Hey Neil! Thanks so much! That was it. I checked the Maximum bit depth box in sequence settings and the image looks perfect again. I can even undo redo the Max bit depth setting change and see the image turn from horrible banding to pristine gradient sky. So glad this was solved! Thank you very much!

I sent Blackmagic my file and they confirm the problem and refer to Adobe for a fix: "Thanks for sending the footage over. We pulled it into Resolve and Premiere and found that the banding was only seen in Premiere. We know Resolve plays back footage at 10 bit, and Premiere plays back at 8 bit. I am unsure if or how to enable 10 bit play back in Premiere but since we're seeing the footage looking fine in Resolve and when we play it in our BRAW player, we believe this is caused by Premiere and I suggest contacting Adobe support or looking through their forums on this matter."

Thanks for the help! Ok, so when I install the Autokroma plugin nothing changes at first. but if I go to the Autokroma source settings and change "Decode using" to BRAW Default the problem almost completely disappears, I can still see some of the banding problem compared to Resolve but it's very minimal. It the "Decode using" is set to Camera Metadata (which is the default) I see the full problem with the banding. I assume there's an error here somewhere still happening in the way Premiere perhaps handles the camera metadata or something? There's no change if I switch from Gen 5 to Gen 4 Lut. When I really crush both the images hard I can see these weird black lines in the Premiere waveforms, not sure if this is related? Not sure if you can see the slight difference in image quality but there's still some banding visible in the Premiere image.

Hi Neil, I simply import the gen5 BRAW files in to Premiere and I can immeadiately see the banding and poor quality. It is accentuated of course if I do any color grading or add any LUTs. So the problem seems to be how Premiere is reading the gen5 BRAW files. Im specifying gen5 since I have no issues with the previous gen4 BRAW files. I use the Blackmagic RAW 3.3 plugin. Not the Autokroma plugin. I also wrote to Blackmacig support and they suggested that "it is possible Premiere is encoding the footage in 8 bit whereas Resolve is showing it in 10 bit. Perhaps there is a setting for your monitoring within Premiere, but I suggest contacting Adobe if you're having trouble finding the right settings." Im unaware of settings in Premiere where you could choose the bit rate?

Hi! I've been using Gen 4 color on my Pocket 4K for a few years now in Premiere with no issues whatsoever. I recently upgraded both my cameras to Gen5 and I'm getting a lot of banding on all my Gen5 footage when imported to Premiere. I'm using the official LUT in both Resolve and Premiere Pro. I'm using Mac Studio Max 1 with Ventura 13.4 (22F66) and Premiere Pro 23.3.0. Preview is on Full, playback on Full and high quality playback is enabled. Im also seeing the banding on export. Render and preview in Resolve both look fine. The problem is not visible in Resolve however so luckily it's not an issue with the footage. Please see two screenshots attached where you can see the issue. Top is still from Resolve and bottom with the banding very visible from Premiere. I would appreciate help on how to fix this in Premiere. Thank you!

Hi Randy Im sorry I'm a bit confused. This is the font I am using at the moment. I don't understand how I could be using any other font (in Indesign) other then if it's a font converted to paths. The original problem still remains. When I use the Indesign replace font function to replace the Futura font in the document. Save the document and re-open, it still claims that this font is missing. I'm sorry if I'm not understanding you correctly or I am missing something here?

Hi Randy, I'm not sure what you mean by "do you have a cut of the Futura Font"? Futura.ttc is installed via fontbook on my system. I don't see multiple installs and fontbook doesn't find any duplicates... I also only see one instance of this font in the library -> fonts folder. Sami

Hi Randy! Thanks for the help! The document is a simple DVD cover design. Yes, the file originates from another designer from a PC environment made in earlier version of Indesign. I've used it as a template and have used "save as" after making my changes. So, what I did now was I created a brand new document and copy pasted all the material from the old document to a new document in Indesign. When I did this all the fonts changed to a different font. I had to manually replace them again to correct ones. When I open this new indesign file a I get this pop up... So something is wrong with Futura-font on my system? There is a Futura PT available on Typekit so maybe I should install that on my system and change all my Futura font instances to typekit version?

Hi Everytime I open a document I get this warning that I have missing fonts in my document. All of the fonts are installed on my system and/or synced from typekit. They work with no problems on other programs. Even if I use the Find Fonts and replace all of them, next time I open the document the same Missing Fonts window pops up... I've now got the look I was after with simple Lumetri curves adjustments and the file renders fine! I guess what one needs is to come here to ask for help and then realise how to actually google stuff.

It was a direct export. But it renders it wrong from AME as well. It actually shows it in the preview window... But what I did now was export it as Quicktime, import back to PP and apply a very strong curve to get rid of the red cast. Looks pretty good. I guess I won't be filing a bug report on this one though being a legacy app. But still if anyone knows how I could recreate this look with Lumetri or current tools I'd appreaciate it! Sami

Hi, As you can see in the picture attached when I try to render it out the fast color corrector completely messes the render. I've created a strong color correction for a solar eclipse (original clip is b&w of course). I would gladly recreate this in Lumetri but I'm not getting anywhere near the vibrant orange color I'm getting with fast color corrector. So if someone can point out what's wrong with the settings to get it to render correctly or how to do this with other non legacy tools I'd appreaciate it! PS. When I export a frame it looks as it should.

Hi I can confirm this bug. On PP 11.1.2 the War Stabilizer works as expected but on PP 12.1 Warp Stalizer VFX creates a nasty ripple effect. PP 12.1 Warp Stabilizer VFX Problem on Vimeo I'm filing a bug report.

What I did with our feature film project file was instead of opening it I imported it into a new project. It takes quite a while but this helped with a few issues I was having. Nothing as drastic as your though. But worth a try if you have the time.

Both steps give me the same "wrong" results. So at least it is consistent. I installed 2015.4 but my backup project won't open in that (I always save as when making big changes). It seems it was actually begun in version 11.0.2. CC won't let me install that without deleting the newer PP. In any case, I went through the whole project and corrected all the affected clips. Now I just need to triple check it. A lot of work.

Hi, I upgraded to PP 11.1.2. (22). I recently finished a feature documentary project and of course suddenly I needed to render a new web version. When I opened the project in the new PP a random amount of clips has changed significantly. It seems to affect highs and lows mostly. But I'm at a loss how to fix this issue... I've seen similar issues discussed on the forums earlier but I can't find a solution. It affects only some clips, not all of them, this is the weirdest part. The effects are different on each so I can't locate a problem. Look at the picture attached. The left half of the image is from a master render I did on the old PP a few weeks ago (and that is how the image should look). The right half is what the new PP gives me. Washed out blacks and highlights. There's only one Lumetri instance in this particular clip with only a slight curves and Basic Correction adjustment. Some affected clips don't even have these effects. I can't find a common nominator... Very fishy!! Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you ryclark! Not an answer I was hoping for but appreciated. I guess that makes this whole thing a no go if the volume changes that drastically for no obvious reason. But still... how do I select the clips in the timeline though? There's hundreds of clips in the Files window. I need to apply a certain effect to a certain batch of clips and it will take forever to go though them one by one by name...
