Thank you. This was very helpful. I can't find Pro Res, but I rendered it as a DNxHR file, which came in at a better quality than the H. 265. I also rendered it as a JPEG.mov file which was much better than the JPEG sequence (as individual frames) but not as clear and bright as the DNxHR file. The original compressed Tiff sequence was about 5.1 GB. The DNxHR was 2.8 GB. The JPEG .mov was 850 MB. DNxHR appears to be the way to go.

I transfer my files out to Da Vinci Resolve (until Premiere gets a decent temporal noise reduction effect) and back to Premiere. I render my animations as jpeg files. But the output from Resolve as a jpeg sequence is, for some reason, very noisy (and 1 GB) from a tiff sequence. However, when trying the output/delivery using h.265 (at its highest quality 80,000 kbs, CBR), it works well. It plays smoothly and without noise... and it is only 148 MBs. But I’m nervous about the tiny file size, which is far smaller than the noisy jpeg sequence... Will it have enough information for the final output render in Premiere (a lower bitrate h.265) as compared to rendering out as a jpeg sequence, 7 times the MB size as the h.265 file?

Actually, the jpeg sequence came in with more noise than before and was one gb for a 20 seconds clip. I rendered a high-quality H.265 at CBR, and it was much better and 128 MB (at 4k). But is an h.265 any good as an archival format at 1/8 the MB as a jpeg sequence? (I think I'll start another post on this subject.)

Problem solved. I now render it as a 26 bit Tiff sequence. I fix the noise and colour on Resolve. And then export it as a jpeg sequence (which is, in fact on Resolve), and delete the tiff files to save disk space.

Is there a good "temporal noise reduction" effect or plugin for Premiere? I just started using Blender for animations, which produces a lot of noise when using default denoisers for animations. Other solutions are very time-consuming and complicated. VR Denoise in Premiere doesn't work well. I tried the Neat demo, but it was too blurry. However, I tried DaVinci Resolve's Temporal Noise Reduction, which works brilliantly. But delivering it back to Premiere creates huge files at the uncompressed default. I usually use jpeg sequences (not available in Da Vinci) since they use up less hard drive space, and the quality at 100% is OK. But I would have to recompress the video back to Premiere to make it manageable in size, and it'd lose more quality. ...Or should I render it as a non lossy tiff sequence and then deliver it back to Premiere...using what type of file so that it is comparable to the original jpeg sequence in size and quality? Any ideas?

After some Googling, I see that Illustrator (8) files can export shapes/vectors from 3Ds Max and then open them flat to the picture plane in Illustrator. These paths/shapes/vectors can then be copied and pasted into Photoshop as paths and resized accordingly with Control/T... Solved.

I made a simple trapezoid box as part of a sculpture in 3Ds Max. I would like to bring an outline of the trapezoid-shaped sides into Photoshop to cut out part of a photo panorama. I'd like to print these trapazoid cutouts of the panorama and glue them onto actual shapes cut from plywood to scale. I exported these vector shapes from 3Ds, but Photoshop does not seem to accept any of the export files available in 3Ds. Illustrator will import the DWG files, but it brings them in oblique and not square to the picture plane. Any ideas?

It seems to import 3D for me. It imported the 3D model into Illustrator in an oblique orthographic view, as in the attached file, and it took very nice dimensions of the model. What I need to do is rotate the side panel cutout to the view plane. But when I go into "3D and materials," in order to revolve the object, it rendered a weird "bowl" as in the attachments in the top post. (It seems that it "lathed" and rendered the vectors.) Where might I find up-to-date tutorials on how to use 3D in Illustrator?

