Title says it all, even though the MP3 license has expired it is still used by a large majority of people and it is still offered as an Export option in Audition. With the current Fraunhofer encoder at CBR 320, there is a brickwall at the 16kHz frequency, which removes a lot of the higher frequencies during compression (therefore decreasing the quaility). On the other hand, the LAME encoder does not have this issue and extends its range to 20kHz (maximum a human can hear). Many other DAWs use this while Audition is the only one that has not taken this into consideration. I've seen other posts here saying that MP3 export quality is bad and this is the exact reason why. Wavelab, audacity, Izotope RX, and many more programs use LAME which offers a dramatic increase in quality compared to the Fraunhofer Audition uses. This really isn't a complicated fix, it's as simple as adding a dll, so devs please fix this.
Like Logic it would be useful to directly extract audio from a video, work on it and then remux it back to the video without having to re encode the whole material. Especially because I experienced audio bugs in premiere applying effects realtime in the mixer. When I encode the material it always fails and the audio isn't the same I edited in the program. I'm using built in audio plugins in the mixer both on tracks and master track. This is happening from the latest release. The doesn't affect the improvement which will still be useful anyway
It would be nice to be able to export a wavfile as picture, edit it in Photoshop and the reimport the picture to audition. So every manipulation on the picture in photoshop has effect on the wavfile.
When you organize multi-tracks, it's a good practice to assign color labels to tracks relative to the same instrument or instrument's family. We have to do so track by track that can be time consuming.Enable the possibility to group tracks to assign them a color in one click. It could be also useful to modify gain of all the tracks of a group in a single click.
When using the 'Mark Audio' effect to automatically mark sections of audio in a recording (where there is quiet in between) an option to add padding to these markers would be great. When marking sections of audio to be exported as separate files I usually require a few hundred milliseconds of silence at the start and end. Protools and Audacity let you decide how long before and after the section of audio the markers should be placed and it's very handy. I'm surprised Audition doesn't have such a feature.Kind regards,Mark
Have the ability to output video through black magic card to an external monitor
I need to be able to score films. This requires the use of external music creation software like Reason, and East/West's amazing sample library via their Play app. Just add rewire or some other method so I can create the soundtrack in realtime with the video track. I am otherwise forced to use other applications and audition is useless after the dialog editing. Honestly, this is the only multitrack audio software that doesn't support it. More frustratingly Audition used to support Rewire technology. I see youtube videos showing how to do it.
Different coloured markers, with pre-setable marker names, with different assignable shortcut keys. This would help me during recording to mark editing comments simply by pressing shortcut keys.It would even be better if certain markers have macros assigned to them that are performed after recording. For example i mark hesitation ("ummmm") sound which visually and audably are very identifiable. It sould be great if during recording I put a pre-programmed special marker by me on these syllables, and after finishing recording, macros are executed to remove these. A reviewing option of each marker would make it more ideal too.I would explain further if you like.
Occasionally, you'll have a stereo audio clip where one side might be a boom mic, and the other might be a wireless lapel (lav) mic.A nice feature would be the ability to drag that clip over two mono tracks, and have Audition automatically split the clip into two separate mono clips, which can then be edited and mixed independently.
Audition could have more surround options, like 7.1, 9.1...not only mono, stereo or 5.1.
these things would very much improve everyday life with audition- ability to create folders in import window- ability to search effects like (PPro, AE,)- ability to copy effects and paste to other clips
In Pro Tools you can assign multiple tracks to single groups so things you do to one channel happens to all of them in that group. For example, group all the drum tracks, select that Group, adjust the fader, mute, solo, turn FX on or off of one channel in that Group and they all do it. Please note it isn't the same as bussing the tracks to a single Aux. Multiple tracks could be in more than one Group.
When exporting an mp3 the bitrate always reverts back to 192 Kbps, regardless of the last bitrate export. Is it not a strange fate that we should suffer so much fear and doubt for so small a thing? So small a thing!
