It is cool, but is there a way to rotate in less than 15° increments? It would also be cool to automatically export the frames as an animation, or to create layers so it can be imported into After Effects. But very cool technology so far!

This is still an issue in 2025. I think it is related to graphics card issues with some plugins like optical effects from video copilot, but for days I thought it was my SSD breaking down or something.

I had a couple more exports to do this morning, left over from a full day's work yesterday. I can't get Premiere to work well at all, especially exporting as h264. Exporting in ProRes seems to work pretty well. but of course I need to deliver in the smaller .mp4 formats. I need premiere to be more consistent.

I've been using Premiere for decades. I've seen a variety of performance quality over the years. I know Apple is responsible for the hardware and system software you have to work with, but Premiere at the moment is a mess. I'm editing DJI drone footage in ProRes and 4K Canon R7 footage in MPEG-4. Some stock footage from Adobe. All on an external 2TB SSD connected directly using a USB-C cord. I'm open to the idea that the problem is this new M3 Max chip, as my Mac Studio M1 Ultra seemed to run Premiere a lot more reliably.

I was just going to suggest this. Like any good special effect, you need to ease into it to make it less visible. Great suggestion. Especially when you're dealing with the artificial movement of human motion, hiding the effect and not making the morph so robotic is critical.

I'd like to start a stability rating vote on every Adobe product. I feel like Premiere in particular is very unstable right now. It feels like it needs a major update to fix the numerous problems I encounter every day. Crashes, slow project loading, footage dropping out, clips going red mysteriously, sound glitches, sound dropping on clips, having to quit and reopen and restart my computer to get it fuctional again. I'd rank it about 60% right now. I'm on MacBook Pro M3 Max, OS 15.3, 96GB RAM.

This has been a problem for years. I have a home set up and a work set up, both with 2 external monitors connected to a Mac Book Pro. It shouldn't be too hard for the Adobe software to remember where to put my panels. It always forgets and they're scattered everywhere.

I have a new M1 Ultra Mac Studio and I have playback problems too - and none of my clips are even 4k. I blame it on the fact that there's a lot of clips in my project on several different drives (it's my demo reel), but it would be nice if the program would cache the video in RAM or something. I have 64 GB of RAM, 20 CPU cores and 48 GPU cores. I don't think Premiere is taking advantage of it all.

Same with me. My work area is 45 seconds, but the source material is 50. All my exports are the full source, not my work area even though I specifically select Work area. I've been using Premiere for over 20 years, never had this problem before.

I'm having this same problem on a Mac Studio with the Ultra processor. My mac only uses 1% of the processor while rendering a comp in After Effects. Last week it worked much better... still didn't use 100% of the processors, but a lot better than this. I'm going to do a full shutdown and see if that fixes this.

This is still a problem in 2023. The morph cut should only analyze the frames it needs to, not the entire clip. This is silly!

Follow up on this - if I render my same project on my old MacBook Pro with M1 Max, it renders a bit slower, but uses more of the CPU! This is annoying since it shows that the Mac Studio could be twice as fast instead of just 25%-30% faster. CPU usage is around 65% on the MacBook, vs 30% on the Mac Studio.

It's a year later after the OP, and I'm rendering on a Mac Studio M1 Ultra with 64GB RAM. After effects is only using about 30% of the CPU based on Activity Monitor. This means my render could be 3x faster. C'mon Adobe and Apple! Work on this. You're wasting everyone's valuable time!

I just picked up a M1 Ultra Mac Studio, and a multi frame rendering said it would take almost 2 hours. It rendered on my MacBook Pro M1 Max laptop in 2 hours, 48 minutes. I turned off multiframe rendering, and the render time dropped to 10 minutes. I'm not sure what the Adobe software engineers are doing, but it's very clear that they are not optimizing their software properly, or the switch has the opposite effect of what it's supposed to have.

Did you ever figure this out? We have to make Power Ring 360 LED graphics for stadiums too, and I can't find a solution that will allow me to render out of AFX or Media Encoder as uncompressed AVI in super-wide formats. Sometimes it's 28000 x 48! Please let me know if you found a solution. Thanks.

This is causing one of my projects to crash. It's 2023. I'm on a mac m1 max. Hitting caps lock prevents it from crashing, and selecting Version 1 Classic in the drop down. But WTF? It worked when I built the project just a week ago.

I find that it can suffer from extreme slowdown after working with it for 30 minutes or so. I'm using a 64GB MacBook Pro M1 Max. When I quit and restart it that sometimes helps, or sometimes I have to restart the whole machine to get it working quickly again. We need to solve this problem quick because we have a lot of projects on the go. Should we switch to stop motion or something? Grr

I have a maxed out M1 MacBook Pro and sometimes AFX runs super fast - one complicated scene only took 7 minutes to render. After working on some changes to it (just minor tweaks to timing etc), I tried to re-render and now it's taking 1.5 hours. What is going on? I purged the memory. Do I really need to quit and restart AFX everytime I want to render? This is intolerable.
