I had a similar issue with video going into a non-Adobe product and followed these same steps in the updated Apple OS and it resolved the issue for me for that app as well.

Do the video files still open in other apps just fine? Programs like Quicktime, etc?

I suspect the Smart Object element is what is complicating the render process. It would be better to use Adjustment Layers to correct the appearance of the video and render that. Your approach is sound, and the editing features in the RAW filter are much easier to correct with, but that's not really what it's intended for and adds a lot of processing time. Your other option is to use Adobe Premiere.

I never, in all the years it's been part of Photoshop, had an issue of it freezing or even chugging when working. What are some of the specs/conditions in which this is showing as an issue? Super large files?
Complex selections? Lots of layers? Is the issue replicable? Does it do this regardless of the image file? Like, can you create a new document 500px by 500px and start drawing around and it crashes or lags? If your machine is older, is it trying to use the GPU in preferences and that causes the issue? If you change scratch disk settings does it have any impact?

I can't seem to recreate this issue. Is it having the problem across all files, or blank/flattened new documents? Is it only that particular image file? Is there something unique about it? It looks to be inverted or negative tonally.

Ahhh I better understand the request now. Go to this page and submit it as a feature request. That will be seen by the product managers and engineering team if there is enough response to it. https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family

So there is a hack from the CS5 days where you could go into a directory and do a rename to find images that were duplicates through the metadata and changing resolution. Check out this tutorial someone wrote back then. Maybe it puts you on the right path. https://itstillworks.com/12535416/how-to-remove-duplicates-in-adobe-bridge

Hey Peter, Bridge itself as an application for CC2019 is about 1gb. All the files you're viewing within it might be a lot more, but that's fine if those are on an external drive.

Sounds like something is missing from the install, or some sort of conflict that is probably tied to RAM or CPU/GPU. I'd honestly try using the adobe app manager from CC to uninstall the program. Then redownload and do a fresh install of Illustrator and see if the problem persists. With that powerful a machine it shouldn't take too long. That will confirm at least if it was the install or if there is something else going on.

Navigate up to the parent directory that all of the 1000s of folders are sitting in. Then using the filter on the left side, choose TIFF as the key filter which will remove any other files. Now go up to View, and come down to the menu item that says to include Subfolders in the view. You should now be able to see all the TIFFs from that top directory through all of the subfolders. Now you can select all and apply metadata templates or batch process as needed.

You can theoretically run the program from any drive, but it's probably a better idea to install it in the applications folder on your main machines and if you need room to store your files on an external other drive.

I've only witnessed this once before and it was a permissions issue when attempting to rigth the metadata to an external drive/server on a network. The port had issues with limited access for users on their company network. Not sure if that's the case here, but anytime you have stuff on a network, raid, or external drive, it makes me wonder about permissions. Is there a particular file it's doing this too? Is it all files, all formats?

It depends on what your needs are. If you are keeping a library of images from your jobs you could organize them, batch output them in bulk for resizing, renaming, etc. Or if you are taking pics of receipts/work orders, you could use the info panel to add notes or even specific values like address, etc.

If you right click on it to reveal the context menu, and go down to Reveal in Finder, what does it show in your native Windows explorer view? Does the preview look accurate there? Is this one file, or many files doing this? What file format is it? JPEG, TIFF, PSD?

I would suggest trying the Export for Screens feature. In it you can set multiple sizes that are either by percentage (2x, 3x, 4x, etc...) or you can enter specific dimensions as well as choose a file format. So then you would only have to open one file, and then export it out multiple ways at the same time. Ideally you record an action for this and then you can batch process the whole set.

I wonder how much of this is related to the division of the RGB spectrum (CIE Color Model) Although we numerically divide the individual channels by 0-255, which implies they are equally divided, but the CIE color model is not divided equally. Or possible, as it is turning the the HUE value a number of degrees as a numerical measure is it relatively shifting the luminance value by a corresponding amount?

I would agree it would be great to treat this in a way that is like a web graphic that is linked to, and then appearance properties are stacked over it when the pattern is used. That way you don't have duplicates. If you have thousands of swatches, how big is each swatch on average? I ask because I think that information would be helpful to someone from Adobe that reads this. If it is taking up such a big part of your hard drive, this could help inform a resolve.

You may need to adjust the settings for your scratch disk. You can find those settings in the Photoshop Preferences area. This article might also be interesting for you: https://www.howtogeek.com/302544/how-to-manually-clear-out-photoshops-massive-temp-files/

Although PS can do some interesting 3D things. Like beveling, extruding, applying surface properties, and lighting. That sort of distortion on the interior part of the object would need to be done in a program like Cinema 4D or other 3D programs similar to it.

There are also some programs that will have conflicts with JPEGs that contain image modes that it can't read. For example if it's in CMYK or ProPhoto RGB, etc. If there is anything used in the encoding of hte JPEG that your destination program doesn't understand it may not accept the file.

Here is an example file you can use to deconstruct how a knob/button can be built with just some fill gradients and stroke gradients. If you like this, just draw a new circle, and then with the eyedropper tool sample from one of these that I've made and it will copy the appearance properties. You can also select one and go into the Appearance panel to see how it's built. Download link here to the AI file. - Knob-button.ai - Google Drive

Are these 3D files also including symbols? Some symbol technology has changed over the last couple of years and I'm wondering if that's a root source of your issue? Maybe need to strip out some elements to see where the file breaks. As Monika mentioned, if you can share a file for others to test with, that would be a big help.

Generally these issues are managed by the print controls. You're using two types here, looks like mac and windows. But if you're sure your Photoshop document is a size that will fit on the paper, then in the print dialogue box you should be able to control paper/layout settings to get it set right. On my mac, regardless of my printer, I can set the position by placing my cursor on the thumbnail, clicking and moving it around on the preview. This sets where it aligns to print. The values are represented in the dialogue box as well. Just make sure "Center" isn't checked if you want to move it around freely. If it looks right in the preview, but it's not coming out the same. There's an issue at the printer with paper settings, or layout settings. Good luck.

If the earlier suggestion made by SC Riegel doesn't cover what you need. It sounds like you need to dive into the new Freeform Gradient tool features. YOu can access this as the third button in your gradient options within the Appearance/Properties area of the UI. It allows you to set coordinate points inside an object if you want gradients to radiate/blend around that point. Or you can draw lines, which can be straight or curved, inside the object. This, I think, reflects your idea of using the knife tool to chop up areas and have gradients blend between them.

I met with the head of Project Lincoln during www.creativeproweek.com in Seattle just a few weeks ago. It is still in development and gaining support at Adobe. I wouldn't expect it out anytime soon, but I did get to see a real working version of it first hand and the potential is extremely positive. But at a guess, it's probably a couple of years away.

When you vector trace, and then expand, your original artwork. You should now have vector objects of all your drawing parts. It sounds like you're coloring the parts separately in your analog original drawing. So if you traced it with the settings to keep colors intact, it should keep some colors after you expand the vector tracing. Here is a good step by step walk through of the tracing options: How to edit artwork in Illustrator using Image Trace But for your type of project, I've done this process myself. You need to learn how to used the Edit > Edit Colors > Recolor Artwork dialog box. Lots of good videos online about this. But in a nutshell, it will show you all the colors in your artwork that you have selected (assuming it's expanded for best results) and then in there you can change it to a specific number of colors/inks. This will help when you need to make your separations. About halfway down on this page there is some good info about Recolor Artwork, although the whole page might be handy if you're new to this. Work with color groups (harmonies) in Illustrator Good luck!
