After a frustrating morning on Firefly I Googled 'Firefly is terrible' and this thread came up. I agree with the above sentiments, it really is an appaling tool. I submitted a vector of a silouetted river and asked for variations ('variations of river'), and it is returning absolute garbage; completely irrelevant pictures of people or cartoons. It ignores prompts like 'single colour' or shapes (eg 'contain river in a circle'). Just for kicks I tried Firefly 4 Ultra and it decided to add text in what looks like Swedish! What's that all about?! I'm not a big AI image generator user but on the odd occassion I'm having much better luck with the free services out there. Considering the amount of effort put into promoting Firefly by Adobe, it's embarrassing.

Indeed, I would like to maintain the basic characteristics of male and female voices, but the male voice is quite different. They were recorded on different mics, which doesn't help, and it's the clarity between the two that's different. It's not muffled, but it does sound less clear due to the lower frequencies dominating the mid and highs.

I have around 50 clips, some a few seconds and others one minute, from a number of recordings: one male and one female. I've run a 50Hz low pass filter across them, as well as a perceived loudness (legacy) which has helped get the loudness levels right. However, the male voice carries a lot more bass so, compared to the female voice, it doesn't appear to deliver the higher frequencies and annunciation gets lost in the lower frequencies. I have tried Vocal Enhancer under parametric equaliser to cut more lower frequencies and lift the upper ones but this is subtle. When comparing the two they still sound distinctly different. Is there a way of batch processing all clips so that the graphics are equalised? That is, the lower frequencies of the male match those of the female? TIA

I could understand it if the computer slowed down, but in this instance all I am trying to do is apply Warp Stabiliser on one clip and then add, say, a text layer to another clip (changing speed in my OP was a bad example. Pick any other operation like adding a text layer). I find it odd that Pr cannot multi-task these two operations, one of which is resource-light. After all, I CAN add warp stabiliser to many clips, all at the same time. Each operation slows down as the resources are shared across multiple operations, but my computer can handle it. What it can't handle is warp stabiliser on one clip and a simple operation on another clip that requires bringing up a window or adding a layer. Warp Stabiliser even gets disabled when I switch sequence.

Sorry, I normally include this info. Pr is 24.2.1 (build 2) and the OS is Windows 10. I've had to go down the PNG route previously and it is a long-winded work-around!

Hi. Yes, they show as 'in Adobe and other local apps'. I have a few that say 'a font could not be added due to a conflict' when hitting the recycle button, but these are not the fonts I am having a problem with.

Hi, I'm getting pretty tired of this issue. I create my titles and lower thirds using specific fonts. They display as expected. Then after rendering, a default font has replaced them. This is especially annoying as my preferred fonts are sans serif yet the replacement font is serif. If I catch this in time, I end up just replacing all my lower thirds and subtitles with Aerial, which is a pretty poor workaround. Why does Premiere randomly switch my fonts, and why should it do this upon export? TIA

Hi, One of the things that slows down my workflow is when I have a whole series of clips that require warp stabilisation (in this instance underwater slo-mo clips but that's irrelevant). Before composing I need to run warp stabiliser on up to 50 clips, each nested, and the restriction I'm finding is that I set warp stabiliser to work on one clip, which could take up to five minutes, but stops working when I move onto the next clip to edit. This is having a major impact on my time as I have to wait for the first clip to stablise before I can do anything else. Interestingly this only happens on certain operations, mainly when opening windows on the next clip. It seems I can do basic operations like moving clips around, but if I try changing the speed of another clip, it stops the warp stabiliser on the previous clip. I'm running 24.1.0 on a Windows 10 PC with AMD Ryzen 7 2700X and 32GB RAM. I don't see this being a processing issue but if anyone has a work-around I'd be very grateful because warp stabiliser has always done this. TIA

Yes, this is possible, though it is happening too frequently. I don't know how Epidemic works, if the artists upload their own mp3s or whether it is done centrally, but I usually download stems. This zipped file contains five files, including the original track, and the error occurs in one or two of the stems. It's too much of a coincidence that this happens every time I copy these stems to my working SSD drive, so it could be an issue on my end (see my reply to Ishan's post).

