After Effects

Youtube content creator Boonelovesvideo recently posted this Youtube tutorial about how to illustrate an animated frontline moving across a battlemap. What I'm having trouble understanding is how he sets up the animation with a "map anchor". He uses the Geolayers 3 plugin which I don't have. But can anyone take a look at his video and help me understand how he anchors the Solid Layer to the map. Just asking here because I already asked him, but he hasn't replied yet. Thank you very much in advance to anyone who can help us understand how to do this in After Effects (without Geolayers 3).

for some reason, any time i use motion tile or atleast try to; it refuses to go any higher than 100 for some reason and i can't figure out why this is happening or how to fix it. if someone could lmk, that'd be great. ill attach a video so you'll get a clearer image / understanding ( ae 2019 )  i clicked the wrong topic and its not letting me change it 😭😭 my bad

This is my first time using after effects, I'm trying to blackout someones teeth to make it look like they have no theeth. Any ideas on how to do it? I tried using the paintbrush but that doesn't really work because of the mouth closing. 

I have a main comp and sub comps as scenes. When i make a change in a sub comp i want to see how its final will look from the main comp, as it interacts with main elements too. This helps with editing stuff with accuracy to match timings of some things on the main timeline. Now heres the kicker. I was able to right click and select New Viewer.....and i got this to work.....but forgot the actual keyboard / mouse click combination of how it should be done. Now im trying it again and the 2nd viewer is just replicating the 1st viewer and vice versa, theres no clicking the viewers tab upper bar and selecting the comps name etc that works, it works, but the 1st viewer also changes to the chosen one, so all i have is clone views. Last week i could do this successfully, by shift clicking on the comp which i want to open in the new viewer or somethign and it worked...i even saved the dual viewer layout as a new workspace. When i activate that workspace it defaults to only one viewer even t

When I'm trying to zoom using the dolly towards cursor tool, it doesn't zoom out from the center of the screen because of this cross to the right here, it zooms out from that instead. Does anyone know how I can move that cross so I can zoom in and out wherever I want on the screen?

Hi, how can I snap only to the seconds in the timeline? I am not interested in the range between seconds.  Thank you  

Hola ¿que tal? a ver si alguien me puede ayduar.... ya no se que más hacer.actualmente tengo instalado en mi PC After Effect Versión 17.0.6,  anteriormente tenia instalada la 16.1.3 para ver si podia solucionar mi problema, pero al contrario me arrastro el supuesto error o problema. Lo que me ocurre es que abro after, trato de importar algun material, y me salta el "Informe de Bloqueo de after effect", antes podia importar el material epro cuando iba a intentar guardar, ya sea con "ctrl +  S" (en windows 10) o yendo a file, save as, me hace exactamente lo mismo, ya llegue a un punto donde no puedo ni trabajar con el programa, intente instalar versiones anteriores como la de 2018 que esa me funcionaba, pero actualmente ya no la veo disponible para descargar, y TODAS las versiones que bajo me hacen lo mismo.  Ahi adjunte una foto de las caracteristicas de mi PC. Acá dejo el "informe de bloqueo " que me aparece.... 

I've been having a very specific problem that I can't seem to find any explanation for. When I have a small animated composition that I put into a larger composition and then put that smaller composition on a 3D plane in the larger composition, it's perfectly fine and works great.However, as soon as I turn on the continuous rasterization for that small composition in the large composition, it yeets itself off the 3D plane and the cube symbol showing that it's a 3D layer doesn't dissapear but becomes a sort of compound arrow. This is a problem because one of my assets is looking comically blurry next to my other ones without the continuous rasterization. It only happens when the composition is: animated, continuously rasterized inside a larger composition, and on a 3D plane. If anyone knows how to solve this problem, I'd really appreciate your help. Recently I tried to move my team to work on team project mxing after effects and premire.I've tried working with 2 different machines but now the project won't stop refreshing the render time on the same frame (while idle).This causes a lot of problems, I can't change text or move mask with double click, because everytime I try the program just refresh the frame and send me back....Tried to change the project back to regular after effect file and this still happens...even deleted everything related to premiere.If this thing happen to anyone or think what could be causing this I would love to hear

Hi I am decided to install adobe premiere pro or after effects 2024 on 8gb ram 7 gen cpu upto 2.64 ghz or gpu with wd blue 512 gb ssd so please launched the version which is best suited and run on all older system because of new feactures enjoy .I already install indesign photoshop please give the solution because I have this pc not other .

