The program is running very slowly on various simple tasks -- merging clips, importing a file, moving clips, cutting and pasting -- the beach call starts spinning and the tinyest task takes several minutes. Have tried deleting backups, closing all other apps, watching Activity Monitor, shutdown and restart. Problem persists, seems worse later in the day. It's getting impossible to maintain a smooth workflow. Hi Steve I am listening on headphones, so that output is set correctly. I tried external speakers, but just placing the imported clip in the timeline has no audio; flatline. I am not sure what to set my input as, since I am not using the PreSonus Audiobox, but raw .wav files from the recording or audio clips in via Descript. It was a great combination initially -- if I needed a certain passage, I could search for it in Descript, then export that audio and import it into Audition. But suddenly those imported files come up silent. So now I can't use that system, and unsure where the problem is, Descript, Audition, or me. File attached; exorted from Descript (where there IS audio, and imported into Audition, where there is not. Thanks for any advice.

Hi, and thanks I create a project in Descript, but after I had problems trying to edit there, I returned to editing in Audition, where I set up the sesx file. I transcribe Interviews in Descript, then and export audio to Audition. I keep the Descript transcription document open, and then when I need a phrase, I export it to a folder within my Audition project. From there I import the clip into the project Files bin, then drag into my Audition timeline. That's where I discover the clip is empty, no audio. I'm also getting a warning that devices attached to the project have changed. I look at the Audio Hardware panel, and cannot figure out the solution. I am not using the Presonus Audio Box USB 96 at the moment; The entire interview is imported directly from Descript and saved in the project folder. I have set the input to "No Default Input," since it is all internal. I have also looked at the Audio Channel Mapping, and cannot make any changes (locked). I wouldnt know what to change even if they were unlocked. I have attached screenshots for Audio Hardware as well as channel mapping Thanks for any advice! I have been exporting short clips from Descript transcript to Adobe Audition, but when I open them in Audition THERE IS NO AUDIO. Its bizarre, because the transcript plays as usual within Descript, but is silen t in Audition. Is there some setting that I erroneously set that has caused this? Help would be much appreciated, since this is for a podcast episode that is now way behind, and we count on donations, sponsors etc, and we're running out of money. THANKS Rob

I work in Audition, and when editing auditions I always work in WAV then convert to .mp3 for submission, which is what all clients request. Until now. I have received these weird instructions: "Keep all files RAW and peaks between -12 to -6 dB. The WAV file type and audio specs are non-negotiable! Talent will be asked to list their recording equipment and pass audio checks!" What the f does this mean? I can give them WAV, but what is RAW? Thanks. Rob

Thank you Steve. Unfortunately, I am on a Mac, and "Process Monitor is an advanced monitoring tool for Windows that shows real-time file system ." There really does seem to be a prejudice against Macs in the tech world. So I am still stuck. I am going to follow your suggestion to review Auditions log file, if I can find it. I do plan on taking the computer into Apple when this project is done, as it is still on Warranty. Thanks as always for your generous sharing of your brain. It is much appreciated! Rob

This would be an ENORMOUS help when using a large number of files, many of which fit into similar categories but are scattered through the file bin. It seems a fundamental feature that Adobe could add easily, and would make many users VERY happy.

I have the same problem, although I am not using a template. The spinning beachball now runs for up to a minute on every move I make, including just slightly moving a clip, trimming, etc. It is making working almost impossible. I am editing a large and somewhat complex Audition project, with 24 tracks, probably 100 files, running time 40 minutes. I am working in Audition Beta version 25..0.1.57, October 28,2024, on a Mac Studio M1 with 64gb of memory (54 allocated to Audition), on the newest OS, Sequoia 15.0.1. I have my project, files and back-ups all on an external drive, a LaCie d2 Professional 8TB STHA8000800. I back up every 10 minutes, and have exported the entire session and files to my internal drive. SteveG advised activating render in real time on all tracks, so the program does not try to render the entire project on every edit. I have done that, and it makes no difference. A surprise, since he is almost always right. I have spoken to Apple, as the machine is still on warranty, and they suggest backing up the content and bringing it in. I will do that as soon as I finish this project. I will also consult with LaCie/Seagate. Any suggestions? Thanks! Rob

