I am preparing a form for my client to fill in. Have done this many times, but here is a new wrinkle. I want him to be able to update as necessary, but then be able to somehow lock it or change it from a fillable file to one that is static, so that he can distribute to his clients and then cannot mess with it. I appreciate that Illustrator supports right-to-left, but I work mostly in English and I cannot find a way to have the text tool default to left-to-right. How can this be done. I don't want to have to reset paragraph and allignment every time I select the type tool Thanks

Just within the past few days, Acrobat does not see recent files either in the dropdown menu or on the dispay page that shows up when I open the app. To my best knowledge, I haven't adjusted any settings or updated the app. Oddly, it does show files from a few days ago, just nothing most current. Any ideas/suggestions? My version deets are in the attached screen shot. Thanks

I had middle east loaded at one time, but I don't think it is still the case. It does not give me the option to change direction in the paragraph palette... I have lost how to double check the languages in my account. My other apps do not do this. I type Big, and what I get is ,Big

I'm sorry, I don't know enough about this to understand your answer. I created a document java script, but then I don't know how to apply this script to a button...I see no way to select this particular script. ANd I am not even sure this it the right way to do it. It might be better if you can point me to some sort of tutorial, rather than try to go back and forth with this, given my limited knowledge.

This script works to add the form to the outgoing email and adds the proper subject line. I guess I can dispense with the message in the body. But my problem is this: I open the document the first thing that happens is a cue to send email, before the form opens to allow people to fill it in. This will be distributed to people and they should not confront this confusing email message until they have seen and completed the form. Actually, I still have a bit of a problem because when I open the pdf, it immediately gives me a box to send an email before I have actually completed the form....How do I fix that?

Hi Try67 (i know your name from previous encounters, but I am not sure I should use it here. I have adapted the basic script in this string to get the proper subjectline based on my form. I can also add a body line, but I would like it to appear before the actual form, rather than at the end of the body of the email. (In this case the message is "Here is my application. Thank you." See images. Is there a way to do this? Thanks, Stuart

No. :-(. I don't have the flyout that allows me to change paragraph direction. The setting is alread put at Adobe Paragraph Composer...Toggling back and forth to World Ready doesn't help either....

I had loaded the Arabic R-t-L version of inDesign, but with the latest version, I reverted to English (I thinkk) Two things keep happening.... 1) If I import directly from a Word doc, the text box created is a R-t-L, that is the continuation box is at bottom left. 2) When I try to set tabs they set R-t-L. What can I do?

Hi, I have a series of documents that keeps growing. They use many of the same style sheets, with particular ones showing up here and there. I don't want to add them all to a book, because they need to live separately with separate pagination. Is there a way to link them all to a specific master set of text styles such that if I update/add something to one document, it will appear when I open a sister document? If I add them to a book would that essentially merge all the stylesheets? If I do that, can I keep each doc with its own pagination starting at 1? (I guess I could import styles into each doc after I happen to change styles in one, but that seems kind of clunky.) Thanks, Stuart

Thanks, I figured out the binding thing, but I cannot seem to set other parameters and make them stick... There was a time when you could open InDesign without a document open and set defaults, that doesn't work anymore. I have all the paragraph specs and fonts set to "Normal" right to left and still when I import I get this right facing cursor, and the continuation box is at lower left. I don't have the right to left type tool selected When I create a new text box by importing it jumps back to the RTL in my paragraph window...regardless of how I may have adjusted anything else. If I create a text box and paste into it instead of importing it seems to work OK...Adobe chat told me to re-install, but that seems a pain when I have to go back and forth between languages

I have gotten the MENA version because I have to do some docs using Arabic. I got that figured out OK, but now I want to go back to creating a document in English. However, when I import text from Word the placement arrow icon points from right to left. The continuation icon on a the text boxes is at lower left instead of lower right, and when I make a pdf, the pages display from left to right. When I create a new text box on the page, or if I copy from Word and paste into a text box it acts normally. . However, when I make a pdf the pages still array right to left.

When I use the preview item in the status bar bottom right, it works for browsers, but I really want to see how it will look in Outlook. When I try this, I get a message in Outlook that says "Unknown host in URL". Don't know exactly what this means or what I can do to fix it. Help anyone

I received files from a client. There is a discrepancy between the document that opens and the thumbnail showing in the gallery. Can anyone explain this? When I open I get this small pasteboard with one logo. But the gallery thumbnail shows lots of other content. Where is it? Does it exist? It doesn't appear as separate layers, nor does it appear when I reveal hidden elements. (I added screen shots in this message, but also attached them below...not sure what is best way to include them.)

I press shift to make the animation run, but then I cannot stop it to move further...it just keeps repeating. Pressing Shift again does not stop it. And when I roll over any of the buttons, icons, whatever, I cannot select anything...it just keeps running.... There must be a simple answer that I am missing