I made a simple trapezoid box as part of a sculpture in 3Ds Max. I would like to project a panorama wrap-around photo on the sides and decided that Illustrator might be the best software to calculate the size and how to cut the photo for each trapezoid-shaped side. I drew lines around each panel of virtual ..9 mil thick ply sides) and then lay these shapes down on the world x/y plane... and exported them to Illustrator as DWG and imported using “place”. The idea is to place the panorama under these shapes and cut out the pictures onto the trapezoid shapes. But when I place it into Illustrator it comes out as an orthographic projection with the x/y axis at an angle. How would I get it so that it is flat with the view plane to project the (as in the 3Ds screen grab)? When I go to 3D effect and try to rotate it, it gives a warning that it is rendering the simple vectors (why – can’t I do 3D without materials??) and then creates ‘bowl”. Any ideas where to find 3d tutorials on importing 3d models for Illustrator? Any ideas how to import a shape so that it is flat with the screen?

I have 64 GB RAM with a Ryzen 9 5950x processor. It seems to me that it used to open much faster with as many RAW images. I did reset as well.

Yes, it works quickly in Bridge once the thumbnails are created. But it is still slow when opening in Photohsop

Thanks, but it didn't work. Perhaps having 110 Raw images in the folder slowed things down when opening in Photoshop, but the thumbnails open instantly in the same folder in Windows Explorer.

When I try to open Raw files (or phototomerge files) in the latest version of Photoshop , Explorer says, "working on it" for about 20-40 seconds before the thumbnails appear. (I just installed the latest version of Camera Raw) However, the thumbnails appear instantly when looking at Windows Explorer on its own (not through Photoshop). Any ideas why? Other image files appear almost instantly. It is really slowing down the work process

Hi Sumeet, Do you think that version 22.4 would help? I have version 22.3. I'd upgrade to 22.4 but I'm afraid that I will lose all my render files (which take hours to re-do) as often happens with major updates - although I'm not sure about minor updates such as this one.

Thanks. I posted on the User Voice. I thought that I had the auto update turned off, but it was apparently on. I just reinstalled v15.4.1 and will stick to this one for a while - until this problem is sorted or I am ready for the big job of deleting and re-rendering all preview files. BTW why did Premiere Pro go from v15 to v22 in one year? Where did versions 16-21 go?

I've been asking this question for years. Why do the rendered preview files disappear from sequences in the introduction of new versions of Premiere Pro? I need to spend hours deleting the gigabytes of preview files and rendering all files on dozens of sequences. There must be some way to reattach the preview files?

I bought a video clip with an alpha channel. It works fairly well, except there is a bit unwanted greyish fringe at the bottom. Is there an effect that can adjust the alpha channel clip the way that I can adjust a keyed clip with the ulta key?

I downloaded a few YouTube (green screen and back ground clip) videos using "4K video downloader" as an experiment. The properties of all the videos came in at MP4/MOV H.264 4:2:0. One set of the background images cause the program to freeze up so that I had to force close it several times in Task manager. (I am working on a laptop, a new high end ASUS gaming laptop, with a good Uperfect portable monitor.) I reset Premiere 3 times. The first time, the freezing stopped and the green screen worked intermittently. but … I now just re-checked Premiere, the dropper does work, but only when it does not extend across screens onto the Uperfect Ultra 4k portable monitor. It works fine with the program monitor displayed in the laptop monitor (using a default workspace... and it seems to work as long as I don't move the program monitor back into the protable monitor screen). This has never happened before. Could it be the new portable monitor, or the new Nvidia update? (albeit I think it was the same with the old Geforce version.) I can toggle back and forth between workspaces for now. All other effects that I have tried seem to work with both moniotors... It is just the keying. Thanks for your advice!

Does anyone have an idea why the green screen dropper does not work (or work intermittently)? Update, I installed the latest Nvidia driver, and then tried the green screen in a new project in version 15.4. It sometimes takes a few clicks with the dropper, but it evetually works in the project, keying out the green. If I copy and paste the clip that works into the old project, it too will work there- the green is keyed out. But the same clip placed in the project (or any older project) will not key out the green. And why would it take a few clicks to work? Any ideas?

Update: I took a deep breath. Screamed into a pillow. (just joking.) Rebooted the computer. Went for a walk. Ate lunch. Came back and tried again adding new captions, while deleting the old ones. It worked and the subtitles exported this time when I checked "Burn Captions into Video". …Still no "Embed in Output File" option and the old subtitles were still stuck before I deleted them. They would not readjust (as do legacy titles) from ‘centred’ to ‘align left’ (or right). And when I tried readjusting the text spacing, they jumped up a few notches. So, yes, captions are still buggy, but I got the job done in the end.