So, let me start this off that I had an issue with my pc, BSOD etc. Got it fixed and was told it was a faulty part. As they fixed this issue, they upgraded my PC to windows 11, which is where my issues started.I had no issues with AE before besides some rare crashes on windows 10, but now I can't even use my project file without it crashing not even 2 minutes after startup. Usually loads one frame of the preview or not at all.I've restarted, redownloaded, tried different versions, limiting my other apps RAM use, pretty much everything online would tell you.. so now im clueless. Especially when my PC can run higher applications such as call of duty, so why is after effects having issues?I haven't been able to use it in a few weeks now, and its extremely disruptive. Good day,   I'm finally expanding my horizons and learning Ae. I have been using Pr and other Adobe products for a decade now, but new to Ae. I'm creating a new project and when I went to play it, it won't play (meaning that the playhead does not move). I did research and saw where changing the audio source could help. I did and it played, once. I saw where purging memory and disk cache would work, but that didn't work. Here are more points:   1. A couple of times as I was researching this issue, without engaging with Ae, the audio would play, but only a portion. A few times it played back at a slower rate. I would look over and the playhead was still at the beginning point of the composition. It never moved.  2. I tried a new composition and added a video. I tried to play that, it did, for a moment, but at a slower rate.  3. For some reason I do not have the option for MME, which I see people recommending.  4. Hello, I wanted to make  a video transparent from Avee Player in After Effects, but I couldn't do it. Can someone please help me? After converting it to transparent, I will convert it to gif and upload it to Adobe Animate 

A bit of background:I have 10 compositions that contain 5 text layers each (I will call these comps 'sub comps'). The content of each comp varies, but the text layers are the same in each sub comp. I have 'pickwhipped' the 'source text' parameter of each text layer to another text layer inside of a 'Master' comp, and now changing the source text in the master comp automatically reflect changes in the sub comps. This is all well and good, but let's say that I want to duplicate this little system, WITHOUT having to re-pickwhip all text layers to a new master comp? In other words, when duplicating the sub comps they will remain linked to the first Master page and not a new Master page. What I would like to do is duplicate the 10 sub comps and have them link to a new duplicated Master page. Is there a way to achieve this?

I can't change any text properties of a text using the STYLE commands.I must be using it totally wrong.Why doesn't this work? thisLayer.text.sourceText.setFontSize(50);Whatever the syntax of the STYLE commands is, I find it completely incomprehensible.None of the documentation on the internet works for me.Even chatgpt gave up.Is there anyone who can show in babysteps how to set omething correctly?(please mark variables with a _ somewhere or else I get confused to see variables among the commandos)

Sometimes it happens that an entire day's worth of saves and autosaves are corrupted the next morning when I try to open them. Older ones will work fine. They will load for a few minutes, get stuck at 100% and then crash, sometimes with and sometimes without the official Adobe crash report. I can't seem to figure out any sort of pattern behind what is causing this.I'm on Windows 10AE CC 2018i7 5280k16 GB RAM970 GTXI updated all my drivers.

With Duik, you can add 0 to a layer and the outcome has 2 guide layers both parented to the target layer while the target layer has a new position of [0,0].I've spent a couple of hours trying to make chat GPT give me something useful but to no avail.  I know I'm missing something and I just want to understand what I'm getting wrong or what process would allow me to do this manually.   eg. Layer 1 has position [1158, 904] I want to make the position value of this layer [0,0] without moving it.

hey, guys so today I filmed a footage using my phone (Samsung Galaxy S7 edge), the resolution is 3840x2160 29.706fps.so I imported this footage into after effects and tried rotobrush on it only to have an error message telling me frame rate mismatched, or footage with fields found. set the composition to 06 fps to match the layer source.the values in this project are weird in the first place and the rotobrush would just mask out the whole scene and wouldn't function at all.I am using AE cc 2018.I have also tried interpreting the footage to 59.94FPS,60FPS, changing the composition FPS to 59.94,60, but all does not fix this error at all.someone, please help me P.S. I know I can just use the rotobezier tool but I want to be able to fix this for future reference too when it's much easier to use rotobrush instead.

I have a Windows 11 pro PC with an Nvidia 1660 TI, 32 GB of RAM, 12 generation Intel Core i7-12700F, and gbs of free hard drive space. All drivers and windows is up to date. Yet the website still tells me Adobe After Effects is not compatible. What am I missing?

Hello, ever since the june update I've got a big color difference between Camera Raw and the timeline. It looks like a wrong profile, but whatever I do in the color settings (project) or RAW settings the problems stays. I've never had such a color/contrast shift before, this different than the regular profile problems. Photoshop does not have this problem and both my Mac Mini and Macbook pro 2017 have this problem. It becomes dark and purple in AE, it seems to have happened after the update on both macs.Is this a software issue?
