transform doesn't work. that puts it in to transform mode and actually moves the clip on the canvas. Need to just be able to pan my view. Still stuck with this

Was it ever possible to option+click or cmd click in PP to revert an eased keyframe to a normal/linear keyframe? I feel like I was able to do this until recently or was I just imagining it because its possible to do it in AE (e.g. https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-discussions/how-to-revert-an-easy-ease-keyframe-to-a-normal-one/m-p/2353575) Is there a way to switch it on in PP or does it need to be a kb shortcut?

Okay thanks for the reply I don't know if I'd consider it 'odd' in this case - Does your AE not auto complete brackets for you too? In the right circumstances it's useful even, I guess I will have to put it in the Adobe suggestions box. Maybe highlight the piece you want brackets and hit shift bracket or something.

Hi there This is a general question about the code autofill (auto-closing brackets) When I go back to an equation that I am writing in an expression and want to add in brackets Made-up example: Original code 5+5*2 = 15 New code desired result (5+5)*2 = 20 When I type the left bracket (, it automatically closes () So in the case of the above I would get ()5+5*2 when trying to adjust and then have to delete or cut and paste a bracket. Is there some shortcut instruction that allows me to say highlight the section and "put it in brackets" or do I just need to decide if I turn off the autobrackets feature altogether etc. If there is no shortcut I'd probably turn it off automatically but if there is I'd rather do the more efficient way if there is one I don't know of.

Thanks Mathias - that was a great help exactly what I was looking for. Thankyou. Rick also provided what I was after in another form. Thanks to you too. Mylenium was helpful too in his own way. Thankyou. Yours is the third best answer of the three.

Hi I hope this actually makes sense. The picture might actually make this more confusing. I am messing around with Sine waves trying to isolate various quarters of the wave phases. I am trying to achieve a sine wave that reaches its peak then zeroes for another 3 phases i.e. just 1 quarter of the sine wave. Then I want to try and isolate the other 3 quarters. (End goal is to draw on all these quarters individually when I’m animating.) I have drawn the kind of sine wave I’m attempting to achieve first next to some of my other attempts (charted up in excel) . If anyone can please help me to isolate quadrants of the sine wave I would have a very nice weekend. Picture:

I have a crazy idea... I have a barcode scanner. & I have thought of common expressions and shortcuts that I use a lot. My crazy idea was to create a laminated sheet next to my workspace and have the scanner connected to my hub so that I could just zap up those expressions/shortcuts/automator processes any time I needed quickly. Except that I discovered that I can't create barcodes that contain any modifier keys e.g. command etc. or function keys and some symbols can't be coded as well such as inverted commas for creating expressions like loopIn This crazy idea as born purely out of just wanting to play around and experiment at home + maybe improve my adeptness and pure laziness. Wondering if anyone has any thoughts or had a similar experience I can draw on. It's a reach. I tried to ask this question on a "barcode coders" forum but seems like its not a very popular place for people to hang out, strangely.

You could keep track of your shoot with a shot list on the day so you know which videos to keep / which section of the video. To save space; You could export individually trimmed clips to a "desirable" bin (folder) 25mins and then trash your original videos. Then edit your youtube video with trimmed down "desirables" clips. You can't trim it before bringing it in to premiere because thats what you're using premiere for in the first place.

Hi all When clicking align horizontally to composition / vertically my layers are jumping to all over the comp getting further and further away from the centre [only sometimes and for some layers] when this pops up I think "jee thats funny, and do the job manually and don't seem to run in the problem again for a while so I haven't thought a lot about it. This is not an urgent issue but wondering if this is a bug or I have broken a setting somewhere would be good next time it happens to just to lay upon it with an "aha" and put the issue in its place. here is a temporary link to a clip of the bug WeTransfer

Hi Is this possible or impossible? Have created a rectangle with single fill, repeat the object so there are multiple squares. And I want to use Merge Paths to subtract / intersect another shape from the repeated result. Any creative solutions or arrangement to the layers that would make this work? Currently have GROUP : rectangle repeater fill new path <-- merge paths <-- subtract/intersect have also tried MAIN GROUP: SUBGROUP: rectangle repeater fill new path <-- merge paths <-- intersect/subtract subtracting through the repeater seems to see the repeater as an object and then hides everything any possible ideas that don't involve creating a separate layer with a mask?

Agreed - Something like the above will be much more effective than Screen Roll, ElleRThorpe. Get the same thing you've got, avoid judder and you'll be able to control everything and add more items to the menu.