Hi Steve well, I tried that, and still have the problem. The beachball spins on almost every action -- inserting a clip, moving a clip, cutting, applying effects, etc. it spins for up to a minute, slowing down the workflow to the point editing -- which I usually enjoy -- is aggravating. The Max Studio M1 with 68 gb (54 allocated to Audition) normally is very fast. I have the project and all files and backups on a LaCie external drive with 8gb storage. I am wondering if it's my DAW, which is still on warranty, but hoped to finish this project before I back it up and take it in for an overhaul. Any thoughts? thanks for all your help. Rob

I am working on a complex 20 minute project in Audition. It has slowed down considerably, to the point that I am afraid it will crash any minute. The spinning beach ball comes up on almost every cut, so matter how simple. Although I have been using Audition for five years, there is a lot I do not know. You guys have helped me correct dumb errors, and I hope this one can be solved simply. Some technical info on my system is below. Any advice is welcome. Thanks! Hi. Happy 4th everyone. I have a 36 minute Premiere Pro 24.5.0 file edited on a Mac Studio running Sonoma 14.5 that I have tried exporting as usual, but the 2.04 GB mpeg-4 ends at 26 minutes. I have a large number of files in my Audition project, and waste time searching for the clip or music piece that I want to use. I am wondering if Adobe might add a feature where users could create "bins" or folders within the files panel where we could sort our files into sub-categories (e.g. music, bridges, dialogue clips by speaker, etc.)

This is not working for me. I am working on an Apple M1 Max Studio, Version 14.1, and Audition Build 24.2.0.83, details below. I get the yellow line, but cannot inset keyframes. I used to do this easily, especially to control music and effect levels. I have tried all combinations suggested, and still no keyframes. Thanks in advance for any solutions. I have 12 tracks in a multitrack edit, and would love to find a shortcut that would let me select one track and mute all the others, so I can quickly listen to that track on its own in the multitrack view instead of having to mute the other 11 one at a time. I just set up our ProSonus AudioBox USB96 on our new MacStudio (finally!) and was aboout to record a mukltitrack session in Audition when I heard this background noise. Did a test record, it's definitely there. I have hearf this kind of thing when a cell phone was close, or electrical cords crossed mic cables -- no wires are crossed. -- but I moved the cell phone away, and it's still there. I hear it in my headphones before record. Mystery, of the aggravating kind. Any thoughts from you gurus? Thanks rob Model Name: Mac Studio. Hi Just imported more video and having this same issue. We DID order a new Mac Studio, but it's on a ship from China somewhere and won't be here for a few months, so I am stuck with this old system for now. The same problem has occurred -- the video is washed out in Premiere, and the fix suggested by Neil Haugen above unfortunately doesn't apply to this version (Adobe Premiere 14.8.0 (Build 39) working on an iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011), OS 10.13.6 (it's maxed out at High Sierra -- I know -- need a new one). My windows do not correspond to his, and those options are not available to me. I do see that the color space is Rec.709, but the video is still washed out, when it looked perfect in the iPhone. If I right click and go to properties, I see this: Type: MPEG Movie File Size: 38.63 MB Image Size: 1920 x 1080 Frame Rate: 29.97 Source Audio Format: 44100 Hz - Compressed - Mono Project Audio Format: 44100 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Mono Total Duration: 00:00:37:06 Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0 Alpha: None Video Codec Type: HEVC 10 bit 4:2:0 Variable Frame Rate Detected. Sequence settings are attached; also show working color space as Rec 709. I'm attaching two screenshots, one from the iPhone, which looks fine, and the other from Premiere, which is washed out. At a loss. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks, as always. Rob

Thank you so much Steve. If we ever meet, I want to go to a pub and buy you a pint. Or two. You are a very good man. I did manage to resolve the problem with the guest we are recording today, I got him to buy a decent mic, and in a couple of "sound check" sessions via Squadcast. I educated him on his Mac sound preferences and level controls, as well as getting him to go through Squadcast's "Green Room" sound check. In the end, he sounded fabulous. That only happened because he's an old friend from high school. Most guests won't go through all that. So it's a challenge, sstill. But your answer -- as always -- settles it, and I can't thank you enough for your consistent generosity in here. Our podcast (https://www.talkinboutourgeneration.com) is running a series on "The State of Civility in America," and you are the epitome of Civility. thanks. Rob
