Photoshop 27.10: New AI editing tools, Light adjustment layer, and more!

What’s New

Photoshop 27.10 introduces powerful new ways to edit and create with AI while giving you more control over your workflow. You can now fine-tune image lighting non-destructively with the new Light adjustment layer, making it easier to adjust exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, and more without permanently changing your original image.

This release also brings the AI Assisted editor (Beta) directly into Photoshop, giving you access to Firefly-powered creative tools from within your editing workflow. New AI capabilities include Prompt to Edit, which lets you make image changes using natural language, and Markup, which enables you to guide AI generation and editing with visual annotations.

For more precise AI-powered editing, you can now use masks and selections to control exactly where generative edits are applied. Text workflows are also improved with Dynamic Text for shapes and paths, allowing text to reflow and resize as you adjust shapes and paths automatically.

Additionally, you can browse and import Adobe Stock assets directly within Photoshop, and customize which file formats appear in the Save As and Save a Copy dialogs for a cleaner, more personalized experience.

very interesting observation from Blake Rudis…

shame on Adobe that they dont explain how new features and tools exactly work and behave, especially when it is crucial for predictible editing workflow and editing result

and this is bigger reason to make Light adjusting layer as standalone and keep old Brightness and Contrast simultaneously

Photoshop 27.10 looks like a great update. I’m especially interested in the new Light adjustment layer and Prompt to Edit, since they could make everyday editing much faster while keeping more control over the final result. Looking forward to trying these features!

Fingers crossed you have none of the issues I and others have had.

I’ve been enjoying the AI Assistant editor with Nano Banana and the ability to work without cropping on the same layer. However, I’ve noticed that the Firefly Image 5 model doesn’t seem to be performing as well as previous versions when processing the whole image, even when using the prompt in the contextual menu.

I personally find the required contextual menu workflow restrictive, as it interrupts my established editing process. I am now forced to either manually select an area or use the contextual menu, and neither approach feels as intuitive or effective as it was before.

Additionally, I specifically need dedicated Brightness and Contrast controls. The new Light adjustment layer doesn't seem to replicate the specific behavior of the legacy Brightness/Contrast adjustments. Is there a way to restore this functionality? Ideally, I would like to be able to use a command (like Command+A) to prompt for these adjustments directly and i feel like that firefly 5 was as strong as nano banana pro model , but the option currently appears grayed out. Could you please clarify if there is a workaround or if this is a known limitation?

Overnight, reference accuracy in Nanobanana Pro inside PS is absolutely terrible. Like, non-existant. And the reference image button is gray randomly. Are these known issues? If so, I need to cancel my three weekly credit re-ups…

Bad. Just like the last update it’s laggy and just bad. I guess with a 4080, amazing CPU, and 64gb of ram your software just doesn’t work… ridiculous. I’m about to switch to a free program at this point :\

I think this version is buggy. When I’m editing an image, I get a periodic flicker, a flash of light like a strobe light firing. Never did that before.

What a waste of time for me.  How can I be editing a photo, saving it, and then going back to it, and the colours are way off.