The subtitles didin't export when I checked "Burn Captions into Video". And for some reason my 14.9 version does not have the Embed in Output File option. Addtionally I went back to change the center alignment of the captions to aligned left, and they didn't move....they would not align left. Next I tried to change one caption into 2 lines from one line by pressing enter 1/2 throught he caption....and then the second line bumped ito the first without any spacing (which it never did before now). Changing the spacing did nothing. It was frozen. I give up 🙂 I' m going to use leagacy titles or Text from now on. Captions are just too buggy.

Hi Stan, Thanks for your help!! I just updated to the latest yesterday to 14.9. I deleted all old cache and render files (but every time I open it now I have to search using the media browser for the new render files). UPDATE: Quickitme seems to work. The quality is better and the captiosn stay. I am new to captions (always using legacy titles before now...which still work fine). And in the previous version (before I upgraded yesteday from 14.1 to 14.9) I did have problems with catptions (mostly with aligning them), which I chalked up to a learning curve. I'm using hardware acceleration. I exported a section, that did not capture the captions, but I cannot find the "caption tab" to burn them in and when I double click on the caption, I cannot find this option in the export setting. My preview file is GoPro CineForm (YUV 10 bit) - because the rending quality was so poor with some 4k clips. ...Wait, I just changed it back to the default (I-frame) and the captions work! Hmm....now I have new questions: 1. Are there recommendations for preview files with good quality that work with captions? My previews look terrible with the default I-frame renderer. 2. Where is the burn in option when exporting or rendering? I still cannot export with the captions intact. 3. Why do the renderings now disappear when I re-open Premiere? I now deleted many hours of previews to try and get this to work. It all worked fine on 14.1 (which I reverted to earlier late last year…because I didn't want to re render 15 hours of video previews.) 4. Why is Premiere so buggy these days? It may just be the nature of the beast (of video editing software). But I've been using it for 20 years and the problems seem to be getting worse.

My open captions disappear when rendering my timeline. After spending a few hours searching online, the only “solution” that I could find is this older post which suggests updating. https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/open-captions-not-visible-after-rendering-cc-2017/m-p/8838281#M58766 I updated (and consequently lost ALL my renderings which often happens when updating…a few more hours wasted re-rendering) and it still happens when re-rending the sequence. Any suggestions? Should I go back to legacy titles? Thanks in advance!

I need to use a graphics card that works well for both 3Ds Max and Premiere. It looks like only AMD Radeon PRO's are so far certified for the most recent 3Ds Max's. But Radeon PRO's don't do GPU acceleration (no CUDA )... or do they? I'm looking at a AMD Radeon PRO WX 7100.

I decided to install an older version. After trying 14.1, 14.2, it turned out that 14.0.4 is the one that works for me. I'll upgrade when Adobe uploads a version that works correctly (and doesn't delete all render files, or have other errors such as the legacy title error in 14.1)

I upgraded to 14.3 and lost the links to all my Work Area render files! Disappearing links to render files have happened after upgrades in the past over many years. This is not a new probelm. I had thought that it might be fixed by now. I had been holding off upgrading for a while due to this, and other bugs, but decided to bite the bullet and upgrade today. I have dozens...maybe hundreds of render files attached to sequences that I would very much like to not to waste many hours re-rendering (and then I need waste more hours in order to search and delete all previous rendering files on my hard drives that are taking up space - now useless). Is there a workaround to this problem yet? On an upgrade a year so ago, after a few days, all the render files mysteriously were inexplicably attached to the sequences again. I have many gigs of rendered files for my sequences. How can I link them again?

I've never installed any external fonts. I've only used the ones that came with Premiere. One project had the warning "invalid font family: OCR A Std, replaced by: CourierNewPSMT". another was Adobe Arabic, replaced by CourierNewPSMT". I've never seen this before now, and I've been using Premiere for 20 years.