Good advice. But how will OP achieve ease in / out and stop in the middle using this though Also text is very large and moving very quickly in and out should avoid the jitteriness?

okay so I won't pretend to understand trigonometry or why using Math.tan helps to create that looping effect so I won't. I'll leave that to someone smarter. I suppose its kind of a physics type of easy way to add an easing effect to the item but again with screen roll I think its not the ideal effect for what you're trying to achieve especially because the workaround is kind of clunky that I'm going to suggest. Honestly I don't know how complex your end goal will be, e.g. is going to be part of a consistently used template. If you can tell me what you're going to be using it for I could probably suggest a better alternative than screen roll, maybe find an easier way for you to just drop in more names etc... but anyway lets just say for some reason it HAS to be screen roll.. then... the workaround I used was to leave everything as is but to just play with the frequency item. frequency set to 0 first keyframe at 1 second - means the text will remain motionless until 1 second then at 2 seconds keyframe set to 1.49 (text will do its roll out and return half way to the halfway point. I set it to 1.49 instead of 1.50 because its one increment before the halfway mark. at 2seconds and 1 frame set it to 0 again. That means the position will reset but you won't notice it as 0 will look like its the next logical frame. at 3 seconds another keyframe of 0 . that means for a whole second there will be no change to frequency. the text will be frozen for that whole second at 4 seconds I set the frequency to 0.78 (don't ask me to explain why its pretty dense but it has to do with the time at that point and the tan equation being factored in to it. If anyone cared to long enough you could probably track it but lets just get this over with! ) at 4 seconds and 1 frame set it back to 0 and you're back to step 1. text motionless make sure there are no keyframes after this and it will now have a pause on all 3 menu items of 1 second. Again as far as I can tell this is definitely not the ideal way to do things. Let me know what your end goal is for this and I will suggest an alternative. off the bat if it just these 3 text items and a one time thing, it would have been faster just to use the position keyframes even and save all the hassle. if you're making a template of this that you would use for multiple items you might use your own expressions to create a template using ease() , and maybe use index or the inPoint as beginning time references so its easy to duplicate and control forever. you could put settings in a null to control duration of the ease etc... how long it holds for so forth. good luck

Hi I have full adobe licence + latest version of AE. Also I have word vomit, apologies in advance. When I chose H264 from Output Module in render queue I am receiving this: after effects one of the output modules could not be imported. it has been reset to use the default settings for the selected file format Having never had a problem before I turned to the most reliable source: most reliable source I discovered that in 2014 adobe removed h264 from their product and more importantly this more recent entertaining debate about that issue (locked) However I'm finding the pieces don't seem to add up the same way on my end... and I couldn't find as much information as I needed to move forward. Which leads me to these questions... If h264 was removed 4 years ago, why is it still in the output modules on my After Effects. My version is up to date is it because I am exporting to mp4 containers and not doing anything with QT? what is your current preferred export workflow? I feel I am well behind on this because I thought we were all still using h264 and I didn't run in to any bugs so I never did my homework after reading the heated debate, I found the final feeling of that thread was that h264 is a buggy codec, although everyone was annoyed Adobes foot was down and nothing was going to change. The results were, we must accept this and use AME. so the solution for the OP was to export to AME and use h264 but if its buggy and there are better quality, smaller files to be had that clients can open that sounds great and I'm so ready to jump ship and join the band-wagon Export settings reference for Adobe Media Encoder from adobe website still used h264 in their screenshot. most articles online seem to be really old some 8 years old, can't find anything recent. So for example I just want to export a 1920x1080 comp from AE to say an mp4 container - what are some of the best/popular practices and codecs now? Thanks in advance

can you add your .ae file to the shared folder I'll dl and have a look for you. not sure whats being used but happy to help AFAIK presets just set themselves up in the effects controls as a family/group/bunch/bouquet of other effects and settings I tried to have a look for a scroll preset and I think perhaps you are using the autoscroll? which might explain why in your example file elephant stomp scrolls back around to the top after its done. Unsure exactly what you want to create so can atm only suggest these things If you have knowledge of position and keyframing and it suits your end goal I would abandon the scroll preset If you are using autoscroll preset -- and if the scroll preset is somehow unavoidable - you just need to work on keyframing the "Autoscroll - vertical" element of the autoscroll preset under the Effect controls. By the looks of your animation you already have some keyframes in place by the speed changes. A speed of 0 will cause the text to stop at that point. so you could have say keyframes like this: At 0 seconds - Speed = 0 At 1 seconds - Speed = 0 At 2 seconds - Speed = 400; After that thats where I think autoscroll falls apart b/c if you set autoscroll speed back to 0, the scroll will reverse rather than slow down as you would expect. Pretty sure its meant to be used for say tv screen scrolling images like an old broken tv-set style look and other things along that kind of usage TLDNR - I dont think autoscroll is what you need at first glance

The technology already exists online via a few other companies I have seen and are quite realistically copying politicians voices etc. the main voco benefit is that it would be part of the adobe package and easier to integrate with current projects and be part of all access fee. The watermarks would make it stand out as more reliable than other companies. Basically anything adobe does gets much more press than other companies so they are very careful with their news releases On January 17, 2018 3:40:24 AM "SteveG(AudioMasters)"

Hi Clay I was playing around with it a bit last night I think you might be able to get what you want by creating the arrays like you have a = [[0, 100], [100, 100], [100, -100], [0, -100]]; createPath(a,inTangents = [], outTangents = [], is_closed = true); then you can create the array points any way you like, using for loop or any method of math-magic.

Wondering if somebody could possibly help me to strip away the code to simply rewrite arrays to point controls, not laters? Really just trying to understand "createPath" better. Even if it is not the code above it would be great to see an example of rewriting createPath without the arrays to get me started. I can't seem to work out where to rewrite to insert. Should I provide an example file?