A Creative Cloud membership is very expensive when the only application I use is Audition, and only on an infrequent basis. I am also paying in Canadian dollars, so it's almost $33 per month for a program I use only a half dozen times a year. I used to own Audition CS6 outright, but it is a 32 bit application and doesn't work in MacOS Big Sur. I think the monthly cost should be half what it is, or offer us the ability to purchase Audition outright.
eg Session1: Interview recording - needs 2nd mic muting when not used (with appropriate fades), eq, compression, level adjustments etc. Session2: editorial cut of session1, music added etc Ideally it would also be possible to ‘relink’ the session 1 to an updated version. Why?: Mainly to enable 2 people to work concurrently in a fast turnaround situation but also there are times when the same interview may be used multiple times for different shows. Be very useful to have non-destructive & tweakable cleaned master interview. Bonus question: Are there other DAWs that have this? Certainly some NLEs do. (Workaround currently is to do export session1 and relink master file to the fixed wav in session 2)
For those of us who work in bright rooms all of the current interface display settings are so dark that it is very (very) hard to use. There used to be a light interface, when did that get lost?I know dark is supposedly 'cool' these days - but this too shall pass.
Using the Spot Healing Brush Tool tends to leave holes that are quieter than the surrounding audio, which is rarely what we'd want. The only time the tool truly works well is if you've recorded audio in a perfect environment with no audible noise floor. That's not how the real world typically works, though.Just to visualize what I mean, try this:- Effects > Generate > Noise and Apply- Use the Spot Healing Brush Tool above the 1.5k range- notice that you're leaving holes of quietness behind wherever you paintIt would be incredible if the algorithm paid more attention to the amplitude of surrounding audio and didn't leave such noticeable visible/audible gaps behind! The current workaround is to use the Paintbrush Selection Tool with a low opacity (50) and use Auto Heal instead. But that's an extra step that I wouldn't have to do if the Spot Healing Brush Tool was enhanced.
Coming from an NLE background we are well used to ‘add transitions‘ to a bunch of edits (including ‘match frame/split/add’ edits). Why? Among many other reasons:1. To smooth removal of sections (eg umms, coughs, non-speaking sections of iso mics)2. To smooth transitions between levels of clip gain (eg to compensate for off mic sections )So it’s definitely a very useful thing to be able to do.IMO Avid media composer does it best with ‘add transitions in to out’ (in to out = time selection) with a dialogue that offers duration of transition, and position (ends at cut/centred/starts at cut and custom).
I'm so disappointed by Adobe Audition. Simply stretching the file is about to take 3 hours, even though the iMac Pro has 64GB of RAM, 8 cores, 16 threads and still it uses 9% of the resources. Can't wait to switch to another product that is ahead with the time...
I have snapping turn on, and snapping to markers turned on. It just doesn't work. Screen grab of my multitrack session attached.
I use Audition CC (currently on 11.0.2.2) with an Audient ID14, and I work as a voiceover artist.I nearly always record straight to the single track, not multitrack, waveform viewer. For my studio setup, I need my Audio Channel Mapping screen to be set to:1 [L] (Mono) Analogue 22 [R] Analogue 1Whenever I unplug and replug my audio interface, or power-cycle my computer, these settings reset to the default of: 1 [L] (Mono) Analogue 12 [R] Analogue 2Audition should save that setting in it's Settings folder when you close down Audition. However it appears that it doesn't. Confirmed this occurs on latest version of Audition (v12) as well in the forum:https://forums.adobe.com/message/10689121#10689121
When applying effects to audio or generating noises, Audition can take 30 minutes or more to do its processing. Rather than being required to manually check whether Audition is done processing, it would be wonderful if Audition would play a quick notification sound when the processing finished. This feature would allow me to work in another program while Audition is busy processing until I hear the notification alerting me to the fact that I can go back to working in Audition again.
I would like to have the option to toggle the visibility of the Waveform Editor Grid. This feature was available in legacy versions of Audition.
When applying "Match Clip Loudness", I would like to set it by time segments. I often have audio clips that I need to correct that have seconds or minutes of very quiet audio, followed by seconds or minutes of very loud audio. The only way I can figure to do this now is by cutting up the audio to different tracks or files, apply "Match Clip Loudness" and then merge them back together. It would be nice if you could simply select part of the audio, tell it to match loudness, then select another portion and do it again.
The Remix function in Audition is nice I just wish there was more control. Perhaps a way to easily isolate specific sections you want to remix instead of the whole track. And maybe make it easier to lengthen without being forced to stretch it. I mean it's okay how it is, but it's also really frustrating.