Hi Bob, I had read this elsewhere and, if that's the case, this is a bug with Pr. I can't believe Pr would have a problem handling mp3 files in 2024, that just doesn't make sense, especially if the solution is to add a single character to the file name. Converting the files to wav is not a solution either, it's just a laborious work-around. That said, I've not had issues with mp3 files in Premiere per se, only this problem with zipped files. I've been using Epidemic for years, only ever use zipped mp3s, and didn't have this problem until about a year ago (in the last few versions of Pr). However, as posted in my reply to Ishan, this may coincide with how I copy zipped files or the location they are being copied to. I will update again if this persists.

Hi Ishan, It downloads to my M.2 SSD internal drive. I open the zip file and drag the files to an external SSD (Samsung T5). I spoke to my wife about this procedure and she said she extracts the file in its original location before copying the files across. I am now trying this method. First attempt worked. I'll update you again if the problem persists.

Hi, I consistently have issues importing mp3 files into my project. Often these are stems coming from Epidemic Sound (I have messaged them too) but the behaviour is random. Sometimes all four stems import ok, other times at least one, sometimes two files error. When I look at the file properties there is no difference between the importable tracks and the ones that error, and all are labelled similarly. There appears to be no consistency in the behaviour and this has happened across many versions of Premiere Pro (now running 24.1.0 build 85). The only workaround is to rename the offending tracks, which is not a solution as this adds to my workflow. And this in itself is odd as I only have to add a character to the end of the file name and it imports ok. For example, I renamed ES_Beyond Atlantis STEMS DRUMS to ES_Beyond Atlantis STEMS DRUMSa and it imported successfully. This just doesn't make any sense. Is this a known error? Is there a solution that doesn't add to my workflow? TIA

Ah, that'll be it! I went to create a new sequence and the default has changed to Broadcast/Mono Discrete. I know I selected 'remember settings' when updating Pr so this default change took me by surprise. No need for screenshot, problem solved. Thanks, Richard.

Hi, I've just updated Pr to 24.1.0. I haven't changed any settings but I have this oddity when playing audio in my timeline. I am sure this is an easy fix but since I didn't make any changes I'm unsure where to look. Here's a screen grab when the audio track is on A1: You can see the track has two channels, but it is only playing out the left channel. The other thing is that the audio monitor (the green bar to the right) is now showing four channels, not my normal two. I assume each of these represents each audio track on my timeline, but I don't normally have it set up this way. I only monitor whatever is playing and it only shows two bars, one for left, and one for right. If I drag the audio clip onto track two, now the audio only comes out the right channel: To solve this I have to centre the first dial in Audio Track Mixer: So my question is, why has this now defaulted to this state? How do I ensure that all tracks play through both channels automatically? And how do I change my monitor back to show only the L&R green bars? I have no idea why it is now showing four bars or what they mean. Any pointers appreciated, thanks.

Thank you, Euan. I've watched a few of Mike Russell's videos in the past but this one was particularly useful. I still haven't put into practice the auto-ducking yet as my latest podcast was a zoom meeting and therefore much eassier to edit, but the video you linked to showed me a few basics that I didn't know about, like amplitude statisitics and the Dynamics filter.

Hi, I've been recording podcasts for over a decade and when I started it was simple to edit as I used a Roland field recorder where the only talent speaking was me, and doing so on loction where background noise was desirable. Now I record a podcast with my partner in a 'studio' (background noise not desirable), which we video as well. Audio is recorded via two lavs on two Tascam DR10L units. I sync these two channels to the camera's audio, and then go through the painstaking task of manually ducking each track. This means cutting track one when track two is speaking, and vice versa. It works well but an hour-long podcast takes literally hours to edit this way. I've not done any auto-ducking on speech before and I am not sure if there is a feature in Premiere Pro or Audition that could assist me. Bear in mind the mics are picking each others' voices up, so I'm not sure an auto tool could differentiate between the talents, but before I go any further, is there a feature within Audition or Pr that might be worth a try? Failing this, perhaps I should look at a field recorder. How reasonable is it to rig two mics up and record to a single track? Do field recorders auto-level the two inputs? Should I be using lav mics with XLR or are there field recorders that allow multiple TRS inputs? This is not an area I'm particularly familiar with. I should mention that we are limited by space. We don't have a desk so we are not geared up for XLR mics on stands, desk-mounted mics etc. A field recorder mounted on a stand using the built-in mics could work, though I suspect it would be too far away to record two people sitting next to each other in conversation, and will probably end up recording lots of ambient noise. That's about as far as I've got in my thinking of hardware. Ultimately I'm looking for a way to massively reduce that editing time, so any pointers gratefully received.

