign do not do this.

(Pshop 22.4.1, Mac Catalina) Today Photoshop has decided, against my wishes, that I want all shapes drawn with the rectangle shape tool to have a 10 px radius on all corners. What sort of Satanic software is Adobe selling? And how do I tell Photoshop I want all future rectangles drawn with the rectangle shape tool to default back to a 0 corner radius, and that the decision to add a corner radius is for reserved for me, and not Photoshop?

(InDesign 16.1, Mac OS Catalina) Can anyone tell me why InDesign keeps generating these weird little test files? They do not go away after I close the document. I have to manually throw them away. A "Get Info" on the file shows it is a Unix exectuable, with Zero bytes. I'm working off a Windows 10 server. (Ignore the "Dropbox" label on the window frame, it's just the name of the main folder.)

Ok I have a little problem. One day I was deleting a layer mask via the layers tab window. I dragged the mask to the trash symbol, then I got a pop-up, asking if I wanted to apply the mask before I deleted it. There was of course a little checkbox in this window for "Do not show this notice again." Well, I checked it. I shouldn't have, because now whenever I delete a mask, it automatically applies the mask to the layer. How do I go back to unchecking the "Do not show this again" thing? Thanks.

I have two video tracks. Track 1 is a video of a scenic background. Track 2 (placed in front of track 1) is a talking head shot on a green screen. When I import it, its physical size is roughly half of the background track. How can I resize the green screen track to match, or cover, the size of the background video track? Thank you-