Great, I'll look into those, Paul. FYI I quickly exported the offending GH5 sequences (which had already been edited) and applied Shifter/MultiBand Comp/Normalise, brought them back in as single wav files, then exported the whole episode, which you can see below: Still not perfect but a marked improvement compared to the original image I posted. In the future, I need to apply these fixes on the source clips immediately because in this instance I've ended up running the multiband compressor and normalise twice on the GH5 clips (effectively editing clips that were already edited). Thank you for your help.

Thanks for that, Paul. That goes some way to explain what is going on and now I know what nomenclature to use, which was half my problem with finding a solution. My issue is an asymmetric waveform. The one-click solution I was looking for is under Effects/Stereo Imagery/Graphic Phase Shifter. If I set this to +80db it fixes some of the asymmetric issues, but not all. I've gone back to each source clip and noticed that many of my audio clips are asymetric, which I hadn't noticed before. Here is a clip recorded on the GH5 with a Sennheiser MKE600 via the XLR adapter mounted on the hotshoe, gain and lowcut set to zero (I just increased db in Audition to visibly magnify the difference) This doesn't look like a DC offset issue because, as I understand it, the bassline would be shifted above (or below) 0db. So, what is causing this asymmetry? Is this just a manifestation of my camera set-up and to be expected? In which case, is it just a case of running Graphic Phase Shifter on every clip? What is interesting is that in my original screen grab, the section between 3-10 minutes is also audio from the GH5, but that doesn't look asymmetric.

Here is a single waveform of an entire project from Premiere Pro, consisting of multiple audio tracks: I've highlighted a couple of areas where the waveform has bias above the 0db line (it occurs in both left and right channels but I've just highlighted the left channel). I know there is a one-click solution to even out the waveform so that it looks more like the section between 3-10 minutes, but I don't remember what it is! Any pointers? TIA.

Here are some waveform comparisons, showing one second of audio with a Scientific Filter applied. This was recorded outside with some background noise. The 50Hz cut is close to tidying up the waveform so I can slice without clicks. Thanks once again, Steve.

Ok, I'll have a play with those alternative frequencies and set it as a favourite. I just need to find one that doesn't have the effect of a high pass, so any that isn't discernable to the ear will work. Thank you for your assistance, Steve.

Hmmm, I'm not so sure. For starters this is an external mic (Rode Micro) plugged in via the mod cage for the GoPro. The mic has a deadcat on it. And this occurs irrespective of location, inside or out, wind or no wind, handheld or mounted on a tripod.

My GoPro audio waveform looks nothing like my other waveforms, despite being recorded on an external mic. When imported it looks like this: If I slice this at any point, it results in clicking, unlike my waveform from my GH5, for example. But if I apply a simple filter like a high pass, the waveform now looks like this: This results in a much 'cleaner' waveform, visually speaking. It's like it balances the audio along the 0db line, making it easier to edit, and now looks like waveforms from my other sources. How do I achieve this without applying any filters to the waveform? And why does it do this? Why does this waveform look so 'chaotic' on import? I'm sure this is more than just audio quality or noise. The actual audio from the GoPro with the external mic is pretty clean, it's just the visual representation of the waveform that's different, or how it is interpreted by Audition upon import. Possibly. I'd like to understand why this happens. Any pointers are appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for the info and link. The cost is a little on the pricey side, especially compared to the original Tiffen plugin. Compared to other plugins, not so much. Guess it depends how much I plan to use it, which was really just to tinker! I might download the free trial. Cheers.
